Family Star censor cuts and runtime details

Family Star starring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur is slated for release this April 5th. The film is directed by P. Parasuram of Geetha Govindam and Sarkaru Vaari Paata fame. Dil Raju under his Sri Venkateswara Creations produced the film. Family Star’s censor formalities have completed and its runtime is also locked.

Family Star is 163 mins long i.e., 2 hours 43 mins which is an okayish runtime. Shockingly, the film featured many cuss words. Parasuram incorporating these cuss words in a family film like Family Star is truly shocking. The censor officials removed all these words from the film. The team of Family Star is missing the logic right from the beginning. They made Vijay wear luxurious costumes and wearables in a middle-class guy role. And when asked about the same they came up with weird logic. Parasuram should have taken care of such things.

The pre-release event was held yesterday in Hyderabad where the team looked very confident. Vijay Deverakonda showered praise on Parasuram and cherished working with him. He also talked about trolls made against him. The film’s songs and trailer too generated a decent hype. But the film may face threat in the form of Tillu Square which is rocking the box office.

Vijay Deverakonda became an overnight sensation after the film, Arjun Reddy. The film brought him many accolades and stardom as well. His stardom catapulted even further with the film, Geetha Govindam which grossed nearly 130 crores worldwide. This made Vijay very confident about himself and believed that he would score much with his Pan India projected film, Liger. He talked during the press meets and on Twitter that he would easily score 200 crores gross. But Liger became a big box office failure and everyone trolled him for his arrogant words. Now, he talked about 200 crores again.

Vijay Deverakonda attended the pre-release event of his upcoming film, Family Star directed by P. Parasuram. It is slated for release this April 5th. While speaking at the event, he brought up the issue of him not scoring 200 crores and everyone trolling his words. He said that he would dream of scoring that number in the future as well. He said that he once dreamt of hitting 100 crores with his film during Pelli Choopulu. But interestingly, he didn’t say that he would score 200 crores with Family Star.

He also said that stating that he would score 200 crores is not wrong but failing at it makes it wrong. Looks like Vijay Deverakonda felt tremendous pressure from the trolls that hit him during Liger’s failure.

Pushpa 2: The Rule Teaser date announced

Allu Arjun announced a big news to his fans and the audiences of Tollywood. His upcoming film, Pushpa 2: The Rule, sequel of Pan India Blockbuster, Pushpa: The Rise is having so much of expectations from the fans. The team is also putting its everything to keep up the hype. The Teaser of the film will release on 8th April on the occasion of Allu Arjun’s Birthday. Similarities between Maryan and The Goat Life?

Recently released Malayalam film, The Goat Life also titled Aadu Jeevitham stunned everyone with its making and content. It stars Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role and is directed by Blessy. The film is a survival thriller based on a real-life incident. However, one more film lies closely to this plot and theme i.e., Maryan starring Dhanush which released in Telugu as well.

Maryan directed by Bharat Bala was also inspired by the novel Aadu Jeevitham. Dhanush plays the role of a fisherman in the film who gets trapped in Sudan. The director took some more real-life incidents and made the film. However, The Goat Life is an official adaptation of the novel, Aadu Jeevitham. The Goat Life’s pre-production took so many years and was planned even before the release of Maryan. Interestingly, A. R. Rahman who was part of Maryan scored the music for The Goat Life as well.

Maryan was more concentrated on the love story between the lead pair whereas The Goat Life seems to focus on survival. Dhanush gave one of the best performances of his career in Maryan along with the lead actress Parvathy Thiruvothu. Prithviraj is also getting phenomenal praise for his performance in the film. Interstingly, The Goat Life having similarities with Maryan is performing well in Tamil Nadu. It has already grossed 5 crores there and may even touch the 10 crore mark.

Tillu Square touches the $2M mark in USA

Tillu Square starring Siddhu Jonnalagadda and Anupama Parameswaran is creating milestones at the box office. The film is a prequel to the smashing hit, DJ Tillu. Tillu Square succeeded in getting unanimous positive reviews and opened to a great start at the box office during the weekend. It managed to gross more than 75 crores worldwide. Now, it has breached one more milestone by touching the $2M mark in the US.

The film has already shocked everyone with its numbers. The trailer ahead of the film’s release looked very normal and many thought it might not beat its prequel, DJ Tillu. But the team denied this, and the lead actor, Siddhu Jonnalagadda, expressed so much confidence about the film. Now it is paying off. The film has officially touched the coveted $2M mark at the box office in the U.S. and may even cross the $3M mark by its final run. This is great news for the fans and audience.

