Thammudu an Outright Disaster

0

Nithiin’s latest film, Thammudu, was released in theaters yesterday amidst poor buzz, and it received a unanimous negative response from audiences and critics. Thammudu becomes an outright disaster on its first day itself.

The producer of the film, Dil Raju, mentioned that it was made with a budget of 75 Cr. Sriram Venu is the director of the film. Even with such a decent combination, the film could not create even minimum buzz before release.

Thammudu Box Office: Disastrous Start

The film’s morning shows opened with unanimous bad reviews and WOM. With this, the collections dropped with each show, and even the 2nd show collections were not good.

The continuous failures are affecting Nithin’s films a lot, as the openings are decreasing with each film. This action drama opened with less than a 1 Cr share in Telugu states, which says how bad it is, and there is no sign of improvement.

Nithiin’s Thammudu becomes an outright disaster on its first day. The film’s theatrical breakeven is 25 Cr, and looking at the current scenario, even recovering 15% from the pre-business is also very tough for the film.

Metro In Dino Movie Review: A Decent Musical Love Drama With Few Flaws

0

Movie Name: Metro In Dino
Rating: 2.75/5
Cast:
Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh
Director: Anurag Basu
Produced By:
Bhushan Kumar, Krishna Kumar
Release Date: 4th July 2025

Metro In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu, brings to life a musical romantic drama filled with the heartfelt experiences of today’s couples. All four narratives will link together at some point in the movie. The four tales take place in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Bangalore.

Story:

The movie follows three couples at different stages of life, each dealing with their own struggles in various Indian cities.

Performances:

Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara Ali Khan pull off their eccentric characters like pros. Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta totally nail their roles, and Pankaj Tripathi brings his usual convincing performance.

Ali Fazal and Fatima Sana Shaikh are perfect, and they excel in the intense/emotional scenes. Konkona Sen Sharma shines in this role; it’s like a walk in the park for her. Pranay Pachauri, Kush Jotwani, Saswata Chatterjee, and Darshana Banik fit the bill.

Analysis:

Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino shows the lives of three couples, and it concentrates on mainly seven characters.

Monty (Pankaj Tripathi) and Kajol (Konkona Sen Sharma) are a middle-aged couple, while Chamki (Sara Ali Khan) and Parth (Aditya Roy Kapur) represent the younger generation.

Akash (Ali Fazal) and Shruti (Fatima Sana Shaikh) hit a rough spot after their beautiful wedding. Shibani (Neena Gupta) is on a journey of self-discovery after spending 40 years married to her husband (Saswata Chatterjee), while Parimal (Anupam Kher), a widower, just wants to make his daughter-in-law happy, who also is a widow.

Written by Basu, with Samrat Chakraborty and Sandeep Shrivastava helping him on dialogues, Metro… In Dino is a musical love drama. It points out that imperfections make men human, and that helps us connect with them.

The movie runs a little long since it takes its time to unfold the stories. The first half has a fun feel as it sets up all the characters and their storylines. The graph spikes when a hilarious social media feud between Monty and Kajol nearly wrecks their marriage. Moreover, the unexpected but unavoidable confrontation between same Akash and Shruti which further breaks their friendship with Parth.

The second half gets a bit lengthy as it goes into the path of over indulgence for a while. Again, the dynamic between Monty and Kajol works here along with the patch up of Akash and Shruti.

Chamki and Parth keep a playful vibe, but Shibani’s self-discovery and school reunion trip appear slow.

It can feel a little boring at points, but the climax nails it with all the pairs uncovering their truths and tackling their troubles. The music fits perfectly with the movie and plays a key role in telling the story.

Positives:

  • Performances
  • Music
  • Heartfelt Scenes/Dialogues

Negatives:

  • Few Unexplained Scenes
  • Too Slow at times
  • Dragged Scenes in Second Half

Metro In Dino Movie Review and Verdict:

Metro… In Dino might have its issues, but it genuinely tries to share stories where love and hope shine through. The authentic acting, lovable scenes, and moving tunes definitely help it out, but the drawn-out storytelling and redundancy drag it down.

3BHK Movie Review: An Honest But Stretched Emotional Drama

0

Movie Name: 3BHK
Rating: 2.75/5
Cast:
Siddharth, Sarath Kumar, Meetha Raghunath, Devayani, Chaithra J Achar, Yogi Babu and others
Director: Sri Ganesh
Produced By:
Arun Vishwa
Release Date: 4th July 2025

Directed by Sri Ganesh, 3BHK tells the story of a middle-class family chasing their dream of owning a home, featuring actors Siddharth (who was last seen in Miss You), Sarath Kumar, Meetha Raghunath, Devayani, and others. Let us find out how the movie has been shaped up.

Story:

3BHK follows a family as they tackle obstacles to secure their perfect house at any price.

Performances:

Siddharth gives a convincing performance, though he looks odd in young age scenes. His acting in emotional parts is superb. Sarath Kumar shows his mettle in a simple and sincere father’s character. Meetha Raghunath and Chaitra Achar are good while Devayani makes her presence felt despite having lesser importance. Yogi Babu presents some laughs with his cameo.

