Poor response for Indian 2 first single

The much-awaited Indian 2, the sequel of Indian/Bharateeyudu has completed its shooting, and the film’s first single, Paaraa has already released. Recent music sensation Anirudh Ravichander works as the Music Director for the film. The song gathered a positive response but its views on YouTube are not so encouraging. Paaraa managed to cross 2 Million views as of now which is a poor response considering the craze of the music Indian/Bharateeyudu enjoys.

When Anirudh was announced officially as the music director for the sequel of Indian, many were disappointed. They felt Aniurdh may not live up to the expectations since A R Rahman had composed one of his career-best tunes for Indian. Now the song’s poor performance indicates the same. The team must release the teaser or trailer to increase the craze for the film. Indian 2 had already been in a release haul for a long time. The more the team drags the teaser/trailer release the bad it gets for the film’s prospects.

Indian 3, third film of the franchise will release 6 months after Indian 2’s release. So it becomes very important for Indian 2 to perform well. Shankar and Kamal Haasan look very confident about the film. The audio launch of the film is also expected to take place on June 1st. So let’s see if the team comes up with something different.

Chiranjeevi, Rajini & Ram Charan gracing Indian 2 audio event

Indian 2 the upcoming directorial of Maverick Director Shankar has completed its shoot part. The film is all set to have its audio launch event on June 1st next month. The event will happen in a grand manner at Nehru Stadium in Chennai. Many dignitaries have already been welcomed for the event. Among them are Tollywood Actor Chiranjeevi and his son, Ram Charan. They both will grace the audio launch along with Tamil Actor Rajinikanth as guests.

The first single of the film, Paaraa has already released and it opened with a positive note as well. Recent Tamil Music sensation, Anirudh Ravichander has composed the tunes for the film. It will be his official collaboration with Director Shankar. The music director event tweeted on his official X account that it was his dream to work with the former and also said that he had waited for this opportunity since he was a kid.

Shankar is currently working for Game Changer starring Ram Charan in Telugu. So the latter was invited along with his dad, Chiranjeevi for the audio launch. Rajinikanth would also appear in the event as he worked with Shankar on a few films. So it will be Kamal Haasan along with these stars in the event.

Rashmika Mandanna In Talks For Jr. NTR

Jr. NTR will be next seen in Ayan Mukherjee’s action drama film War-2. A sequel to War (2019), it features Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan as another lead. After this, he will be joining hands with Kannada filmmaker Prashanth Neel for an action drama film.

Rumoured to be titled #Dragon, it is bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers and Kalyan Ram’s Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao Arts. An official announcement stated that this project will go on the floor in August this year. Having said that, an exciting buzz regarding the project’s casting choice has leaked on the internet.

According to it, ‘National Crush’ Rashmika Mandanna has been approached to play the female lead in this flick. This would certainly improve the buzz around this project since she would be featured in multiple high-profile films very soon, most notably Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rule and Salman Khan’s Sikander.

S. S. Rajamouli’s epic action drama film RRR (2022) is a global phenomenon, to say the least. Following an excellent box-office run in India, the film premiered on Netflix and received a humongous response from the west, including top-tier filmmakers, actors, and technicians.

Ram Charan, in particular, has received high international acclaim for his performance as the hot-headed cop in the film. Most recently, an Oscar-winning Hollywood actress has lavished praise on this blockbuster film. It is none other than Anne Hathaway!

Best known for her roles in Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises, this top-tier American actress spoke highly about this Telugu film. “I loved RRR just like everyone else. It was amazing, and it would be a dream to work with anyone involved in it,” she said. Following its global success, Rajamouli confirmed that a direct sequel to RRR is in the works.

Young Beauty On Board For Mega Star’s Vishwambara!

Vishwambara is a fantasy drama film starring ‘Mega Star’ Chiranjeevi in the lead role. Helmed by Vassisshta Mallidi of Bimbisara (2022) fame, it features Trisha Krishnan as the female lead. With music composed by M. M. Keeravani, it is bankrolled on a massive budget by UV Creations.

Recently, an exciting update regarding this project has been doing the rounds on the internet. Today, an official announcement confirming the same was made by the makers. Ashika Ranganath of Naa Sami Ranga (2024) fame has been roped in for a key role in the film.

Slated for a grand release worldwide in January 2025 (Sankranthi weekend), Vishwambara carries a good buzz among audiences for multiple reasons. Having said that, it is touted to be a comeback film for ‘Mega Star’ after the debacle of Bhola Shankar (2023).

