Vijay’s Varisu is one of the biggies scheduled for Sankranti 2023 release. The film will be released alongside Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya and Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy. Ace producer Dil Raju is bankrolling Varisu which is essentially a Tamil movie also releasing in Telugu.
The Telugu Film Producer’s Council has taken serious objection to Dil Raju’s Tamil film Varisu releasing during the festive season. They are of the opinion that as discussed earlier and agreed by Raju himself, Telugu releases must be given priority during Dusshera and Sankranti. Dil Raju has a sizable power in Nizam region and his decision to release Varisu will obviously mean lesser theatres for Chiru and Balayya’s movies.
The TFPC released a press note in this connection and said that Raju himself agreed to this statement back in 2019 and the producer has stated the exact thing in many interviews in past. The association is of the opinion that Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya must be given first priority and Dil Raju can choose to either postpone or prepone Vijay’s Varisu accordingly.