Analysis:

Director Sri Ganesh’s ‘3BHK’ has shown itself to be a touching family drama since its teaser and trailer dropped. It tries to live up to it with an honest intent!

‘3BHK ‘is about the struggle of a middle-class family man having a dream of owning a house. His family faces constant interruptions from life’s little surprises. Both the halves of the film have some solid emotional and drawn out parts as well.

The scenes involving Siddharth’s school and college life appear a bit rushed, but the family scenes have that natural vibe. The film gathers the strength around the pre-interval part and ends the first half on a good note.

3BHK’s Second Half shows more struggles of the family. Sarath Kumar’s character and his fight to reach his goal is shown well.Siddharth’s struggle to be competent in his job life impresses, and especially the scene with his manager strikes the chord. The leading parts to the climax also work, where the director shows it is not too late to restart the life.

The scenes involving Meetha Raghunath’s marriage and fall out sequence could have been etched more strongly.

Positives:

  • Performances
  • Natural Emotions
  • Identifiable Characters/Scenes

Negatives:

  • Routine Moments
  • Feels Stretched Out in Certain Spots

3BHK Movie Review and Verdict:

Overall, Sri Ganesh’s 3BHK is a neatly made family emotional drama that works despite its known core. There are drawn out and predictable scenes, but the natural performances and crucial moments make it watchable.

Thammudu Movie Review: Misses The Target

0

Movie Name: Thammudu
Rating: 2/5
Cast:
Nithin, Swasika Vijay, Saptami Gowda, Varsha Boolamma, Laya
Director: Venu Sriram
Produced By:
Raju – Sirish
Release Date: 27th June 2025

Nithiin returns to the big screen with “Thammudu”, an emotional action drama that shows the deep bond between a brother and sister. Directed by Venu Sriram, known for Vakeel Saab, the film, with a low buzz, has hit theatres today.

The film’s producer, Dil Raju, has shown a lot of confidence during the film’s promotions and stated that it will provide a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience for audiences. Let us find out whether the film lives up to his hype or not.

Story:

Thammudu basically revolves around Jay (Nithiin) and his journey to find his sister (Laya). It dives into why he feels the need to reach out, what pushes him forward, and how he pulls her out of a life-or-death scenario. The film centers on their emotional reunion.

Performances:

Nithiin takes on the major role, and while it seems unique at first glance, it fits into the usual vibe and does not leave a lasting impression. Laya’s character is important in the movie, but there is not much for her to do.

Varsha Bollamma has a good chunk of screen time and delivers. Sapthami Gouda performs adequately as the female lead, and Swasika is decent. Srikanth Iyyengar and Hari Teja effectively fulfill their supporting roles.

Saurabh Sachdeva excels as the villain. His character offers a fresh perspective, setting him apart from standard villains, and his solid acting leaves a good impression.

Analysis:

Sriram Venu directs Thammudu. It opens strongly, featuring an engaging villain that captures interest. He effectively shows his strengths and weaknesses.

The hero gets a usual setup, but his issues with his sister are definitely worth watching. The film leans heavily on emotion and action from that point to the interval. While the emotion stays at the surface, the action also does not get the desired result, though the surrounding ideas are fresh.

Moments that matter, such as the hero’s initial encounter with his sister and what makes them stick together, seem pretty outdated and lackluster, leading to a weak emotional response.

Sapthami Gouda’s character Ratna, who helps the hero using a radio kind of system, seems unconvincing. Once the interval episode shows up, you certainly feel drained, but there is still hope for a more enjoyable time after that.

Most of the second half takes place in just one night. The setup here is cool, but it lacks the expected excitement or thrill. Despite the characters being in danger, the audience is not bothered about it. Even the climax episode is dragged with a repetitive action sequence

Positives:

  • Initial Scenes
  • Few Action Sequences (Idea Wise)
  • Ajaneesh Loknath’s BGM

Negatives:

  • Uninteresting and Tiresome Narration
  • Outdated Scenes
  • No Highs/Emotions Whatsoever
  • Repetitive Action Episodes

Thammudu Movie Review and Verdict

Sriram Venu’s Thammudu sets out to deliver an emotional action adventure, but it misses the boat on both counts. Aside from a handful of moments, the performances, and proceedings do not establish a memorable effect.

Coolie Creates History in North America

Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated film Coolie has already made headlines by creating history in the overseas market, even before its theatrical release. The North America theatrical rights for Coolie have been acquired by Prathyangira Cinemas for a staggering ₹30 crore, marking the highest-ever deal for a Kollywood film in the region. This surpasses all previous benchmarks, including Jailer, which grossed an impressive $7.2 million and held the title of the top-performing Tamil film in North America.

For Coolie to achieve breakeven, the film now needs to rake in over $7.5 million — a tough milestone, especially with the release of War 2 around the same time. However, trade circles are confident that the combination of Rajinikanth’s u star power and the movies mass appeal will break all the records.

Industry experts believe that Coolie has the potential to become the first Tamil film to cross the $10 million mark in North America, provided it receives strong positive talk after the release. With tremendous hype and solid pre-release business, Coolie is not just a film — it’s an event that could redefine the market for Tamil cinema in the international arena.
