Will Sukumar Move On from Devi Sri Prasad for His Next Film?

0

Sukumar and Devi Sri Prasad have been one of Telugu cinema’s most reliable pairings — a combination stretching from Arya all the way to the blockbuster Pushpa 2: The Rule. Now, that partnership may be at a crossroads.

Cracks Appear in Pushpa 2

During Pushpa 2, Sukumar brought in additional composers for the background score — marking the first time he partially stepped away from Devi Sri Prasad. This came amid reports that DSP had upset Allu Arjun and Sukumar during the pre-release phase, adding friction to the long-standing duo.

Shashwat Sachdev in the Frame?

Strong industry buzz now points to Shashwat Sachdev — known for his work in Dhurandhar: The Revenge — being considered for Sukumar‘s next film with Ram Charan.

This puts the spotlight back on the Sukumar–Devi Sri Prasad question. Sukumar had previously confirmed DSP for the Ram Charan project, making this latest development notable.

A Critical Juncture for DSP

If Sukumar does move on, it would mark the end of one of the most iconic director-composer partnerships in Telugu cinema. Devi Sri Prasad has already been absent from several major projects of late. Missing out on Sukumar‘s next would only deepen that trend.

There is no official confirmation yet. But the buzz has already set trade circles talking, and the final call will carry real weight for both the film and Devi Sri Prasad‘s career.

Ramayana April 2 Glimpse Must Avoid the Adipurush Mistake

0

The much-awaited Ramayana glimpse is set to release on April 2, coinciding with Hanuman Jayanti. Censored at 158 seconds, this first look carries enormous weight — Adipurush‘s shadow still hangs over big-budget mythological films.

The Adipurush Warning

Om Raut‘s Adipurush, starring Prabhas, failed to impress right from its first promotional content due to poor VFX quality. Despite multiple rounds of corrections and rework, the film ended up as one of the biggest disasters in recent memory, leaving a lasting dent in audience confidence around mythological adaptations.

What’s at Stake for Ramayana

Ramayana carries massive buzz thanks to its stellar cast — Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash in key roles — backed by a strong technical crew. Expectations are sky-high that this film could set new benchmarks for Indian cinema.

That buzz cuts both ways. The April 2 glimpse needs to deliver on three fronts:

  • Give audiences a clear picture of the film’s quality and visual scale
  • Restore confidence after the setback created by Adipurush
  • Prove the strength of its VFX and world-building

A Crucial First Impression

With Ramayana Part 1 slated for a Diwali release, this April 2 glimpse is more than a promotional teaser — it’s a trust-building exercise. One strong first impression can set the stage for a historic run. One weak one can undo months of carefully built anticipation.

Dhurandhar 2 Box Office Hit by IPL After Record-Breaking Run

0

Dhurandhar: The Revenge (Dhurandhar 2) exceeded trade expectations right from its premiere shows, delivering record-breaking collections day after day. Even in the Telugu version, Ranveer Singh‘s spy thriller collected strong numbers.

The second weekend saw a slight dip in evening and night shows, but the film still registered a record second weekend for Bollywood, maintaining strong overall momentum.

Monday Drop Signals IPL Effect

The real slide became visible on Monday's box office numbers, with collections witnessing a sharp decline.

The dip is largely attributed to the Indian Premier League (IPL), which kicked off last Saturday. The tournament has started affecting both occupancy and evening show footfalls.

Cricket remains the most-followed sport in India. During events like the IPL or World Cups, box office numbers — especially for evening and night shows — routinely take a hit.

Big Targets, New Obstacle

Despite the IPL headwind, Dhurandhar 2 is still on a historic box office run. To surpass the benchmarks set by Pushpa 2: The Rule and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, the film needs to collect another ₹400 Cr+.

That requires a steady run over the next few weeks — a tall order with IPL matches dominating prime-time slots every evening.

Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit Pre-Release Business: ₹30 Cr Worldwide

0

Adivi Sesh‘s Dacoit is heading into its April 10 release with the strongest pre-release business of his career. The film has generated solid buzz through its promotional content, and Sesh’s reputation for content-driven cinema has boosted trade confidence. Combined worldwide theatrical business stands at approximately ₹30 Cr.