The Goat Life/Aadu Jeevitham: Disaster in Telugu States

Malayalam film, The Goat Life also titled Aadu Jeevitham stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Amala Paul released this March 28th. The film garnered fantastic reviews and became a box office sensation there. The film was commended for its making and the praiseworthy performance of the leader actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. But The Goat Life became a disaster in the Telugu States.

The film is a survival thriller based on a real-life incident adapted from the novel of the same name, Aadu Jeevitham. It resonated with the audience of the Malayalam Industry but Telugu Audience didn’t show any interest in the film. The film also faced tough competition with Tillu Square at the box office which further damaged the film’s prospects. Tillu Square gained a unanimous positive talk and is setting the box office on fire. In Tamil Nadu, The Goat Life opened well with 1 crore gross which is the biggest ever opening there for a Malayalam film. It collected 5 crores gross till now and is also expected to touch the 10 crore mark by its end run.

In the Telugu States, The Goat Life performed poorly. It didn’t even post decent numbers. All expected it to perform well by the weekend but it became a dud. Prithviraj who attained a Pan India image after his role in Salaar failed to attract the audience here.

Manjummel Boys and Premalu, the two films from the Malayalam Film Industry rocked the box office like anything. The two films were low-budget films with a very low star cast. But they managed to achieve box office milestones which no other mid-range films did in recent times. Manjummel Boys & Premalu Total Worldwide Box office Collections are as follows:

Manjummel Boys has collected a staggering 222 crores gross till now which is officially the Industry hit of Mollywood. Premalu on the other hand, has grossed around 134 crores worldwide and is expected to touch the 140 crores mark by its end run. Premalu will stream on Disney+Hotstar on 12th April. The film has done amazingly well in Telugu language also grossing close to 15 crores worldwide. This is the best figure for any Malayalam dubbed film here. Manjummel Boys will also be released in the Telugu version this week to check its luck here.

On the other hand, The Goat Life starring Prithviraj Sukumaran is also rocking the box office with 75 crores gross in 5 days and will easily enter the 100 crores gross mark. This film has all chance of even touching the 200 crores gross mark worldwide in the coming days.

Aha’s upcoming films streaming dates

Aha, the Telugu OTT platform has grabbed the streams of two films, Tantra starring Ananya Nagalla, and Kajal Karthika starring Kajal Aggarwal. Tantra will be streaming from April 5th and Karthika will stream from April 9th.

Tantra also stars Actress Saloni after many years and follows witchery. Kajal Karthika on the other hand is a dubbed version of a Tamil film, Karungaapiyam written and directed by Deekay. Both films follow supernatural plots and may entertain such thriller fans. Karungaapiyam follows the story of Karthika (Regina) who decides to spend time at a 100-year-old unkempt library in a bid to divert and heal from a heartbreak. This film also stars Yogi Babu for some laughs and fun.

Apart from this, Aha is also learned to have bagged the Telugu Streaming rights of Malayalam blockbuster, Premalu. Premalu’s Malayalam version will stream on Disney+Hotstar on April 12th which was already announced. The film performed exceptionally well in Malayalam and Telugu as well. It managed to gross nearly 15 crores from the Telugu version taking the total to 130+ gross worldwide. A small budget with no star cast performing up to this level is considered sensational. Let’s see how it performs on OTT after its streaming.

Family Star needs a boost in Ticket sales

Family Star starring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur directed by P. Parasuram is slated for release this April 5th. The Film’s teaser has already been released and received okayish response. It is produced by leading Tollywood Producer, Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations. The combo of Vijay and Parasuram is highly anticipated one after the blockbuster, Geetha Govindam. But the Advance bookings for Family Star are not so encouraging and it needs a boost in these ticket sales.

The craze Vijay Deverakonda has among youth and family audiences is big but the advance bookings don’t reflect that as of now. The promotional activity of the film was not aggressive and it failed to create a big impact on the audience. Advance bookings are also low in Hyderabad and US which are considered strong zones for Vijay. The film needs a big momentum change to witness good openings on the opening day. The Pre-release event will happen today which may enhance these bookings.

Tillu Square on the other hand is posing a big threat to Family Star’s box office prospects. This film is already on its way to becoming the cross 100 crores gross worldwide. Family Star needs to gain a unanimous positive talk to withstand the race. If it does that, It could become another 100 crore grosser for Vijay considering the long summer season.
