After NTR, Kalyanram to take us back in time

It’s a commonly known fact that Jr NTR will be portraying Komaram Bheem in SS Rajamouli’s RRR. Now, Kalyanram will also be taking us back to the pre-independence era. The first look of Kalyanram’s forthcoming film Devil was recently released, it left many surprised, as it is a period drama that is set in 1945.

Naveen Medaram is directing Devil based on real-life incidents that happened during 1945. “I had initially wanted to make a detective story. But as I kept working on the script, it had organically developed into a period film,” he said.

“For the first time, Kalyanram plays a badass; he plays an intelligent British secret agent, but for a greater cause. There’s a beautifully woven love story blended with mysterious elements,” added Naveen.

So why did he choose Kalyanram? “He’s a performer and someone who experiments with roles,” responds Naveen. “Moreover, Kalyanram garu naturally fit the costumes of the period drama and carries the look effortlessly. In fact, even he was excited when I narrated the story to him. After our costume trials, we felt vindicated about casting him in the role.”

Vikram first look featuring Kamal, Vijay and Fahadh impresses

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj shared the first-look poster of the upcoming film Vikram earlier today. The poster features actors Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, and Kamal Haasan’s black and white close-up shots. The three actors sport a rugged and intense look in the poster.

Fans were taken by surprise with the first-look poster, as the makers of Vikram had not previously announced that Vijay Sethupathi would be part of the project as well. Both Kollywood and Mollywood fans are excited to watch the three south stars share the screen in Vikram. 

Not much is known about the film’s plot, but judging purely by the poster, the film promises to be a blast. Just seeing these three icons it for sure is going to be a great display of acting talent at the least.

Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music of Vikram, Girish Gangadharan handles the cinematography and Philomin Raj is in charge of editing.

RRR making video to be out soon

SS Rajamouli has been taking extreme care and ensuring the final product of RRR comes out well. While the direction, vision and implementation of Rajamouli is always impeccable, the promotional tactics of the RRR have faced some criticism. The lack of an RRR making video has made things quite dull.

Fans have complained that there is dead air around the move and very low buzz for a movie of this level. Compared to his earlier movie Baahubali, the promotional activities for RRR have been pretty dull. The team has realized that they need to do much more to create a solid buzz around the movie. In order to reach audiences across the world, the makers have decided to ramp up the promotions now.

It looks like the ace director has finally decided to take matters into hands now. He will be releasing a RRR making video pretty soon to kickstart full-fledged updates and promotions. A similar making video during the Baahubali pre-release times took the internet by storm. Rajamouli is looking to repeat the same formula here as well.

The video and the future promotional strategy have been conceptualized by the director and we will soon get a glimpse into the World of RRR pretty soon.

The and the action sequences are going to be the main highlight of the movie and the promotional content will chiefly revolve around these elements.

Mohan Babu registers complaint against trollers

Mohan Babu has been a prominent face in Tollywood for over four decades now. The senior actor has acted in a variety of roles over the years winning many accolades. However, the advent of social media has also brought him and his family members some criticism from the netizens.

While healthy criticism is always welcome, a section of social media users have been using morphed pics along with editing and uploading videos showing the senior actor in a bad light. These videos have made the actor a butt of many obscene and vulgar jokes.

Mohan Babu has decided to take action against these and lodged a cyber complaint with the Hyderabad Cyber Crime department earlier today. The senior actor’s legal representative submitted the videos which were aimed at the Manchu family which used vulgar language against the actor and his kin.

Police have booked a case against these social media handles and pages under sections 504 and 506 of IPC. Further development on this issue is awaited.

Pawan Kalyan the reason behind Nithiin’s next project?

Nithiin has a number of movies lined up this year. The actor already had two releases this year and is coming up with many more. Of these upcoming films, Maestro, and an untitled film with Vakkantham Vamsi are the most notable ones.

Pooja Hegde, who’s one of the busiest actresses across multiple industries has been rumoured to play the female lead in the Vakkantham Vamsi film. Pooja currently has some big-ticket releases in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Now there’s another massive news coming out about this project. Reportedly, Pawan Kalyan was supposed to do this film and due to dates issue he couldn’t commit to it It was Pawan who recommended Nithiin to take his place in this movie. Nithiin and Pawan share a great rapport and Nithiin is a self-confessed hardcore fan of the Power Star.

Nithiin was anyhow supposed to work with Tagore Madhu, who is bankrolling this film. This made the actor’s decision even easier.

Suresh Babu clarifies on Narappa and Drushyam 2 OTT releases

Suresh Babu’s decision to release his upcoming films Narappa, Virata Parvam, and Drushyam 2 on OTTs has met with mixed reactions. Some fans of Venkatesh, who’s the leading man in two of these films made continuous requests to Suresh Babu on social media. They wanted the producer to cancel the OTT releases and go for direct theatrical release.