Dacoit Pre-Release Business Breakdown

Telugu theatrical rights have been sold at strong territory-wise numbers:

TerritoryRights Value
Andhra (6 territories)₹10 Cr
Nizam₹7 Cr+
Total Telugu States~₹20 Cr
Overseas₹6.5 Cr
Total (Telugu version)~₹30 Cr

Dacoit also features Mrunal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap in key supporting roles.

Breakeven Target and Box Office Challenge

To recover its investment, Dacoit needs to gross approximately ₹50 Cr+ in the Telugu version alone. That sets a challenging breakeven mark ahead of the April 10 release.

The film is also releasing in Hindi, targeting a wider pan-India audience — a strategy Adivi Sesh successfully executed with Major.

Can Dacoit Top Adivi Sesh’s Career at the Box Office?

After the pan-India success of Major, expectations are running high for Adivi Sesh to deliver another crossover hit. Given the scale of Dacoit‘s pre-release business, the film must emerge as his biggest grosser to be declared a full success. The record pre-release numbers signal strong trade confidence — the April 10 opening will be closely watched.

Dhurandhar 2 Sequel Tops Part 1 in 12 Days: ₹1300 Cr Gross

0

Dhurandhar 2 sequel has made history at the box office. Dhurandhar: The Revenge crossed a massive ₹1300 Cr gross in just 12 days, surpassing Part 1's all-time collections before completing two weeks in cinemas.

How Many Days Did Each Sequel Take to Beat Part 1?

Here’s how Dhurandhar 2 stacks up against the biggest Indian blockbuster sequels:

MovieDays to Beat Part 1Gap Between Releases
Baahubali 24 days2 years
KGF 22 days3+ years
Pushpa 22 days3 years
Kantara Chapter 16 days3 years
Dhurandhar 212 days3 months

Why 12 Days Is Still a Remarkable Number

Dhurandhar 2 took the longest on this list to surpass Part 1. But the gap tells the full story — every other sequel had two to three years between parts, giving originals time to build a massive fanbase through theatrical runs and OTT.

Part 1 had itself turned into a blockbuster after a slow start, eventually crossing ₹1300 Cr at the box office. Dhurandhar 2 arrived just three months later, with that ₹1300 Cr number as its first benchmark. Clearing it in under two weeks — with a fraction of the usual build-up time — is a different kind of achievement. All other sequels here collected double or triple what their originals did; Dhurandhar 2‘s target was already massive from day one.

Allu Arjun-Atlee Film: Why Title & Poster Alone Won’t Be Enough

0

Allu Arjun and Atlee‘s upcoming collaboration is shaping up to be one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious productions — a reported ₹800 Cr sci-fi spectacle backed by Sun Pictures, featuring Deepika Padukone, Mrunal Thakur, Rashmika Mandanna, and Janhvi Kapoor. Shoot began around June last year and has been running for nearly 10 months.

With Allu Arjun‘s birthday on April 8, expectations were high for a major reveal — ideally a glimpse into the film’s world. But strong buzz suggests the team may only release the title and first look, with no visual content.

Birthday Buzz vs. Reality

Fans had hoped April 8 would bring a proper glimpse into AA22‘s world. Instead, buzz points to just a title and first look poster — no footage, no visual reveal. For a film of this scale, that’s a significant disappointment.

Why a Glimpse Matters for This Film

From a trade perspective, just a title and poster may not be enough. OTT platforms and distributors are reportedly holding back on business deals until they can see actual footage from AA22.

The Varanasi team proved what a well-timed visual reveal can do — their theme video attracted massive business interest almost immediately. That’s the benchmark the trade has in mind for Atlee and Allu Arjun‘s film.

Not a Regular Atlee Film

Atlee‘s earlier mass entertainers could build buzz on star power alone. AA22 is different — a VFX-heavy sci-fi film that raises specific questions:

  • Can Atlee deliver top-tier visual effects at this scale?
  • How strong will the world-building be?

In the sci-fi space, visuals are the pitch. Without footage, those questions stay unanswered — leaving fans and the trade guessing.

The Risk of Holding Back

Continuing to withhold visual content could:

  • Increase pressure on the makers ahead of the birthday
  • Dampen fan enthusiasm if expectations aren’t met
  • Slow down business momentum in the market

No official confirmation yet on what exactly will drop on April 8. But for a film at the scale of AA22, a title and first look alone may not be enough.

