Akhanda 2 Faces Massive Target: Film Must Hit 200 Cr for Break-Even

0

The much-awaited sequel, Akhanda 2, has registered a never-before business for Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu, and the film must hit 200 Cr to achieve break-even at the worldwide box office.

Here’s the pre-release business breakdown for Akhanda 2 (Telugu)

  • Nizam – ₹27 crore
  • Ceeded – ₹24 crore
  • Uttarandhra – ₹13.50 crore
  • Guntur – ₹9.50 crore
  • East Godavari – ₹8.25 crore
  • Krishna – ₹7 crore
  • West Godavari – ₹6.50 crore
  • Nellore – ₹4.40 crore
  • Rest of India – ₹8 crore
  • Overseas – ₹15 crore

The Telugu version’s theatrical rights are valued at 123 Cr, and as said above, to achieve breakeven, Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 needs to collect 200 Cr gross worldwide. Until now, Balakrishna did not even achieve a 150 Cr gross figure, but this crazy sequel needs to join the 200 Cr club for the hit status.

This target is definitely achievable. If we look at the first part, it collected 130 Cr gross with the lowest ticket prices amidst the COVID wave. So, if the sequel opens with the same WOM, with the current ticket prices, it can easily do 50% better than the first part.

Also, the Akhanda sequel’s Karnataka all-language rights are sold for ₹7.5 Cr, and Tamil Nadu all-language rights are sold for ₹2.75 Cr. If the film does not get the expected momentum from other languages, then the Telugu version alone needs to earn a ₹10 Cr share in these two territories.

12A Railway Colony Movie Review: Very Disappointing Thriller

0

Movie Name: 12A Railway Colony
Rating: 2/5
Cast:
Allari Naresh, Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Sai Kumar, and others
Director: Nani Kasaragadda
Produced By:
Srinivasa Chitturi
Release Date: 21st November 2025

Starring Allari Naresh, 12A Railway Colony is a suspense thriller that promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. The film, directed by Nani Kasaragadda, who makes his debut as a director. Let us see what the film has in store for us in the following review.

Story:

In Warangal, Karthik (Allari Naresh) and his friends work for a local politician named Tillu (Jeevan Kumar). Karthik tries to impress his neighbor Aaradhana (Kamakshi Bhaskarla), even though she shows no interest in him. When he decides to lend her money to win her heart, he unexpectedly learns a shocking secret about her past. From then on, the film reveals Aaradhana’s story while Karthik’s search uncovers more hidden truths.

Performances:

Allari Naresh is not convincing in this role. His character is not well written, and fails to create emotional connection with the audience. Dr. Kamakshi Bhaskarla is fine, while Sai Kumar ends up with a pointless and silly role. Viva Harsha, Jeevan Kumar, Getup Srinu, and Anish Kuruvilla are okay. Abhirami delivers a strong performance in a small but important role.

Analysis:

Directed by Nani Kasaragadda, 12A Railway Colony is a suspense thriller. The beginning feels weak and directionless. The romantic scenes between Naresh and Kamakshi are average, and a few comedy bits between Naresh and his friends are decent.

The film becomes interesting around the interval with a well-timed twist. The second half starts well but slowly loses grip. Sai Kumar makes a strong entry as the investigation officer, but strangely, it is Allari Naresh’s character, a local rowdy, ends up doing all the detective work.

The story eventually relies on just a couple of twists. The pre-climax works well, but the climax again falls flat.

Positives:

  • Interval Twist
  • Initial Parts of the Second and
  • Pre-Climax

Negatives:

  • Inconsistent Narration
  • Silly Twists/Scenes
  • Logicless Scenes
  • Climax

12A Railway Colony Review and Verdict:

12A Railway Colony is a dull and weak suspense thriller with only a few good moments. It lacks direction for most of the film and ends up being very disappointing.

Premante Movie Review: Loses The Grip Halfway

0

Movie Name: Premante
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast:
Priyadarshi, Aanandhi, Suma Kanakala, and others
Director: Navaneeth Sriram
Produced By:
Puskur Ram Mohan Rao and Jhanvi Narang
Release Date: 21st November 2025

After facing a big disaster with Mithra Mandali, Priyadarshi comes up with Premante, a romantic comedy that deals with love and marriage. Directed by debutant Navaneeth Sriram, the film stars Anandhi as the female lead, alongside Suma Kanakala in a key role.

