Empuraan Overseas: Record Bookings

Still, without any aggressive promotions and with the trailer not yet released, the movie’s advance bookings are off to a phenomenal start. The advance bookings opened in the USA, Canada, UK, and Germany, and the shows are already getting sold out. For example, in America, the advance bookings are now at 130K, which is already a record premiere grosser for Malayalam films with still 9 days to release. The same response is seen in the UK and Germany.

The main territory for Mollywood overseas is the Gulf countries, where bookings are expected to open by today or tomorrow, and it will definitely have a record start here. The trade is expecting a 3M range start in overseas markets, which is an all-time record start for a Malayalam cinema. Not only overseas, but in each and every territory, it is expected to create a new benchmark for Malayalam film openings.

Empuraan Set For 40 Cr Opening:

Worldwide, Marakkar is the biggest opener with around 20 Cr till now for Malayalam films. Empuraan is expected to break this record by more than double the margin, which shows how big the opening is. In Kerala, Leo is the biggest and only double-digit opener, and Empuraan is expected to break the Leo record as well. The blockbuster sequel is carrying massive craze. It did theatrical business at a record range, and now bookings are also off at the same level. The film will have a massive weekend as it is releasing on 27th March (Thursday), with a long weekend and Monday being Eid. If WOM is positive, then the numbers will be insane.

Empuraan’s trailer cut was ready a long time ago and was censored with a duration of 3:51 minutes. Due to recent hurdles, the trailer release was delayed, and the team officially announced yesterday that the update is coming today at 6 PM . The movie has been censored with a U/A certificate and has a runtime of 179.52 minutes.

Chhaava starring Vicky Kaushal had a rampage at the box office even in its 5th weekend. The film has collected more than 20 crore Nett on its 5th weekend in India which is just sensational. For 31 days, Chhaava collected around 520 crores Nett in Hindi and around 625 crores gross. Half of it has come from Maharashtra alone which is phenomenal.

Chhaava also becomes the first film to gross more than 300 crores gross in Maharashtra. The Telugu version also did well on its 2nd weekend raking in a gross of 16-17 crores. The total gross in India till 16th March is around 640 crores. With the overseas numbers, the total worldwide gross will be closer to 750 crores and is set for 800 crore+ in its full run.

This is definitely a great achievement for the team and Vicky Kaushal especially. The film has been delayed for release but has struck gold now. However, the film will short of the coveted 1000 crore gross mark worldwide.