SKN Clarifies Peddi Release Date After Accidental Slip

0

Producer SKN‘s offhand remark about Peddi at a Chennai Love Story promotional event sent the Telugu film industry grapevine into overdrive — until SKN stepped forward with a video clarification and apology.

The SKN Peddi Comment That Sparked the Confusion

Ram Charan‘s Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana under the Vriddhi Cinemas banner, was announced for an April 30 theatrical release. Since the film had already been postponed once, speculation about a second delay had been building on social media.

At a Monday evening promotional event at Allu Cinemas for the upcoming film Chennai Love Story — starring Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya — co-producer SKN addressed the crowd. “We initially planned to release Chennai Love Story on June 26,” he said. “But Sai Rajesh just told me that Peddi is also coming on the same date. So, we will announce our film’s release date soon.”

The comment spread fast. Trade circles began reading it as confirmation that Peddi had quietly shifted its release date — even though the makers had made no official announcement.

SKN Issues Apology and Explains the Mix-Up

In a video statement released shortly after, SKN broke down exactly what happened.

“There was a small miscommunication during the first single launch event,” he said. “When I asked Sai Rajesh about our release date, he told me that tweets were going around about Peddi releasing on June 26 — and that we should wait for an official confirmation before announcing ours. But in all the noise and excitement, I misheard and thought the date had already been confirmed.”

He added that he only realized the mistake after stepping off the stage.

“Something I said got taken the wrong way, making it look like I had announced the release date of a major film. I sincerely apologize for that. Please do not misunderstand my intention.”

SKN was also clear that he has no information about Peddi being postponed. “I have not heard anywhere that the film has been postponed. If there is any such update, the makers themselves will announce it. Whenever Peddi releases, it is sure to become a huge success.”

The clarification has put the rumours to rest for now. The Peddi team is yet to make any official statement on the release date.

Dhurandhar 2 Box Office Day 12: First Major Monday Drop

0

Dhurandhar: The Revenge has recorded its first major Monday drop, with Day 12 box office collections landing in the ₹23 Cr nett range — a sharp fall of over 60% from its ₹60 Cr+ second Sunday.

The film had posted record numbers through its second weekend, making this Dhurandhar Monday decline the first real dip in its otherwise exceptional run. Overseas markets also witnessed a significant slowdown on the same day.

For context, the original Dhurandhar had posted ₹30 Cr+ on its second Monday — making the sequel’s fall more noticeable in comparison.

Day 12 Collections

DayIndia Nett
Second Sunday (Day 11)₹60 Cr+
Second Monday (Day 12)~₹23 Cr
Drop60%+

Milestones Already Crossed

Despite the Dhurandhar Monday dip, the 12-day worldwide gross has crossed ₹1300 Cr — placing Dhurandhar: The Revenge in historic territory:

  • Surpassed the lifetime collection of Dhurandhar (Part 1)
  • Highest-grossing Bollywood film, excluding China releases

What’s Left to Chase?

The bigger benchmarks still ahead require approximately ₹400 Cr more:

Target FilmWorldwide Gross
Pushpa 2: The Rule₹1665 Cr
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (excl. China)₹1700+ Cr

The sharp Monday drop could impact its long-term run. Sustained weekday holds will determine whether Dhurandhar: The Revenge can challenge Bollywood’s all-time box office giants.

Case Filed Against TVK’s Vijay for Election Code Violations

0

A Vijay case has put the spotlight on Thalapathy Vijay‘s election campaign, with the Peravallur Police in Chennai registering charges against the TVK chief for allegedly violating election code of conduct rules. With the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approaching, the development has drawn significant attention.

The Violations That Triggered the Case

The case was filed following a formal complaint lodged by an election officer. Two key violations were cited:

  • Over 5,000 people had gathered at the campaign location, far exceeding the permitted limits
  • The campaign event reportedly blocked an ambulance route — a serious public safety concern

Based on these violations, the Peravallur Police registered the case under five different sections of the law.

What This Means for Vijay’s Campaign

This legal development arrives at a pivotal moment for Vijay‘s political journey. The TVK chief has already been navigating several challenges ahead of the Tamil Nadu elections, and this case adds fresh scrutiny to his campaign operations.

The incident has sparked discussions around campaign management and compliance with election regulations — issues that could have broader implications as voting day nears.

Just a day before the case was registered, Vijay officially disclosed his assets as part of his nomination for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
