Even for good director-hero combinations, the producer is always assured that he will either make his money back or at the very least, not lose any money.
Because these kinds of films used to make good money at the box office. People used to watch the films just owing to star power or because of the combination. But this has changed for the better. People no longer just go to watch a movie because the actor is good or the combination works. There are many options to choose from in all industries, so the only key to success is a good film.
As a result of this, producers are now going through huge losses. The buyers who used to give offers blindly for star-driven films and top directors have changed their ways. They are keen to know what is happening during the shooting, whether it is going smoothly or there are issues. They are also looking at whether the output is coming good or not.
And when the media reports the clashes during the shooting, the buyers are immediately changing their minds and asking for lower prices. These clashes that mainly occur between the director, hero, and producers are proving to be detrimental to the producers, who are facing losses.
Even in recent times, we have seen this occur multiple times in many movies. It is time for the producers to understand that what worked 10 years ago will simply not work now. The times have changed and so, they must change too or they will just be left behind.
