Rajinikanth Reveals Jailer 2 Release Date

Superstar Rajinikanth is all set to reprise his Muthuvel Pandian character from Jailer (2023) in its sequel. The fans have high hopes for this action entertainer. Now, the actor reveals the release date of Jailer 2. 

Rajinikanth reveals that the team plans to release Jailer 2 on June 12, 2026. The shoot will be completed by the end of December or the first week of January next year, with the final schedule planned in Goa.

In this way, the film’s team will have enough time to finish post-production works and plan promotions. Nelson, who made the first part, will also direct this highly anticipated sequel which will have Anirudh Ravi Chander’s music.

Meanwhile, the actor gave a shout-out to Mohanlal for snagging the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 71st National Film Awards and shared his excitement about him getting that awesome recognition.

Meiyazhagan Director Criticizes Tamil audiences

Karthi and Arvind Swamy’s Meiyazhagan was released in 2024, directed by Prem Kumar, and received much praise for its heartfelt scenes and performances, but it did not do much at the box office. The director now criticizes Tamil audiences for not making it a commercial success.

In a recent interview, director Prem Kumar mentioned that if Meiyazhagan had been made in Malayalam, it might have been celebrated by the Tamil audience. He also shared that the film did not achieve the revenue the team had anticipated.

Meiyazhagan director blames audiences and reviewers

He stated that reviewers pose a bigger threat to movies than piracy and criticized them, claiming some critics suffer from mental illness. He also mentioned that he has no fear of reviewers, which is why he is openly addressing the issue.

This response from the filmmaker received mixed responses on social media. We can understand that he felt disappointed, as his film did not receive the big success that he expected.

Pawan Kalyan’s OG is carrying rampage advance bookings for opening day with $3.5 in pre-sales overseas and 45 Cr in all of India, including the premieres, which takes the total sales over 75 Cr. The trade expects OG to score 100 Cr in pre-sales before the shows start.

Some theaters are yet to open the bookings, such as the national multiplex screens; the movie will pick up huge momentum today in advance bookings as all screens open bookings.

With 75 Cr+ in presales, “They Call Him OG” already became Pawan Kalyan’s biggest opener by breaking Hari Hara Veera Mallu’s 70 Cr opening. Also, OG can smash around 100 Cr in pre-sales before the shows start, including the weekend advances.

Till now, a very few films have had 100 Cr advances before shows start, and OG is all set to join one among them. For premieres, it already set all-time records by breaking the previous best, Pushpa 2 and Hari Hara Veera Mallu.

Nearly 24 hours are left for OG, Pawan Kalyan’s film’s massive release with premieres tomorrow. The bookings are going on a rampage note, and the trade expects the film to recover 50% of its business on day 1 itself.

In terms of pre-business, the action drama’s Andhra Pradesh theatrical rights have been sold for 100 Cr, Telangana rights for 55 Cr, and ROI and ROW rights for 25 Cr, bringing the total business to 180 Cr.

OG Opening: High expectations for the film’s box office performance.

The film needs to earn 180 Cr+ share, including GST, in Andhra and Nizam to break even. For this, it must achieve a worldwide box office gross of around 300 Cr.
