Youth Review: A Decent Coming-of-Age Movie

0
Movie Name Youth
Rating 2.75/5
Cast Ken Karunaas, Anishma Anilkumar, Devadarshini Chetan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Priyanshi Yadav
Director Ken Karunaas
Produced By Paarvathaa Entertainments
Release Date 26th March, 2026

Ken Karunaas directs and stars in Youth, a coming-of-age movie that has generated proper buzz with its promotions. The film was released last week in Tamil, and after tasting success there, it arrived in Telugu today.

Story

The story of the film, Youth, is about a high-school boy who does not have any serious goals in life, and he just wants to experience love. He is more than excited when two girls fall in love with him, but he gets to understand the reality of life because of some incidents.

Performances

Ken Karunaas does a good job in the lead role and delivers what is needed according to the situation. Anishma Anilkumar (Sirai Fame), Meenakshi Dinesh, and Priyanshi Yadav all perfectly suit their roles and deliver convincing performances. Suraj Venjaramoodu and Devadarshini are too good in the hero’s parents’ roles and provide the needed impact.

Analysis

Ken Karunas, who is the lead of the film Youth, is also the writer and director. He took a very simple story and narrated it with a generational template. One can easily predict where the film is heading within the first 10-15 minutes, and the film goes on the same expected note.

But what works for the film is the apt casting for the Hero, female leads, and friend characters in an intermediate college setup. The first half has some hilarious moments, and though some appear a bit silly, they go on with the flow. The second half, as expected, mixes the emotional angle with parents’ scenes and the hero realizing the importance of education or life; all the scenes follow a known path, with the crucial moments working well, including the climax.

Besides performances, the music by GV Prakash is also a good plus point for the film. The songs add a nice feel and energy, while the background music is also perfect.

If you enjoy films that explore teenage emotions and family dynamics, you might also appreciate other recent releases like Saindhav which similarly balances emotion and entertainment.

Positives

  • Performances
  • Comedy Scenes in the first half
  • Second Half Screenplay

Negatives

  • Predictable Setup/Scenes
  • A Few Dragged Moments

Final Verdict

Youth is a familiar yet watchable coming-of-age drama by Ken Karunas. The story is predictable, but apt casting, enough mix of entertainment and emotions make the film a decent watch.

Dhurandhar Franchise Creates History: Both Films Cross ₹1000 Cr

0

The Dhurandhar franchise has achieved an unprecedented milestone in Indian cinema. With both Part 1 and Part 2 becoming massive blockbusters, the franchise has become the first in Indian film history to have two films cross the ₹1000 crore gross mark worldwide.

A Historic Box Office Achievement

This remarkable feat sets the Dhurandhar franchise apart from every other film series in Indian cinema. Both Part 1 collected ₹1000 crore gross worldwide, and Part 2 has now joined it in the elite club, making this the only franchise to achieve this distinction.

The most stunning aspect of this achievement is the timeline — both films were released within a 3-month gap, demonstrating phenomenal audience response and sustained box office power. This kind of back-to-back success is exactly what the industry needs to revive theatrical footfalls.

What Makes This Franchise Special

The exceptional content and massive audience love for both installments have created a rare phenomenon at the box office. While other successful franchises continue to expand in Indian cinema, none have achieved the dual ₹1000 crore milestone that Dhurandhar has accomplished.

Dhurandhar has effectively brought Bollywood back to top form at the box office, proving that strong content and franchise appeal can drive unprecedented numbers even in competitive release windows. The franchise’s success comes at a time when major releases are setting new benchmarks across Indian cinema.

Dhurandhar 2 Fastest to 1000 Cr: Ties With Pushpa 2 in 8 Days

0

After creating multiple box office records, Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 (Dhurandhar: The Revenge) became the fastest Indian film to reach ₹1000 Cr gross worldwide, tying with Pushpa 2. Both films achieved this milestone in just 8 days.

Fastest Indian Films to ₹1000 Cr Worldwide

The race to ₹1000 Cr gross has become a prestigious benchmark in Indian cinema. Here’s how the top films stack up:

Pushpa 2: 8 Days

Dhurandhar 2: 8 Days

Baahubali 2: 10 Days

RRR: 17 Days

KGF 2: 17 Days

Jawan: 19 Days

Dhurandhar: 24 Days

Pathaan: 27 Days

Kalki 2898 AD: 29 Days

Aamir Khan’s Dangal also crossed the ₹1000 Cr mark worldwide, but achieved the milestone only after its China release, making it a different trajectory compared to the domestic-driven blockbusters.

Dhurandhar 2 Box Office Rampage Continues

The film’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Trade analysts are closely monitoring its second week performance, with expectations that Dhurandhar 2 will cross several more milestones in the coming days.

The Aditya Dhar directorial has shattered records across markets, establishing itself alongside Pushpa 2's historic run as one of the fastest-grossing Indian films of all time.

Maruthi Accepts Reality, Harish Shankar Refuses to Accept Failure

0

This year, Maruthi with The Raja Saab and Harish Shankar with Ustaad Bhagat Singh made bold statements before release, claiming they were bringing back vintage Prabhas and vintage Pawan Kalyan. They promised a feast for fans and said the films would exceed all expectations.

However, audiences rejected both films. It was surprising to see how different the actual content was compared to the directors’ statements.

The Raja Saab and Ustaad Bhagat Singh Box Office Performance

The Raja Saab ended up as one of the biggest failures in Prabhas‘s career, while Ustaad Bhagat Singh turned out to be a major disaster for Pawan Kalyan as well. Despite initial promotional hype, both films failed to connect with audiences.

At least Maruthi maintained silence after seeing audience feedback and accepted the reality of the situation.

Harish Shankar’s Response to the Failure

The shocking part is Harish Shankar — even after the film recorded lower collections than disasters like Bro: The Avatar and Hari Hara Veera Mallu, he is still projecting Ustaad Bhagat Singh as a great film and his best work.

Industry observers noted that Harish Shankar‘s refusal to acknowledge the film’s shortcomings stands in stark contrast to Maruthi‘s approach. While Maruthi quietly moved on after The Raja Saab‘s poor performance, Harish Shankar continued defending his work despite disappointing reception from audiences and critics.

Impact on Future Projects

This attitude is making people feel that Harish Shankar is still not in touch with reality like Maruthi, and this disconnect may affect his career going forward. The director’s inability to accept criticism could impact his relationships with producers and stars for future collaborations.
