Devara: Bigger Hit than Pushpa

NTR’s much-anticipated film Devara is causing quite a stir at the box office. Amidst Devara’s success, it has prompted admirers to compare its credits to Allu Arjun’s legendary film Pushpa. Pushpa Part 1 performed exceptionally well in other languages. However, it does not perform well in Telugu. Corona and ticket issues were important causes for Puspha’s slow performance in Andhra. But overall, in Telugu states and overseas, Devara outperforms Pushpa by a wide margin.

In Hindi, Devara is expected to collect 45 crore in its first week, while Pushpa collected in the range of 26 crore. While Pushpa had a longer run in Hindi, Devara is also maintaining the same momentum and is close to Pushpa’s numbers. But Devara is battling to beat Pushpa in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Devara failed to build excitement in Tamil Nadu and Kerala; therefore, Pushpa will take the lead.

Devara is on track to beat Pushpa’s lifetime collections this week. Like Pushpa, Devara is a multi-part film. Pushpa 2 is now experiencing a surge in popularity. Rajinikanth was hospitalized in Chennai on Monday, September 30. The hospital has now issued a medical bulletin regarding his health.The bulletin, provided by Apollo Hospitals , stated that a stent was placed inside the actor’s heart to shut off the bulge. It also stated that Rajinikanth was doing well and will be freed from the hospital in a few days.

The complete bulletin stated, “Mr. Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, on September 30, 2024. He developed a bulge in the main blood channel leaving his heart (the aorta), which was addressed with a non-surgical transcatheter procedure. Dr. Sai Satish, a senior interventional cardiologist, put a stent in the aorta to totally seal off the bulge (endovascular repair). We’d like to inform his supporters and fans that the procedure went as anticipated. Mr. Rajinikanth is stable and performing nicely. He should return home in two days (sic).

Earlier, the actor’s wife, Latha Rajinikanth, informed the media that “all is well” but declined to reveal any further information regarding his condition. The 73-year-old was admitted to the hospital after allegedly complaining of stomach ache. Meanwhile, the actor is preparing for the release of his upcoming flim Vettaiyan. TJ Gnanavel directs the film, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan in a key part. It is scheduled to hit theaters on October 10. The superstar is also working on his second film, Coolie.

Vettaiyan starring Rajinikanth is gearing up for release on October 10th worldwide. The film’s censor formalities have been completed now and are out as well. Vettaiyan has been certified with a U/A and has a run time of 163.25 minutes which is 2 hours and 43 minutes. The film’s plot summary and other details are also provided below.

The summary states that an encounter specialist begins his hunt in order to seek justice for a victim. As we all know Rajinikanth plays this encounter specialist police officer in the film. Vettaiyan has also had 3 cuts ordered by the CBFC board. These were some modifications to original dialogues. Some words were also muted from the film. Apart from these, there are no major cuts.

Directed by T.G. Gnanvel, the film is produced by Lyca Productions. Vettaiyan also stars Bollywood biggie, Amitabh Bachchan and Fahadh Faasil and Rana Daggubati playing pivotal roles in the film. After an extraordinary 1st weekend, Devara had a decent first weekday on Monday. In Hindi, it showcased excellent hold with a Rs 3.75 Cr net. In Telugu states, Devara’s hold was decent to good in some territories while some territories saw a drop. Overall, the Telugu states collected around 4.7 Cr share. The film posted decent numbers in the overseas territories as well.

In total, Devara collected around 18 Cr gross on its fourth day which now takes the total closer to 270 Cr worldwide. From today’s evening shows, the film is expected to take a jump due to the advantage of Gandhi Jayanti tomorrow. The film will cross the 300 Cr mark tomorrow . Devara is all set to achieve breakeven and is set to emerge as a Hit.

If Devara holds well over the coming weekend, it will become a huge blockbuster. It was one of the biggest weekends for Telugu cinema, and NTR fully showcased his star power to bring in huge numbers at the box office.
