Pawan Kalyan’s OG emerged as the biggest grosser of his career with a worldwide gross close to ₹300 Cr. However, despite the massive numbers, the film ended in the average range theatrically due to its very high business costs. The sequel OG 2 was announced with a cliffhanger ending, and now the latest buzz suggests a major change in the production team.
Pawan Kalyan Steps in as Producer
According to industry sources, Pawan Kalyan himself is set to produce OG 2 in collaboration with People Media Factory. This marks a significant shift from the original film, which was produced by D.V.V. Danayya under DVV Entertainments.
The change comes after reported disputes between director Sujeeth and Danayya over budget overruns during OG’s production. Sources suggest that Sujeeth even spent some of his own funds to reshoot certain scenes, leading to tensions with the original producers.
OG 2 Timeline and Production Plans
Director Sujeeth had initially planned to start OG 2 after completing Nani’s Bloody Romeo. However, with The Paradise taking longer than expected and its release pushed to December, Sujeeth is now likely to prioritize the sequel first. Early announcements have already begun circulating in the industry.
Pawan Kalyan is reportedly very keen on the sequel and has been actively involved in script discussions for OG 2 in recent days. The OG Universe expansion was officially announced following the first film’s release, setting up multiple sequels and prequels.
What This Means for the Franchise
With Pawan Kalyan taking on production duties, OG 2 is expected to have stronger creative control and potentially smoother production. The actor-turned-producer’s direct involvement could address the budget management issues that plagued the first installment while maintaining the franchise’s scale and ambition.
The official announcement with complete cast and crew details is expected once Sujeeth finalizes the shooting schedule.
