Kantara Chapter 1 Crosses 500 Cr Worldwide

0

Kantara Chapter 1 joins the mighty 500 Cr Club on its 9th day at the box office. The 9th day, which is Friday, gives good momentum for the film on night shows and indicates a promising weekend.

Another good thing for the film is that the 9th-day collections are slightly higher than the 8th-day collections. The spiritual drama made by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1, also becomes the 2nd Kannada film to join the 500 Cr club after KGF2.

If we look into the overall figures, the prequel of Kantara is the 4th film this year to join the 500 Cr club after Chhaava, Saiyaara, and Coolie.

By tomorrow the film will surpass Coolie’s final collections, and by Sunday it is likely to cross Saiyaraa’s full run collections and will settle at the top 2.

To reach the top 1 position, the film needs a solid box office run, as Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava has collected 800 Cr gross worldwide, and we must wait to know whether Rishab Shetty’s film can go there.

Kannada star hero Kiccha Sudeep recently took a playful dig at SIIMA (South Indian International Movie Awards) on X (formerly Twitter), after they posted a tweet claiming that he and actor Upendra were frontrunners to play the villain in Simbu and Vetrimaaran’s upcoming film Asaran

Sudeep responded with sarcasm, saying, “Huge respect for what you do with your awards evenings,” but added a cheeky suggestion: “Whisper: change your sources.”

He didn’t stop there. Sudeep further joked, asking if SIIMA was planning to introduce a “Best Fake News Award” at their next event. His witty reply quickly caught attention online, with fans appreciating his humorous way of addressing false reports.

The tweet sparked conversations about how media outlets and award platforms should verify news before sharing it publicly. SIIMA soon deleted its post after the Eega actor’s response.

Meanwhile, Sudeep is all set to enthrall his fans with his upcoming film, Mark, slated for a Christmas 2025 release, directed by Vijay Kartikeyaa, who also helmed the actor’s last movie, Max, which was released in December 2024.

Mark will face tough competition as it will clash with 45, starring Shivarajkumar, Upendra, and Raj B. Shetty, and follow closely after Darshan’s The Devil. The Christmas season is set for a massive showdown at the Kannada box office.

Sasivadane Movie Review: A Thoughtful Yet Overstretched Love Story

0

Movie Name: Sasivadane
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast:
Rakshit Atluri, Komalee Prasad, Sriman, Deepak Prince, and others
Director: Saimohan Ubbana
Produced By:
 Ahiteja Bellamkonda
Release Date: 10th October 2025

Starring Rakshit Atluri and Komalee Prasad in the lead roles, Sasivadane is the latest love story set against the backdrop of Konaseema. The film’s poster and promos have generated a good amount of interest among audiences. Let us find out what’s the film has in store in our review.

Story:

Sasivadane is set in the early 2000s in a village in the Godavari region. The story follows Raghava (Rakshit Atluri), a cheerful young graduate who lives with his father and best friend. His life takes a turn when he falls in love at first sight with Sasi (Komalee Prasad). She soon returns his feelings, and their love blossoms. However, their happiness is short-lived as Sasi’s brother-in-law (Deepak Prince), who has bad intentions and wants to marry her by force, becomes a major obstacle. The rest of the film shows how Raghava and Sasi fight against these challenges and whether their love survives.

Performances:

Rakshit Atluri delivers a decent performance, especially in emotional scenes. Komalee Prasad stands out with her screen presence and acting. Deepak Prince plays the villain well, though his character lacks depth. Sriman is adequate as Raghava’s father, the actor who appears as the hero’s friend and Jabardasth Bobby try to bring humor, though the comedy does not add much to the story. The supporting cast performs reasonably.

Analysis:

Director Saimohan Ubbana presents a routine love story and attempts to add intensity with a couple of twists in the second half. The first half begins in the present and shifts to a flashback, but the romantic track feels predictable. The visuals and music help the film a bit and try to contribute to the mood.

While the second half has some emotional moments and father-son sentiment, the overall narrative lacks energy and fails to keep viewers fully engaged. The villain’s character is not convincingly threatening, and the emotional climax does not land as strongly as intended.

Positives:

  • Lead Pair’s Performance
  • Music/Visuals
  • A Few Crucial Dialogues/Emotional Scenes

Negatives:

  • Dragged Feel
  • Predictable Scenes
  • Lack of Strong Emotional Impact

Sasivadane Movie Review and Verdict:

Despite good performances from the lead pair and suitable songs/visuals, Sasivadane remains a regular love story that tries to be deep but does not quite succeed in its attempt.

Mirai Soars, Yet Hanuman Remains Teja Sajja’s Top Grosser

0

Teja Sajja’s Mirai is a massive blockbuster with more than 140 Cr gross collections at the box office, but still HanuMan, the 2024 Sankranthi blockbuster remains as the biggest grosser for the actor.

Directed by Karthik Gattamneni, Mirai, the action adventure, became the biggest blockbuster ever in medium-budget films, and it also takes Teja Sajja’s market and stardom to the next level.

But as said above, still HanuMan stands as the biggest grosser for Teja Sajja, as it had one kind of phenomenal run and collected on par with Tier-1 stars collections.

Hanu-Man’s worldwide gross is around 300 Cr, while Mirai did half of that, but even doing half of such a big number is too a huge achievement, as Hanu-Man benefited from many factors, whereas Mirai banked mostly on Teja Sajja’s stardom.

Now we need to wait and see when Teja Sajja breaks his own benchmark of HanuMan’s closing. His next film, Zombie Reddy 2, is also a crazy and huge-scale film, which is currently in the pre-production phase.

0

Dil Raju bought the Nizam rights of Pawan Kalyan’s OG. Though the film didn’t live up to the pre-release expectations, Dil Raju is safe with OG in Nizam.

Nizan rights of the film are said to be 55 Cr, including GST. For 55 Cr, the film is yet to achieve the breakeven, but according to close circles at the distribution office, the OG Nizam deal is said to be a safe venture for Dil Raju.

Pawan Kalyan’s OG: A Safe Venture For Dil Raju

It seems that there were certain recovery terms during the deal, under which Dil Raju has achieved breakeven. The film has collected closer to 50 Cr share until now, including GST.

Alongside Raju, many expected “They Call Him OG” to be a big jackpot deal and give massive profits as the film was released with tremendous craze and ticket prices.

But the film did not achieve the profits and just became a safe venture. The movie has worked massively for fans, but it did not cater unanimously for family audiences.

If the Sujeeth directorial had balanced both, it could have easily done 75 Cr+ share, which was Dil Raju’s expected number before the release.

0

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 collected around 27 – 28 Cr gross at the box office on the 8th day, which takes the worldwide total to 475 Cr. The spiritual action drama has shown a superb consistency so far.

The film is likely to hit 500 Cr gross collections today, making it the 2nd 500 Cr film from the Kannada Film Industry after KGF Chapter 2, and the interesting thing is both are franchise films.

With 475 cr gross worldwide for 8 days, Kantara Chapter 1 requires a solid 2nd weekend at the box office, and it requires to aim for a 100 cr+ weekend. The film needs target the 600 Cr mark by the 2nd weekend.

To reach 2025’s biggest grosser milestone, the film needs to collect 800 Cr gross worldwide and beat Chhaava. For that, the film requires a major jump in box office collections this weekend.
