Thudarum 3 weeks Box office: Solid run continues

Thudarum starring Mohanlal became a sensational blockbuster. The film rocked the box office from the opening day and never slowed down. The film also grossed more than 100 crores from Kerala alone, establishing a maiden record. In the overseas market, Thudarum collected $10.5 million, which is also the second biggest for Mollywood.

Thudarum has collected nearly 213 crores gross worldwide, making it the third highest grossing film for Mollywood after L2: Empuraan and Manjummel Boys. The film is also expected to gross more than 230 crores gross in the full run and if a solid weekend helps, it may also cross Manjummel Boys’ record of 240 crores.

However, Mohanlal’s recent biggies, L2: Empuraan continues to be the highest grosser of Mollywood. The film grossed more than 265 crores worldwide, showcasing the stardom of Mohanlal. With Thudarum, he became the only Actor from Mollywood to have two 200 crores grossers worldwide.

Analysis:

Prem Anand directs DD Next Level (Devils Double Next Level), a comedy-horror spoof starring Santhanam as a YouTube reviewer. The core idea combines satire with a film-within-a-film format.The film cleverly references other movies and songs, with some being quite effective. While self-awareness is pleasant, DD Next Level loses momentum as it continues. The beginning sequences are promising, and the rest of the first half is acceptable. But, the latter part feels exhausting because of repetitive and crude jokes, as only some scenes and the climax deliver.
