Suzhal: The Vortex Season 2 Review – An Engaging Thriller despite some issues

Suzhal: The Vortex Season 2 is one of the most awaited Web Series for the OTT Viewers. Craeated by Pushkar and Gayatri, the first installment was a huge success. Let’s check out whether the second season of Suzhal: The Vortex has met the expectations in our review.

Story:

Kaalipattanam police face a crisis as eight women from various towns confess to murdering lawyer Chellappa. Inspector Sakkarai has a strong connection to this murder case involving Nandini, who is in jail for killing her abuser. The rest of the story is how Sakkarai finds the killer with the help of Nandini.

Performances:

Aishwarya Rajesh gives a convincing performance though her character is sidelined for a while. Lal is excellent in a crucial role, and Kathir is superb too, along with Manjima Mohan. Gouri Kishan, Saravanan and others are good.

Suzhal Season 2 mirrors the first season, featuring a high-profile murder during a local festival. The concept is fascinating, with strong character development and conflicts. A notable festival scene unfolds at the end of the second episode, introducing additional suspects in Chellappa’s murder. The act alternates with the engaging Ashtakaalis’ parade during the festival. The overall plot regarding the murder lacked depth. Sakkarai and Inspector Moorthy struggle with the case, pursuing every clue they find. 

Still, one can feel that the investigation could have been more captivating. Not every suspect captivates the audience. But there is also some clever writing. Upon learning the suspects will be imprisoned, Sakkarai arranges for them to be placed with Nandini, who is assigned to extract information. This part is executed nicely, with the prison scenes handled properly despite some lengthy moments.

Suzhal: The Vortex Season 2 is an engaging thriller despite some issues. Though the middle episodes and a few characters are not that great, the main characters/performances and twists, along with a good climax, work correctly for the series.
