Another massive feat by Uppena

Vaishnav Tej and Kirthi Shetty starrer Uppena emerged as a sleeper hit of the year and established many records during its run. The movie emerged as the highest grosser for a Tollywood debut hero and also brought many accolades for director Bucchi Babu Sana.

The movie continued its victorious run during its Television premiere and recorded a TRP rating of 18.51 during its first telecast. Now, the movie has achieved another massive record and recorded a TRP rating of 11.37 during its second telecast which is a massive rating in itself.

Mythri Movie Makers bankrolled this project and Devi Sri Prasad scored its music which was also a smashing success. Both Vaishav Tej and Kirthi Shetty along with director Buchi Babu Sana shot to fame after the success of Uppenna.

The actors are flooded with offers and are taking their time to finalize new projects. While Vaishnav will be next seen in an untitled Krish movie, Kirthy will be next seen in Nani starrer Shyam Singha Roy.

Suresh Babu forays into music industry with SP Music

Suresh Babu, one of the biggest producers in Tollywood and head of Suresh Productions has decided to enter into the music industry. Suresh Productions is one of the most well-known names in the industry with a rich history of more than 50 years.

The production giant posted the update on its twitter handle with the following caption.

“Carrying forward the legacy of cinema for over 50 years, Suresh Productions is pleased to launch the music label, Suresh Productions Music. SP Music aims to serve as a platform to produce refined music, and become an undaunted musical powerhouse.”

The production house will now directly produce music both for movies as well as independent artists. Of late Suresh Productions has produced many smaller and content driven films. It needs to be seen if SP Music carries the legacy forward.

Chiranjeevi looking to resolve the issue

While the theatres are opening up after the pandemic, the producers and exhibitors still have another challenge- the ticket prices. In the month of April, the Andhra Pradesh government issued orders which put a slab on the ticket rates as per the theatre’s locations. Tollywood producers have expressed serious concerns over this G.O. Now, as per reports Megastar Chiranjeevi is planning to take up the matter directly with AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy.

This year, Tollywood is going to witness a number of big-ticket films, and producers and distributors are really counting on them to pull them out of the lean patch brought in by lockdown. However, If this situation continues to prevail, a number of Tollywood biggies will have to struggle really hard to recover their investment with the government-established ticket prices.

The recent positive Twitter interaction between Chiranjeevi and Jaganmohan Reddy over vaccination drive in the state has led to strong buzz over the two meeting. According to the reports, Chiranjeevi will meet the AP CM in July 1st week or the second week over the ticket prices.

It will be interesting to see how the Chief Minister reacts considering he recently asked his ministers and aides that no discussion on this issue will be entertained.

Can Rajamouli do it this time?

After a long delay, the shooting of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR has finally resumed. The entire cast and crew are raring to go only floors to complete the remaining portion. Jr NTR and Ram Charan will shoot for some key action scenes during this schedule

The two stars along with the entire cast and crew of RRR are presently completely looking to finish up their portions. Alia Bhat will be joining the unit next week. Rajamouli is looking to finish up the shoot at the earliest and is looking for a date towards July end or August 1st week.

It will be interesting to see if Rajamouli is able to wrap up the shoot in given time. The film has already seen huge delays so far. In the current scenario, finishing the schedule which with multiple action sequences and songs in a little over a month will indeed be challenging.

DVV Danayya is backing this multi starrer project under his banner DVV Entertainments. MM Keeravani will be composing music for this period action drama

Two biggies gearing up for Vinayaka Chavithi release

With theatres opening up slowly after the pandemic, filmmakers are hurrying up with the decision on new release dates. The Summer season which usually sees a number of biggies releasing had a quite time this year. Now the makers have set their eyes on the Vinayak Chavithi release.

It was earlier reported that Rocking Star Yash’s much-awaited KGF: Chapter 2 is scheduled for a Vinayaka Chavithi release on September 9th. The action thriller was earlier scheduled for a July release but now will be pushed by 2 months. The film stars Sanjay Dutt, Prakash Raj, Rao Ramesh and Raveena Tandon in key roles.

Now we hear that Balakrishna’s much-awaited action drama Akhanda will also go for the auspicious Vinayaka Chavithi release. Akhanda was earlier scheduled to release on May 28th. However, pandemic played the spoilsport and will now release on September 10th.

With both out and out mass action films slotted for a Vinayaka Chavithi release, the festive season has just got even more exciting.

