Ranabaali is Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming period action drama, directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers, with T-Series presenting it. Set against the backdrop of 19th-century colonial India, the film draws from lesser-known historical incidents and oral histories, with Vijay playing the titular warrior Ranabaali and Rashmika Mandanna portraying Jayamma, his wife. Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo, best known for The Mummy, plays the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector, while Ajay-Atul compose the music and Nirav Shah handles cinematography.
Ranabaali Gets a New Release Date
The makers have now unveiled a powerful new poster featuring Vijay in his fierce warrior avatar and announced that Ranabaali will hit cinemas worldwide on October 16, 2026. The film was earlier scheduled for September 11, making the latest announcement an important change to its theatrical plans. The poster once again showcases Vijay’s rugged transformation and reinforces the film’s grand period-action setting. The project has already generated considerable buzz through its glimpses, particularly for its scale, visuals and Vijay’s intense look.
Vijay’s Big Comeback Attempt
Ranabaali arrives at a crucial point in Vijay Deverakonda’s career. Following the phenomenal success of Arjun Reddy and Geetha Govindam, the actor has endured a string of commercial disappointments, including Liger, Kushi, The Family Star and most recently Kingdom, which underperformed despite generating considerable expectations. Ranabaali also carries the added excitement of being Vijay and Rashmika’s third film together after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, and their first on-screen collaboration following their marriage earlier this year. With Vijay looking for a much-needed career revival and Rashmika entering the film after their wedding, the Rahul Sankrityan directorial has all the ingredients to become a major comeback vehicle.