Story:

Madhusudhana Rao (Priyadarshi) and Ramya (Anandhi) fall in love and get married, enjoying three happy months together. But a shocking truth about her husband turns Ramya’s world upside down. Though she gives him one last chance, an unexpected incident leads her to support her husband in his criminal activities. The rest of the film shows how this decision changes their lives and the challenges they face because of it.

Performances:

Priyadarshi performs his role well and tries to bring life to the character, but his part does not feel special or impactful. Anandhi carries most of the film on her shoulders and shines in some scenes, but she could have delivered even more if the writing was stronger. Suma Kanakala appears in a lengthy role, yet her character is not particularly impressive. Suma and Vennela Kishore provide some laughs, and Ram Prasad and Hyper Aadhi add a few funny moments too.

Analysis:

Debut director Navaneeth Sriram chooses a regular romantic comedy storyline and adds an interesting crime angle. The first half moves smoothly with a good balance of romance and comedy. The pre-interval twist is handled well and builds good curiosity for the second half.

However, the second half fails to hold interest as the narration becomes slow and filled with dull scenes. The emotional depth between the lead pair is not conveyed properly, and the side track involving the lady constable feels weak and underdeveloped. The climax also feels too convenient and lacks strong impact.

Positives:

  • Priyadarshi – Anandhi Pair/Acting
  • First Half
  • Interesting Crime Angle

Negatives:

  • Weak Seecond Half
  • Lead Pair’s Emotions Fall Flat
  • Ineffective Climax

Premante Review and Verdict:

Overall, Premante impresses in the first half with neat execution, and Priyadarshi and Anandhi enhance a few scenes with their performances. But after the interval, the film loses momentum, and the writing in the second half, especially the climax, is disappointing.

Netflix’s New Strategy Shakes Industry

0

During the Covid era, OTT platforms began buying films at record prices to attract viewers, and producers were thrilled as movies achieved the fastest recoveries ever. However, the industry soon started feeling the after effects , skyrocketing remunerations, inflated budgets, and the decline of satellite and theatrical markets. At the same time, OTT platforms also witnessed huge losses. They were paying massive amounts for films that failed at the box office and did not deliver the high viewership they expected on streaming.

Because of this, OTT platforms have tightened their buying strategies. They are adding multiple conditions while acquiring films and shifting focus toward creating their own original content. In a major move, OTT giant Netflix has reportedly decided to change its approach. Everyone knows Netflix recently opened a large office in Hyderabad, and the main objective behind this expansion is said to be a shift from buying films at record prices to producing more web series and original content locally.

This decision will definitely impact producers, especially those handling big films, as Netflix has been one of the biggest revenue sources for OTT deals. Other platforms are also following similar strategies. With this shift, the industry is once again moving back to a point where theatrical markets become the primary source of recovery

In the current scenario, only strong content can help producers. Depending solely on calculations, hype, or packaging is no longer enough, delivering genuinely good cinema is the only sustainable solution.

Raju Weds Rambai Movie Review: An Honest And Hard-Hitting Love Story

0

Movie Name: Raju Weds Rambai
Rating: 2.75/5
Cast:
Akhil Raj Uddemari, Tejaswini Rao, Chaitanya Jonnalagadda, Shivaji Raja, and others
Director: Saailu Kaampati
Produced By:
 Venu Udugula and Rahul Mopidevi
Release Date: 21st November 2025

Based on a real-life love story incident from fifteen years ago, “Raju Weds Rambai” is a rooted village love story, directed by Saailu Kaampati. The film has generated significant buzz among audiences with its impressive trailer, and let’s determine if it meets expectations in our review.

Story:

The film follows the love story of Raju and Rambai, who face many hardships to make their relationship successful and discover what fate has planned for them.

Performances:

Akhil Uddemari and Tejaswi Rao play the lead roles. As a newcomer, Akhil performs very well and shows impressive talent. Tejaswi Rao brings honesty and natural emotion to her character. Chaitu Jonnalagadda fits his role and delivers some strong moments, but his character could have had more depth. Shivaji Raja and Anitha Chowdary, who play the hero’s parents, also make a solid impact.

