The OTT release was also okayish with it trending only for 5 weeks on Netflix. The recently released TV premiere too became disastrous. If they take time to bring the film to the audience, the film may lose anticipation among public as well. So the team would start shooting the film soon.

Recently released Tamil film, Aranmanai 4, the fourth film of the Aranmanai series opened with excellent numbers in the Tamil Version. In the home state of Tamil Nadu, it opened with 4.5 crores gross, and on the second day, it witnessed a big jump doing more than 6 crores and on third day it witnesses much more jump and registers it’s best day. Overall the film has collected more than 18Cr gross in 1st weekend at Tamil Nadu box office. This indicates that Aranmanai 4 provided a much-needed blockbuster for the Tamil Industry.

Even the Telugu Version released as Baak performed better than expected. The Telugu version of the film collected more than 2 crore gross in the Telugu States. Aranmanai enjoys a fanbase in the Telugu market as well. For this reason, Telugu Comedians, Srinivasa Reddy, and Vennela Kishore were roped in to play some crucial roles.

Attack on Sai Dharam Tej in Janasena’s Campaign

0

With the election campaign nearing its end, Pawan Kalyan is leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters. The Janasena chief will be contesting from Pithapuram constituency and is confident of entering the Assembly this time around. As a part of his campaign, Tollywood young heroes Varun Tej and Sai Dharam Tej have also traveled with Pawan Kalyan and campaigned.

Earlier last week Varun Tej had campaigned for his uncle while Sai Dharam Tej joined Pawan for his road show in Pithapuram and Machilipatnam. The young hero’s campaigning took an ugly turn when he was attacked with bottles during the roadshow.

Assailants threw glass bottles at Sai Dharam Tej which ended up severely injuring a fellow Janasainik who was a part of the roadshow. The Janasainik was hit by glass bottles directly on face leading to severe bleeding. He was immediately rushed to hospital while others narrowly escaped the attack.

Janasena has entered a coalition with TDP and BJP for AP Assembly Elections. This united opposition front is seeking to enter power by defeating the incumbent YSRCP government headed by YS Jaganmohan Reddy. The election race is quite heated up and this attack has once again brought forth the ugly face of cheap politics.

Salaar sequel: Crores at risk

0

A lot is riding on Salaar sequel with Prashant Neel and Prabhas looking to take the film to greater heights in terms of action as well as emotions. Salaar, which was released last December was not a unanimous blockbuster like Baahubali, KGF series. It faced losses in all languages and overall only Nizam and USA regions brought breakeven while all other areas ended up in failure.

Even on OTT, the film did not receive a positive response and the recent Television premiere delivered quite a disastrous response. Salaar sequel requires a huge budget and the below-par response to the first part has certainly raised the risks. There is little anticipation from the audience on the sequel and the makers will have to overcome this major obstacle.

Prashant Neel and Hombale Films on the other hand are confident that sequel will perform way better due to it having meatier story. The makers expect the film to be a money spinner but looking at part 1 response in various platforms, the makers have a big hill to climb ahead of them.

Salaar: Shouryaanga Parvam will follow the journey as well as the backstory of Deva alongside that of his entire clan. The film will also explore the changed dynamics between Deva and Varadha Raja Mannar.

But it seems the team of Salaar and Prashant Neel are also interested in going with the sequel of Salaar first. It is even known that Prashant Neel informed NTR about the same. He has also planned to start Salaar 2 in May. But NTR’s decision puts Salaar 2 in Dilemma now.

NTR is asking Prashant Neel to go as per the commitment and the same was conveyed by the production house Mythri Movie Makers as well it seems. They want him to start NTR’s film first as they know that once Salaar 2 goes on sets, it will be completed by the next year. On the other hand, Neel says that he has to wait till November for NTR to complete his ongoing projects War 2 and Devara. He wants to complete Salaar 2 in the meantime.

NTR and Mythri Movie Makers are not happy with Neel’s decision it seems. This will eventually put Salaar 2’s release in Dilemma. If Prashant Neel goes by his word it may take time for Salaar 2 to happen and release.

0

Movie: Prasanna Vadanam
Rating: 3/5
Cast:  Suhas, Payal Radhakrishna, Rashi Singh, Viva Harsha, Nitin Prasanna
Director: Parasuram
Produced By:  Arjun Y K
Release Date: May 3rd, 2024

In an extremely short period, Suhas has carved a name for himself in Tollywood for attempting unique films with varying genres. While some films have managed to impress, others fell flat. But admirably, that has not stopped the young actor from acting in movies with fresh concepts. This week he is featured in another unique film titled ‘Prasanna Vadanam’. The film explores a unique medical condition and has created some curiosity with its trailer. Let’s find out if it manages to give the audience the thrills.

Story:

Surya, a Radio RJ, is involved in a severe accident, which results in him developing a rare condition called Prosopagnosia, also known as face blindness. As a result, he struggles to recognize the faces of those around him. One day, he witnesses the horrific murder of a young girl and reports it to the authorities, only to find himself entangled in the case. With no other options left, he seeks help from the top police officer, Vaidehi. However, the situation takes a turn for the worse as multiple charges are brought against Surya. The remainder of the story follows Surya’s journey to prove his innocence with the support of his girlfriend, Adhya.

Performances:

Suhas, renowned for his versatile characters, has been given a tailor-made role in Prasanna Vadanam. Due to the unique disease of his character, he had ample opportunity to showcase his exceptional talent in the film, and Suhas surpassed all expectations. His performance in the second half is awe-inspiring and captivates the audience until the very end. Nithin Prasanna, previously seen in Ambajipeta Marriage Band, delivers yet another reliable performance. The various shades he portrays in his acting are truly impressive. Rashi Singh, who played the role of the top cop, performs decently. Viva Harsha’s performance is satisfactory, as is Payal Radhakrishna’s.

Technical Elements

Vijay Bulganin is the composer of the film’s music, and his songs are rather average. None of the songs resonate with the audience, but the background score is notably impressive. The sound design effectively enhances the overall experience and is crafted sophisticatedly. The camera work is decent, considering the budget constraints. The production values are satisfactory, without any standout elements. The editing is flawless, ensuring a concise and focused narrative.

Positives:

  • Suhas
  • Pre and post interval episodes
  • Climax setup

Negatives:

  • Dragged feel in the latter half
  • Music
  • Routine backstory

Analysis:

The making of thriller films is a significant challenge for any writer-director. However, newcomer Arjun YK has opted for a storyline involving face blindness, a fresh concept for Telugu cinema. This unique choice adds an element of intrigue to Prasanna Vadanam. The film begins engagingly, with director Arjun swiftly delving into the central conflict. While the heroine’s introduction leads to a regular love track, this phase eventually passes, piquing the audience’s interest once again. Following the occurrence of the crime, attention shifts to the police and their approach to the case. Director Arjun’s masterful introduction of a major twist is both brilliant and unforeseen. However, as the director unveils the perpetrator behind the murder, challenges arise in managing the narrative flow.

Afterward, the proceedings start to drag and lose their excitement. Moreover, the motive behind the murderer’s actions is not convincingly portrayed. Additionally, Suhas’ behavior in the second half appears peculiar. Given his face blindness, the director could have incorporated more dramatic elements and utilized visual effects. Still, unfortunately, this does not occur, resulting in a slow progression until the pre-climax. Director Arjun demonstrates potential and effectively narrates the film for the most part. However, there are excessive cinematic liberties taken and a lack of emotional depth, which are some of the drawbacks. Prasanna Vadanam has its fair share of engaging moments that capture your attention. Nevertheless, one must be prepared for the storyline’s slow pace and shallow exploration.
