Agent shoot to begin soon!

Akhil Akkineni and Surender Reddy’s action-thriller Agent will go on the floors soon. The makers are planning to finish up two quick schedules of this spy thriller in Hyderabad and AP. The movie was announced earlier this year and Akhil’s new rough look has impressed many.

Agent will have some high-octane action sequences and chases. Mohanlal’s role in this film would be central to the film’s plot and will drive it. Surender Reddy’s stylish taking is going to be the major highlight of the movie. Akhil’s role in Agent is reportedly tailor-made to his strengths and the makers are confident of its success.

Akhil, meanwhile is also gearing up for the release of his next film Most Eligible Bachelor opposite Pooja Hegde. The romantic drama is scheduled to release on June 19th and the actor is quite optimistic of success this time around.
Coming to Agent, according to our sources Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will be playing a crucial role in this film.

Anil Sunkara under AK Entertainments will produce the movie and the music will be helmed by SS Thaman. Vakkantham Vamsi who earlier worked with Surender Reddy on films like Kick, Racegurram, etc. will be penning the story for Akhil’s Agent. The movie is scheduled to hit the screens on December 24th.

5 medium budget films to release directly on OTT

The popularity of OTTs is rising day by day with a number of viewers preferring watching movies from the comfort of their homes. Adding to this, the pandemic has left little choice for a number of producers who are choosing streaming platforms over theatres.

Keeping up with this trend 5 medium budget films will be now releasing directly on the streaming platforms. Venkatesh’s two upcoming films Narappa and Drushyam 2 will be released on OTT platforms. Reportedly, these films have been sold for a whopping price. However, there is no official word regarding the same yet. Drushyam 2 is a remake of Mohanlal’s Malayalam crime thriller Drishyam 2 which incidentally also released on Amazon Prime earlier this year.

Apart from this, Venkatesh’s Narappa which is a remake of Dhanush’s Asuran will also be releasing on OTT platform. Adding to Drushyam 2 and Narappa, Suresh Productions has also chosen to go for an OTT release fo Rana Daggubati and Sai Pallavi starrer Virata Parvam.

Meanwhile, the makers of Nithiin’s Maestro and Nikhil’s 18 pages have also decided to let go of a theatrical release this time around. With theatres still not opening everywhere and restrictions on the occupancy, this seems to be a wise decision for the time being.

Zee Network bags the digital and satellite rights of another small budget film

Zee network has bagged the digital and satellite rights of the upcoming romantic drama Ippudu Kaaka Inkeppudu. The film stars Hasvanth Vanga, Namrata Darekar, and Katalyn Gowda in the lead roles. Directed by Y. Yugandhar and produced by Chinta Gopalakrishna, the film is scheduled for a July release.

The movie follows the story of Hasvanth Vanga and Namrata Darekar whose overprotective parents have always tried to keep them away from opposite gender. Tanikella Bharani, Thulasi, Raja Ravindra, pooja Ramchandran, and Anjali are playing supporting roles.

The movie’s teaser has been well received and featured bold romantic scenes between the lead pair. The romantic drama also follows the friends with benefits theme which hasn’t been explored much in Telugu cinema. Ippudu Kaaka Inkeppuduwill premiere on Zee Network soon.

Khiladi final schedule is on in Dubai!

Like a number of other Tollywood films, makers of Ravi Teja’s Khiladi are also planning to kickstart the film’s shoot. The film’s shoot will start from the last week of July and the unit will be traveling to Dubai for the same.

Some crucial action sequences have been planned on Ravi Teja in this key schedule. The action thriller was scheduled to release on May 28th. However, with Covid second wave canceling shoots along with director Ramesh Varma testing positive, the release will now be delayed further.

Meanwhile, there were rumours that the film might go for an OTT release. However, the makers trashed this rumour and stated that Khiladi would release only in theatres whenever the situation relaxes.

Ravi Teja will be seen in a dual role in this action thriller. The movie is produced jointly by Satyanarayana Koneru and Ramesh Varma under the banner of A Studios LLP. It stars Dimple Hayathi, Unni Mukundan, Arjun Sarja and Meenakshi Chaudhary in key roles.

Sarkaru Vaari Paata to get back on sets

After an unanticipated break, Tollywood is finally getting back to business. The shooting of Sarkaru Vaari Paata is set to resume soon. The shooting of this Mahesh Babu starter action thriller will resume either on July 4th or 7th.

The movies shoot had to come to a grinding halt a couple of months ago after the Covid second wave hit the nation. The film’s unit had earlier stated that Sarkaru Vaari Paata would go on floors once the situation normalises. The makers are aiming to complete the present schedule in the coming days and get the movie ready for release by Sankranthi 2022.

Some crucial action scenes have been planned on Mahesh for this schedule. The makers are leaving no expense for the same. Keerthy Suresh will also be a part of this schedule where some scenes will be shot on her.

Sarkaru Vaari Paata will be directed by Parasuram and bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers. SS Thaman is composing the music for this action drama.

Pushpa dubbing rights fetch record price

SS Rajamouli’s RRR is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. With every single update, the expectations are rising on the film and so are theories. Now, a new inside report has been doing rounds that has given a new feel to the movie altogether.

According to a strong buzz, Ajay Devgn will be playing the role of the father of Komaram Bheem played by Jr NTR. While RRR is a fictional account of the fight for independence by Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, certain events and characters have been taken from real life.

In reality, Komaram Bheem’s father was a revolutionary as well. He was killed by the forest officials while asserting Adivasi rights. After the death of his father, Bheem with his family shifted to Sardhapur village. From this point onwards Bheem took up the arms against the Nizams for the rights of the Gond people.

Star Maa bags 9 upcoming Tollywood biggies

Telugu premium entertainment channel Star Maa is readying a blockbuster lineup that is sure to shatter multiple TRP records in the coming days. The channel has reportedly acquired television rights of nearly all the upcoming Tollywood biggies.

Starting with the SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR, the channel also acquired rights for Super Star Mahesh Babu’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata. Additionally romantic entertainers such as Love Story and Most Eligible bachelor are also in the channel’s kitty. Balakrishna’s Akhanda, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa, Maestro, Khiladi and Tuck Jagadish are some of the other films acquired by Star Maa.

Except for Nithiin’s Maestro, all the other films are post-theatrical deals. The channel is expected to announce many more films in the coming days.

Controversy over Vijay’s ‘Beast’

It’s been just a few days since the title announcement of Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film beast and already controversy has arisen. Vijay’s ‘Beast’ is one of the most awaited movies of Kollywood with fans eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of their star.

However, the title of the film seems to have driven the movie into slight controversy. The title ‘Beast’ has not gone well with certain sections and smaller political parties who have questioned the makers decision to go for an English title for the film.

Tamil film fraternity and people, in general, are quite known for their love for their mother tongue. In fact, there have been instances where the government has promoted and supported movies through tax exemptions that promoted language and culture.

In such an industry, Vijay, going for a non-Tamil title ‘Beast’ hasn’t gone down well with some sections. Incidentally, the actor’s last film ‘Master’ was also an English title. Earlier as well to avoid a similar situation Super Star Rajinikanth and Shankar’s movie was released as ‘Robo’ in all other languages but in Tamil, it released as ‘Enthiran’. It needs to be seen if the row grows bigger in the coming days or dies down.