KGF: Chapter 2 new release date

Looks like Rocking Star Yash’s much-awaited action thriller KGF: Chapter 2 has got a new release date. According to the inside reports the makers are looking to release the movie on September 9th. The date seems to be quite a strategical one considering Ganesh Chaturthi and a weekend follows right after the release.

KGF: Chapter 2 has been in making for quite some time and multiple release dates have been pushed. This happened mainly due to the pandemic. However, now with theatres across the country opening up a release date of September 9th might be formally announced soon.

This action thriller, a sequel to the KGF: Chapter 1 stars Sanjay Dutt, Rao Ramesh, Prakash Raj and Raveena Tandon in key roles. Prashanth Neel has directed this pan-India film while Hombale Films are producing it. KGF: Chapter 2 has music scored by Ravi Basrur whose music and BGM played a massive role in the first instalment’s success.

The release date of September 9th is looking to be the strong one as of now. However, depending on the then prevailing conditions, the makers might also go for a Dussehra release.

Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun to resume shoot

Tollywood is finally getting back to normal after the covid second wave. Slowly, yet steadily the films are going back on sets amidst all safety precautions. Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun will also be soon resuming to the sets of their films Sarkaru Vaari Paata and Pushpa respectively.

Reportedly, both Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun will resume shooting from the first week of July. Sarkaru Vaari Paata and Pushpa shootings came to a halt due to Covid earlier this year.

Meanwhile, action choreographers Ram-Laxman in an interview shared some snippets about the Mahesh’s action sequences. During their interaction with media, choreographer duo Ram-Laxman revealed that an action block which was shot in Dubai during the first schedule will be one of the highlights of the film. The duo also added that Mahesh’s mannerisms and characterisation will be completely different.

Payal Rajput to be next seen in a thriller

Payal Rajput has signed a new film opposite Aadi Saikumar. This will be the actress’s first film post-pandemic and will be directed by Veerabhadram. The film will be a thriller and has been titled Kirathaka.

Replying on a query about her latest signing, the Payal Rajput said, “I got a great character to play, plus the script too was intriguing,” Despite always preferring content-driven films, Payal was initially hesitant to sign Kirathaka, owing to her apprehension of the film’s genre (thriller).

“But after I heard the script, I felt it was very entertaining; the edge-of-the-seat screenplay will be the highlight. My layered character and the emotions in the film makes for a great connection,” said the RX100 actress.

Dr Nagam Tirupathi Reddy will bankroll the film under the banner of Vision Cinemaas. The film marks their third production venture in Tollywood.

Producer Suresh Babu duped for Covid vaccine

The ongoing Covid situation has given rise to a number of opportunist frauds cheating people on the pretext of medication, hospital beds, and even oxygen. Tollywood producer Suresh Babu became the latest victims of one of these scams when he found out he was duped for Rs 1 lakh in the name of supplying vaccine by a fraudster.

Suresh Babu was planning to procure vaccine to get his entire staff and a number of cine workers vaccinated as a part of vaccination drive being sponsored by him.

Three weeks ago, an unidentified man called filmmaker Suresh Babu saying he was calling from the Health Department of Telangana State and that he was arranging a vaccination drive for industry folks.

“I wasn’t feeling well then, so I alerted my office guys and asked them to coordinate with that person for the vaccination drive for our employees,” explains Suresh Babu.

After obtaining the vaccine dose and cost details, which came to rupees one lakh, Suresh Babu’s staff went to pay the amount. However, they soon began suspecting something was amiss in the whole picture.

The conman was unreachable once the money was credited to his account. This led to the suspicions and the producer approached the cyber cell department.

“A few days later, the police identified and caught the man, who has apparently been duping people. So the cops called and asked me to lodge a formal complaint at the Jubilee Hills Police Station so that they could initiate appropriate action,” he says.

Meanwhile, the accused has been arrested and booked under IPC section 420 (Cheating).

Jeevitha jumps into fray against Vishnu and Prakash Raj

The Movies Artists Association (MAA) elections took another eventful turn with Jeevitha gearing up to announce her candidacy for the elections. In the 2019 elections, Jeevitha and her husband Rajasekhar won as the secretary and executive president respectively. Rajasekhar though had to quit his post owing to differences with actor Naresh.

Jeevitha, meanwhile is planning to meet industry seniors seeking their support for the elections. It was recently revealed that actor Manchu Vishnu will also be contesting in the elections. The ‘Mosagallu’ actor even met Superstar Krishna recently seeking his support.

Jeevitha will be facing a tough battle from Prakash Raj, who has already made many public announcements confirming his candidature. The three way contest is expected to be intensely fought just like the previous MAA elections.
