Karnataka Finally Caps Ticket Prices

0

For a few days, there was a big buzz about the Karnataka Government capping the ticket prices in the state, and now today an official announcement came, which has put an effective cinema ticket price cap.

The single screens’ and multiplex screens’ price cap has been fixed at ₹236 as the maximum charge, including recliners and all taxes.

However, high-end multiplex screens with 75 seats of premium facilities will not come under this price cap. It means screens like PVR Director’s Cut can continue to charge their regular ticket prices.

Karnataka Government’s Official Notification of cinema ticket price at Rs 200

On Friday, September 12, the Karnataka government announced that the highest ticket price for any movie in any language at all theaters, including multiplexes, is set at Rs 200, not counting taxes. However, multi-screen cinemas with premium features and 75 seats or fewer don’t have to follow this Rs 200 cap.

This new move is part of a bigger plan by the state government, which tried to control ticket prices back in 2017, but those efforts got stopped after the High Court intervened. The new rules coming in are likely to ease things for movie fans, especially since going to the movies at multiplexes has gotten pricier lately.

Mirai: Buy One Get One

0

Teja Sajja’s Mirai opens very huge in Telugu and is showing an excellent trend on day 2. But in Hindi the opening day net is over 1.5 Cr in India despite positive reviews. To push the film’s collections, the north distributor came up with a buy-one-get-one-ticket offer for Mirai.

Mirai Hindi: Dharma Productions Provides Buy-One-Get-One Offer

The makers expect very big collections in Hindi because of the genre, and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions released the film in India. The buy-one-get-one offer for Mirai is expected to bring good numbers today.

But this offer is valid only for shows in Hindi for India except South India (Karnataka, Andhra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala).

It can certainly help the film to witness more footfalls and to spread the positive WOM, and if the movie picks up good pace over the weekend, then Mirai’s Hindi version will see good numbers with a long run.

Fans were surprised when Aishwarya Lekshmi announced her exit from social media through an Instagram story. In her message, she wrote, “For a long time, I believed that social media was necessary to stay relevant in the industry. I thought I had to keep up with the times.”

She added that social media, which was meant to serve people, had instead taken control of her. It distracted her from her work and research, affected her thinking and language, and made simple joys feel empty.

Coolie Worldwide Closing Collections: Final Box Office Report

0

Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie was released in theaters in August amidst huge expectations. The film failed to live up to the expectations. Coolie ended its box office run with 520 Cr worldwide closing collections at the box office.

The film collected 152 Cr gross collection in Tamil Nadu, and certainly the “A” certificate affected the film’s numbers; otherwise, it could have collected around 170 Cr with U/A. The action drama collected 70 Cr gross in Telugu states, while in Karnataka it did well with 43 Cr gross collection.

Coolie’s Kerala run disappoints as it ends with 25 Cr gross, whereas it performed above expectations in North India and collected around 49 Cr gross. The total all-India box office collections are close to 340 Cr.

If we mix the overseas numbers (180 Cr gross), Coolie’s worldwide closing gross collections at the box office stand at 520 Cr.

For the film’s WOM and reviews, it definitely had superb collections, and it settled as an average venture at the box office. It is the 4th biggest grosser for Kollywood after 2.0, Jailer, and Leo.

Mirai Kills Kishkindhapuri

0

Two movies getting released on one date, and one of them getting affected by another movie, is not a new thing in the Telugu film industry. The latest fantasy adventure film, Mirai, kills Kishkindhapuri, a horror thriller in competition.

Mirai was initially planned to be released on 5th September, and it was later moved to 12th September. Bellamkonda Sreenivas and his film’s team officially stated that the Mirai team did not even approach them before announcing the release date.

Kishikindhapuri gets affected at the box office because of Mirai

Definitely, if the Mirai team had approached the Kishkindhapuri team, they could have postponed or postponed the date. But at the end of the Kishkindhapuri is the one that is affected massively by the competition.

Even though Kishkindhapuri gets positive WOM, it is getting overshadowed by Mirai’s dominance. The horror film is getting decent numbers, but if it had a solo weekend, Kishkindhapuri could have enjoyed a much bigger weekend.

At least if Kishkindhapuri had been released on 11th September, Day 1 could have seen some big numbers. In one of the promotional interviews, Bellamkonda Sreenivas expressed that the other movie’s team did not contact them.

If both movies had discussed and planned the things, Kishkindhapuri could have benefited in a big way, and absolutely there is no effect on Mirai because of Kishkindhapuri, but the latter is getting severely affected by the former.

Teja Sajja Aims Higher Than Nani And Vijay Deverakonda

Putting the Top stars aside, Nani and Vijay Devarakonda are the leading stars in the tier 2 heroes in terms of craze, business, openings, and box office milestones. But with Hanuman Teja Sajja emerging as a promising star, he aims higher than Nani and Vijay Deverakonda.

There were some analyses that Hanuman is a one-time wonder and Teja cannot carry such big hits afterward. But he proves them wrong with sensational business and openings for his latest film, Mirai, and he proves himself as an established star.

The trade expects Mirai to do 100 Cr gross in Telugu states and 150 Cr gross worldwide. If this happens, Teja Sajja will be the 1st Tier 2 hero to achieve this milestone, as even Nani and Vijay Deverakonda, or any other Tier 2 star, did not achieve this milestone.

Mirai is having a rampage weekend at the box office, with all areas’ Day 2 advances being 30% higher than opening day.

Mirai Bookings: Day 2 Outshines Day 1

0

Mirai is having a terrific opening day at the box office. The film received positive reviews, and it was reflected in its numbers. It showed a superb strength with each passing show, and the bookings for day 2 outshone day 1 of the film.

The opening day gross of the film at the box office is almost 20 Cr worldwide, and the surprising part is day 2 advance bookings are even bigger than opening day.

Mirai Bookings for Day 2 are massive

For instance, Hyderabad Day 1 BMS advance bookings are at 1.7 Cr, whereas Day 2 total is at 2.3 Cr, with more than a 30% jump. The same situation exists for bookings in all areas.

Overall, Mirai surpasses its day 1 bookings with day 2, and the film is all set to cross 50 Cr gross in the first weekend alone.

The trade expectations are at 150 Cr gross in the full run, and it can achieve more than that if the North Indian audiences connect to it.
