Viduthalai 2: Extended footage on OTT

Viduthalai 2 directed by Vetrimaaran made its OTT streaming recently on Amazon Prime Video. The film released on OTT with a censored runtime and Vetrimaaran clarified that they had to trim more for a crisp runtime in the theatres adding that the extended version will make it to the OTT.

But this didn’t happen and viewers were not happy with this. Now, the news is that the makers have been thinking of adding this one-hour additional footage to the already existing OTT version soon on Prime Video.

This is indeed a good news for the audience who were waiting for the extended version. Viduthalai 2 failed to create much impact at the box office and also delivered a first failure to Vetrimaaran. The prequel’s theatrical and OTT performance had been very good but it didn’t continue with the sequel. So, now it needs to be seen how the extended version would impress the viewers.

L2: Empuraan runtime details

L2: Empuraan starring Mohanlal is the official sequel of the Actor’s blockbuster, Lucifer. The film is carrying huge expectations and buzz. It is scheduled for a worldwide release on 27th March this year as a Summer bonanza. Empuraan’s runtime details are also finalised now by the team.

The first cut of the film is said to have come out for 3 hours, i.e., 180 minutes. The final trimming process is on, and the final cut may also end up anywhere between 2 hours 50 minutes and 2 hours 54 minutes, making it just short of 3 hours. The film is also in trials for an IMAX screening, as confirmed by the Director Prithviraj Sukumaran.

L2: Empuraan is riding around with a great level of hype and also stands as the most anticipated film in Mollywood in recent times. The film is also on track to re-write all the existing records. This was even indicated by the response the recently released Teaser received.

Lucifer managed to gross more than 200 crores worldwide, shocking the trade experts. Now, L2: Empuraan is expected to reach anywhere near the 300 crores mark. If the indications hold right with the audience, the film has all the chances of pulling this off.

Parasakthi is the 25th film of Tamil Star Actor Sivakarthikeyan. The actor scored a big blockbuster with Amaran and is working on another film under the direction of A R Murugadoss. There are heavy expectations for his film with Sudha Kongara, which is titled Paraskathi, and all the details of the film are here.

The film is a big-budget period film set in the 1950s and 1960s, and it will be shot across real locations across Tamilnadu. The Sudha Kongara directional consists of 5 amazing songs, and the interesting thing is, that 2 of them are already shot. The first schedule of shooting happened in Chennai, the second schedule at Puducherry, third schedule at Chidambaram. 

The entire shoot is planned to be wrapped by July 2025. Parasakthi’s details are as follows. The film is based on anti-Hindi imposition, and it mainly deals with an issue between students and a powerful politician. 

Ravi Mohan plays the politician’s role, while Atharvaa and Sreeleela appear as other crucial characters alongside Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role. Dawn Pictures is backing the film, and GV Prakash Kumar is the film’s music composer. The makers are targeting an October release.

Kollywood Director Vetrimaaran is currently facing big backlash on social media platforms. The Director and Bollywood Director Anurag Kashyap have jointly produced a film titled Bad Girl. The film’s Teaser was released recently and this created a major uproar for its blunt depiction of the female lead as a Brahmin played by Anjali Sivaraman.

Vetrimaaran was always respected greatly by the Tamil Audiences for his path-breaking films, which also became big blockbusters at the box office. He never received any form of hatred or trolls for his films. But surprisingly, he has now come under a huge barrage of trolls for producing Bad Girl.

The film, as said, as shown in The Teaser, deals with the hardships faced by a Brahmin Girl and concentrates on how she imagines her life as an individual. A few of the scenes shown in The Teaser shocked the netizens with their openness and rebellious outlook on life. This also didn’t go well which made them brutally criticise the Director Varsha Bharath, Producers Vetrimaaran and Anurag Kashyap.

Actor Vijay Sethupathi and Director Pa. Ranjith promoted the film on their official X/Twitter handles, praising the film’s theme and storytelling. Interestingly, they too, received great trolling from the netizens who also slammed them for promoting this film. It went to the extent that Vijay Sethupathi disabled the reply section on his post.

It needs to be seen what range of outrage the film causes when its Trailer gets released. Till now, there has been no comment made by the team regarding the online trolling and criticism. So, let’s wait and see how the team reacts.

Parasakthi: A costly miss for Suriya?

Kollywood Actor Siva Karthikeyan’s 25th film, directed by Sudha Kongara, has been titled Parasakthi. The film also stars Jayam Ravi (Ravi Mohan) and Atharvaa portraying crucial roles along with Sree Leela playing the female lead. The teaser was also released today, and it received a sensational response. Parasakthi was initially planned with Suriya as Suriya44 but the Actor opted out later. Now, will this be a costly miss for the Actor, with the teaser raising peak expectation level?

Suriya came on board for the film at first re-uniting with Director Sudha Kongara after their acclaimed film, Soorarai Pottru/Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Raa. Malayalam Actors Fahadh Faasil, Dulquer Salmaan and Nazriya Nazim were also cast along with him. But Suriya dropped his involvement, leading to a cast shuffle now. Sree Leela replaced Nazriya whereas Atharvaa replaced Dulquer Salmaan and Jayam Ravi (Ravi Mohan) replaced Fahadh Faasil.

The film is said to be based on Anti Hindi imposition in Tamil Nadu. It was believed that Suriya wanted to avoid controversy with the film who also had plans of acting in Bollywood film planned on mythological character, Karna. But this film was also shelved recently with the debacle of Kanguva.

Now, after watching the Teaser, most netizens feel that the film would have been a big film for Suriya if he had not considered opting out. They also not happy with him choosing Kanguva over such films.
