Sai Dharam Tej starrer Republic has caught the fancy of movie lovers with its teaser that was released earlier this year. The teaser looked quite good and the movie looks fresh packed with political drama. Adding to this, the presence of Ramya Krishna and Jagapathi Babu in vital roles has further heightened expectations on the movie
The will be an action-packed commentary on the Indian democratic system and how politicians yield supreme power over the civil servants and courts. Ramya Krishna is seen playing the role of a politician while Aishwarya Rajesh plays Sai Dharam Tej’s love interest. Deva Katta, who is known to mix political elements with commercial elements effectively has been working really hard on ‘Republic’. This genre is definitely his strength as proven by ‘Prasthanam’.
The movie was earlier set to release on 4th June however the pandemic spoiled the plans and now the makers are looking to release it on September 3rd. JB Entertainments is bankrolling this political drama and music is scored by Manisharma. It was earlier rumoured that Republic would release on OTT. However, boh Sai Dharam Tej and the makers have stated that the film would release only in movie theatres.

Not going back on ticket rates, says AP government
Looks like the troubles for the Telugu film industry are not going to end soon. With theatres opening and film shootings resuming, it was expected that life will finally get to normal. However, the producers and exhibitors might continue to face issues even with normalcy restored as the AP government is firm on its orders.
Reportedly, AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy has asked his aides to not approach him on the issue of ticket rate slabs that he had earlier imposed.
The Chief Minister is quite firm on this move and reportedly not willing to go back on the price rates. This decision has put the producers and exhibitors in a spot of bother as they will be already operating at 50% occupancy leading to low returns.
While the AP government recently released an order that tweaked the earlier rules of AP Cinema Regulation Rules, 1970, the ticket prices is an area completely in hands of the government. The government, after its due diligence and after verifying producers’ and exhibitors’ requests can change the ticket prices from time to time.
Meanwhile, the government has also declared that the theaters across AP will function only with 50% occupancy. Further decisions on whether to allow full occupancy will be taken only in October.
It’s official! Narappa releasing on 20th July
Venkatesh’s Narappa had to delay its release earlier due to Covid’s second wave. A remake of Dhanush’s 2019 film Asuran, this action thriller was scheduled for a May 14th release. However, now after multiple speculations, the movie has received an official release date. The action drama will now release on July 20th on Amazon Prime
The film also stars Priyamani, Prakash Raj, and Murali Sharma in key roles and follows the story of caste-based discrimination and atrocities on a family. The makers of the film Suresh Productions announced this news on social media.
Incidentally, Suresh Productions’ other remake Drushyam 2 which also stars Venkatesh is also speculated to release on OTT pretty soon.
Suresh Productions recently announced that three of their upcoming films Narappa, Drushyam 2, and Virata Parvam will release on OTT. This decision was taken due to the present pandemic situation. While a number of theatres are opening slowly, the occupancy in them might be an issue hence Suresh Babu took the decision and struck fancy deals for the three films.
Biopic of Dasari Narayana Rao announced
A biopic on ace director Dasari Narayana Rao has been announced. According to reports, Davala Satyam will be directing the Dasari biopic which is titled Darsaka Ratna while Thadivaka Ramesh will be producing it under the Image Films banner.
Tollywood has been experimenting with biopics for the last few years. Movies such as ‘Mahanati’ and NTR Kathanayakudu’ released during this time portraying the life of Savitri and NTR respectively. The trend of biopics has been prevalent in Bollywood for quite some time.
Dasari Narayana Rao has directed more than one hundred and fifty feature films in a career spanning more than four decades. While it is not clear who will be playing the role of the legendary director, it is being rumored that a big known face will be playing the titular role.
Apart from being a visionary director, he was also a terrific actor. His many-fold talents also included directing, producing, screenwriting and songwriting. In an illustrious career, Dasari Narayana Rao directed over 150 films. He’s also a recipient of 3 National Film Awards and 9 Nandi Awards.
The film will go on floors soon and the rest of the cast and crew will be announced in due time.
Nagarjuna all set to make OTT debut
The popularity of OTTs is rising day by day with a number of viewers preferring watching movies from the comfort of their homes. Adding to this, the pandemic has left little choice for a number of producers who are choosing streaming platforms over theatres.
Nagarjuna, who is known for experimenting in his films is now jumping on the OTT bandwagon as well. The actor confirmed in a recent interview that he will be debuting on the OTT soon with a movie.
Nagarjuna, who recently heard the script really liked the concept and thought OTT would be a great platform for the movie. Interestingly, Nagarjuna’s last release Wild Dog was initially supposed to be released digitally. However, due to certain reasons that didn’t work out.
The movie is still in its developmental stages and not much can be revealed as of now, said the senior hero.
Aakasam Nee Haddura to be made in Hindi
Suriya starrer Soorarai Pottru (Aakasham Nee Haddura) after winning the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada audience is all set to make its way to Bollywood.
The biographical drama will be remade in Hindi with Sudha Kongara helming the direction in Hindi as well. An official announcement on the remake was made by Suriya who shared the picture marking the occasion.
Soorarai Pottru (Aakasham Nee Haddura) remake will be bankrolled by Abundantia Entertainments. Suriya’s production house 2D Entertainments will be co-producing this Bollywood project.
This movie is based on the life story of Captain Gopinath who founded Air Deccan. the movie follows a slightly fictitious account of the former air force officer. While it is unclear as to who will replicate Suriya’s role in the Bollywood remake, the production house Abundantia Entertainments stated that the details will be announced soon.
Vakeel Saab to premiere on Television on this date
Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s Vakeel Saab is all set to have its world television premiere soon. The courthouse drama that won Pawan Kalyan many accolades will have its premiere on Zee Telugu on 18th July at 6 PM. Zee which has the satellite rights of this Venu Sriram directorial announced the big news on social media.
“The hype is real. He is coming. Brace for the impact. World Television Premiere of Vakeel Saab on July 18, Sunday at 6 pm on Zee Telugu,” said the post on social media.

‘Roar of RRR’, the RRR making video to be out on July 15th
SS Rajamouli has been taking extreme care and ensuring the final product of RRR comes out well. While the direction, vision and implementation of Rajamouli is always impeccable, the promotional tactics of the RRR have faced some criticism. The lack of an RRR making video has made things quite dull. However, in terrific news to the movie lovers, the makers of the movie have announced that a making video titled Roar of RRR will be released.
The making video will release on 15th July at 11 AM. It is also be said that this Roar of RRR video will be played at select few theatres in AP and Telangana. This would mark the first instance where the making video of a film has premiered in theatres.

Akkineni Akhil is gearing up for his next release Agent under Surender Reddy’s direction. The film will be a spy thriller and will feature the young actor in an action-packed character. In order to fit the bill of the character, Akhil has been working hard at the gym putting on a muscular look.

Lakshmi Manchu is set to host the show ‘Aha Bhojanambu’ a cooking reality series that will feature some of Tollywood’s biggest names. The show will stream on the OTT platform Aha. This will be another celebrity reality show on the streaming platform after ‘Sam Jam’ (hosted by Samantha Akkineni), and Rana’s ‘No.1 Yaari’.