Analysis:

Written and directed by Saailu Kaampati, Raju Weds Rambai is set in a village and immediately creates an authentic atmosphere. The first half feels predictable, but the chemistry between the leads keeps it engaging. The interval episode is not surprising, but it still works emotionally.

As expected, the second half becomes more emotional, but the love story lacks fresh twists or strong moments, making it easy for viewers to predict the journey. Their struggles could have been shown with more intensity. For example, the scene where the heroine decides to get pregnant is powerful in writing, but the emotional weight doesn’t fully translate on screen.

The heroine’s father could have been portrayed more strongly to increase the tension, but he gets impactful moments only occasionally.

However, the film gains strength as it moves toward the climax. The ending, which presents real events along with actual press cuttings, leaves a lasting impression.

Positives:

  • Performances
  • Emotional Scenes/Dialogues
  • Music
  • Hard Hitting Climax

Negatives:

  • Predictabl Scenes
  • Weak Handling of Heroine’s Father haracter
  • Few Dull Moments

Raju Weds Rambai Review and Verdict:

Overall, Raju Weds Rambai offers a decent love story with convincing performances, some engaging moments, and a striking climax. While the film suffers from a familiar tone and some weak scenes in the second half, the unexpected ending makes a strong impact.

Jana Nayagan Telugu Version: Producers Take the Risk

0

Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, produced by KVN Productions, has been announced for a 9th January, 2026 release, and the film’s Telugu version business has been completed with a risk.

If we look at the recent form of Vijay, his films have consistently delivered notable numbers in the Telugu states. But Jana Nayagan is different from them because the buzz is that it is a remake of the Telugu superhit Bhagavanth Kesari.

If it is a remake of a Telugu film, audiences may not show much interest in watching it. Another reason is that the film is arriving on Sankranti, the season in which Telugu films are already packed with many releases.

Jana Nayagan Telugu States: Not So Encouraging Trend or Buzz

So, finding theaters for Jana Nayagan will be very tough, and the distributors cannot buy the Telugu version on an outright basis, as it carries a big risk.

Still, the producers are set to take the risk and releasing the film by just taking an advance from the Telugu distributor, and the total advance is refundable.

There was a buzz that a prominent producer is releasing Jana Nayagan film in Telugu states by paying 9 Cr in advance.

The advantage with Jana Nayagan is the film’s production house is KVN Productions, which is also making Yash’s Toxic. So, Jana Nayagan’s distributor is likely to release Toxic in Telugu as well, and if there is any risk in advance, that can be adjusted immediately in Toxic’s deal.

The Raja Saab Uttarandhra Rights Closed

0

Prabhas fans are eagerly waiting for the first single of The Raja Saab, and despite some unofficial reports, the makers still have not announced anything officially. But the business of the film is going strong, and the latest news is that Raja Saab’s Uttarandhra business has been closed.

Uttarandhra is the biggest territory in Coastal Andhra, as it covers more than 1/4th of business and collections. The Raja Saab, which was scheduled for release on 9th January, has sold its rights for the Uttarandhra region for a very big price despite the Sankranthi Competition.

The rights are bought by Poorvi Pictures for 19 Cr, including GST. At this rate Coastal Andhra (6 Territories) ratio will be around 75 Cr for this horror comedy.

The Raja Saab team is gearing up for promotions from this weekend as per buzz, and an update regarding the film’s first song will be out this weekend. The team is 100% sure it will be released on January 9th as planned and has informed distributors that there is no chance of postponement.

Akhanda 2 Nizam Deal Still Hanging

0

There are just 2 weeks left for Akhanda 2’s theatrical release, and while all other areas’ business for the Balakrishna starrer has been closed for record prices, the Nizam area is said to be still open.

Reportedly, the makers are quoting 30 Cr, but the offers are said to be not matching their expectations, and that is the reason they are not convinced to give the rights at a lower price.

It is being said that multiple distributors have tried their luck to get the Akhanda 2 Nizam rights, but due to the unsuccessful negotiations, they had to take a back step. Dil Raju is said to be in final discussions to buy this biggie’s rights, and we need to see whether the negotiations with him will go well or the makers choose the film on their own.

Compared to other areas, Nizam is a weaker territory for both Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu, which might explain why distributors are hesitant to pay 30 Cr.
