Allu Arjun’s pan-India action drama Pushpa 2 has been the talk of the town for the past couple of months. The extensive pan-India promotions followed by a grand release led to record-breaking opening numbers. Here’s the language-wise box-office verdict of this Sukumar film.

Telugu

Pushpa 2 was sold at record prices and managed to recover around 80% for most of the buyers. Even in the overseas market, the blockbuster success of the Hindi version covered for Telugu version. If we see just the Telugu version, Pushpa 2 has underperformed and didn’t stand up to expectations.

Tamil

The Tamil version can be considered as an above-average box-office fare. The film collected around Rs 75 crores whereas the makers had expected Rs 100 crores + gross from Tamil.

Malayalam

Pushpa 2 Malayalam version was an outright disaster and this result has shocked everyone. The film was expected to do well considering Allu Arjun’s sizable fan following and aggressive promotions in Kerala. Unfortunately, the film couldn’t manage any stronghold right from its initial days.

Hindi

It’s safe to say that Pushpa 2 Hindi collections more than covered up for disater to above average collections in each of the other languages. Hindi version of the film is now the industry hit and biggest blockbuster with 1000 Cr collection from Hindi alone. It has registered an all time record collection and created a new benchmark in Hindi film industry

Overall, Pushpa 2 is a super hit and the 3rd biggest grosser for Indian film after Dangal and Baahubali 2.

Naga Chaitanya’s Winning Lineup

0

Naga Chaitanya is facing a flop streak at the box office, with his last few films, such as Custody and Thank You, failing miserably. Even his Bollywood debut in Amir Khan starter Lal Singh Chaddha couldn’t bring the young hero the much-needed success.

It appears that he has learned from those failures and is extremely selective, picking very interesting projects with huge box office potential. At the moment, he is working on Thandel, co-starring Sai Pallavi. The film is slated to release next month and has already created positive buzz with two songs and a teaser.

After Thandel, Naga Chaitanya will be seen in Virupaksha director Karthik Dandu’s next film. This film will be a big-budget mystery thriller. He will also team up with Baahubali producers for a horror thriller which will be shot on a big budget with a new director.

With such an exciting lineup and new genres, Naga Chaitanya seems to have realized that fresh concepts are the only way to success.

A big blunder by Suriya’s Retro team

0

Suriya’s film directed by Karthik Subbaraj has been titled Retro which had its teaser released on Christmas. The teaser received a stunning response on social media. But the team committed a big blunder by not announcing its release date. The planned release date was for 10th April but it wasn’t announced. Now, this has been occupied by Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly.

The makers of Good Bad Ugly have officially announced that the film will arrive on 10th April. Rajinikanth’s Coolie is speculated to release on May 1st and Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life was announced for June. So, the Retro team must act quickly and come up with a release date. Preferring March month would be a good choice to avoid a clash with any film by having a solo release.

If they delay this response, some other film may take the slot. Suriya’s previous film, Kanguva too suffered big by not announcing the release date which was occupied by Vettaiyan. So, they must learn from this.

Renowned filmmaker Shankar is gearing up for the release of his Telugu directorial debut, ‘Game Changer’, slated for a grand release on January 10, coinciding with the festive Pongal season. In an interview Shankar delved into the making of the film, his approach to storytelling, and working with Ram Charan.

‘Game Changer’ is Shankar’s first straight Telugu film, which will also be released in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. “Chiranjeevi Sir has watched the film and was thoroughly impressed. His confidence in its success gives me immense hope,” Shankar shared.

Discussing Ram Charan’s involvement, he revealed that the process fell into place naturally. “It’s always about timing, availability, and interest. With Ram Charan and producer Dil Raju, everything aligned perfectly,” he explained. Shankar praised Ram Charan’s innate energy, describing it as “a controlled power that erupts with impact when needed,” highlighting the actor’s ability to balance subtlety with intense emotions.

While Shankar’s films often tackle corruption, ‘Game Changer’ explores governance from an administrative officer’s perspective. Though inspired by a script from Karthik Subbaraj, Shankar emphasized that it does not portray any specific individual.

Adapting another filmmaker’s story was a new challenge for Shankar. “It was about maintaining Karthik’s essence while incorporating my vision. I hope I’ve done justice,” he remarked. He believes in the supremacy of content, noting, “Grand visuals support the narrative, but a well-crafted story ensures success.” With expectations soaring, ‘Game Changer’ promises to blend strong storytelling with Shankar’s signature grandeur.