On the other hand, some fans have even gone to the extent of fasting for a day to gain Suresh Babu’s attention towards cancelling OTT releases.

A recent appeal by the Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce (TSFCC) has made the situation rather interesting. In the view of a number of producers moving towards OTTs, the TSFCC has issued a note requesting the producers to wait. The statement put out has requested the producers to wait till October 2021 and if the situation still doesn’t improve then opt for OTT.

Suresh Babu, meanwhile, has not opened up to this suggestion. Speaking on the. matter, the ace producer said, “Exhibitors have been facing losses and they want films to release in theatres. The producers are facing burdens of their own. So decisions like these are made independently and it must be left to the stakeholders involved. Hope things improve soon.”

Budget revision for Prabhas’s Salaar

Prabhas’s Salaar is one of the most awaited movies of the year. This Prashanth Neel film has raised massive expectations with fans eagerly waiting for more updates from the makers. Salaar which is an action thriller will feature Shruti Haasan for the first time opposite Prabhas.

Due to the massive positive buzz for the movie, Hombale Films have decided to extend the budget of the film. The makers have decided to utilize and market Prabhas’s craze and have decided to increase the budget by about 15-20%.

Prabhas’s Salaar is presently in filming mode and the unit has wrapped up the Godavarikhani schedule. Some high octane action sequences featuring Prabhas were shot here before the pandemic forced the shoot to halt. 

Hombale Films have decided to invest a huge sum of money in making the action sequences grander. Leaving no stones unturned for the project, the makers have also acquired a vintage bike for a crucial sequence of the film. Prabhas’s pics with the vintage bike recently went viral giving further strength to the speculation that the film might be 1970s gangster drama.

Amir Khan welcomes Naga Chaitanya

Naga Chaitanya on Friday took his fans by surprise by sharing a picture with Amir Khan from the sets of Amir Khan’s Lal Singh Chaddha. The movie, which is a remake of 1994 Hollywood classic Forrest Gump will see Amir reprising Tom Hanks role.

Naga Chaitanya joined the shooting of the film earlier this week in Laddakh. Laal Singh Chaddha will mark his Hindi film debut. Vijay Sethupathi was initially signed on to portray the role but walked out due to dates issue.

Aamir Khan also welcomed Naga Chaitanya to the film with a social media post. The Amir Khan Productions handle shared the picture with Naga Chaitanya, Aamir, Kiran Rao, and director Advait Chandan.

“Welcome Bala, stealer of hearts, you have already stolen ours. Love Kiran & Aamir,” was the post made by the production house welcoming the young actor to Bollywood.

Akhil’s Agent Shoot to begin in Hyderabad

Akhil Akkineni and Surender Reddy’s action-thriller Agent will go on the floors from July 12th in Hyderabad. The makers are planning to finish up two quick schedules of this spy thriller in Hyderabad and AP. Akhil’s Agent was announced earlier this year and Akhil’s new rough look has impressed many.

The spy thriller will have some high-octane action sequences and chases. Mohanlal’s role in this film would be central to Akhil’s Agent and will drive it. Surender Reddy’s stylish taking is going to be the major highlight of the movie. Akhil’s role in Agent is reportedly tailor-made to his strengths and the makers are confident of its success.

Akhil, meanwhile is also gearing up for the release of his next film Most Eligible Bachelor opposite Pooja Hegde. The romantic drama is scheduled to release on June 19th and the actor is quite optimistic of success this time around.
Coming to Agent, according to our sources Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will be playing a crucial role in this film.

Anil Sunkara under AK Entertainments will produce the movie and the music will be helmed by SS Thaman. Vakkantham Vamsi who earlier worked with Surender Reddy on films like Kick, Racegurram, etc. will be penning the story for Akhil’s Agent. The movie will hit the screens on December 24th this year.

Tollywood is finally getting busy with shootings and final touches to the films that stopped. The film industry is slowly getting back on feet after the pandemic second wave halted a number of Tollywood releases and shootings of a number of films.

This means August is going to be a busy month with a number of back-to-back Tollywood releases scheduled. Many films have wrapped up their shoot and are waiting to pick a suitable release date. Of all the dates, August 13th seems to be the most in-demand date.

Makers of Tuck Jagadeesh, Most Eligible Bachelor, and Love Story are planning to go for a release on the date. Love Story and Tuck Jagadish were ready for release way back in April before the pandemic spoiled the plans. Akhil and Pooja Hegde starter Most Eligible Bachelor has also been in making for quite some time and now it finally looks like these Tollywood releases will see the light of day.