Captain Miller delivers a disastrous rating

Dhanush’s recent release Captain Miller was released on Pongal amidst massive expectations. It was released alongside Sivakarthikeyan’s Aayalan and failed to live up to the expectations and didn’t create magic at the box office. The film completely crashed in Tamil and in other languages after the first weekend and did not post decent figures at the box office.

Even on its Television premiere, the film delivered poor ratings. On SunTV, Captain Miller got 5.50 TRP. The film was planned as a three-part film but with the failure of the 1st part, there is no chance of other parts now.

Directed by Arun Matheswaran, Captain Miller made its OTT premiere on Amazon Prime Video within one month of its theatrical release. The film was made available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the film also starred Priyanka Arul Mohan, Shivarajkumar, Aditi Balan, Sundeep Kishan, and John Kokken in key roles. Overall the film ended up with 70Cr gross worldwide in all versions collections which is a below-par-average performance for the film.

Mythri Movie Makers lose crores

After the blockbuster success of Hanuman, Prashant Varma managed to create his mark at the pan-India level. Impressed by the young director’s vision, Bollywood star Ranveer Singh showed good interest in working with him. Since Prashant Varma had scripts of massive scale, Mythri Movie Makers were brought on to bankroll the project. 

The pre-production works were completed and a promo shoot was also done for the announcement. Somehow, the project has been shelved due to some unknown reasons. Due to this, Mythri Movie Makers have lost a substantial amount to the range of Rs 20 crores.

Initially, media reports suggested that this maiden collaboration between Ranveer Singh and Prasanth Varma would be titled “Rakshas” and was scheduled to go on floors in July. The film was described as a period film set in the Pre-Independence Era with a mythological backdrop, and Ranveer’s character was rumored to have shades of grey.

As fans eagerly await more updates, it remains to be seen who will take on the lead role in “Rakshas” and how Prasanth Varma will bring his vision to life.

Blockbuster multistarrer Crew available for OTT streaming

Among the various Bollywood releases that happened this year, Rajesh Krishnan’s ‘Crew’ was the biggest surprise hit. ‘Crew’ saw the combination of Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon lighting up the screen with humour and glamour. The multistarrer worked very well at the box office collecting more than 150 Cr gross. The entertainment quotient and the presence of the three talented actresses was well appreciated by the audience.

Crew’s success was a much-needed one for Bollywood which saw a string of big-budget releases that all failed. The heist comedy will now be streamed on Netflix from 24th May.

Hema Tests Positive for Drug Use

The Bangalore rave party has turned out to be the talk of the town with several Tollywood celebrities also being a part of it. Among the ones apprehended by the police, actress Hema’s name has also come up. While the actress has denied that she was not a part of any rave party, the police have confirmed her presence and she has also tested positive for drug consumption.

The rave party was held at GR Farm House near Electronic City, Bangalore and 59 out of 73 men had blood reported positive while 27 out of 30 women tested positive. Actress Hema (Krishnaveni) who has starred in over 200 Tollywood films has tested positive as well. The proof of her drug consumption was found in the blood reports.

The rave party was a sunset to sunrise party and over 150 people attended the party held on the occasion of one Vasu. The police recovered MDMA, cocaine, hydroganza at the party. The CCB has issued notices to those who tested positive.

Ilaiyaraaja sends legal notice to Manjummel Boys producers

Maverick Music Director Ilaiyaraaja has sent a legal notice to the producers of the recently released Malayalam blockbuster, Manjummel Boys. The film used his composition of the song, Kanmani Anbodu from Guna starring Kamal Haasan. He wants the song removed from the film and expects compensation for unauthorized usage of his work.

The team of Manjummel Boys is known to have already legally brought the rights from the Music Company. But Ilaiyaraaja has claimed copyright and wants compensation. We need to see how the team tackles this issue. The song and the backdrop of Guna have helped Manjummel Boys a lot. It even became the main reason for the film’s amazing performance in the Tamil version.

Ilaiyaraaja often does this when any of his songs get used in some films. He even sent notices to renowned singer, SP Balasubrahmanyam for singing his songs in some events without his consent. This sparked a big controversy then. There has been a big debate about the rights of songs of a film. Many claim that they must remain with the producer and the music company while some say that they should be with the music director. So, let’s see how far this issue goes.
