Venkatesh Maha announces another interesting project

Young director Venkatesh Maha has risen to the ranks in Tollywood in a very short span of time. Post the success and acclaim of C/O Kancherapalem, he went on to direct Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya. Both these films made him one of the most dependable concept-driven directors.

Venkatesh Maha has now announced another exciting project. Titled ‘Ambajipeta Marriage Band’, Venkatesh will be presenting the film while debutant Dushyant will direct the project. Young actor Suhas who impressed with his debut in ‘Colour Photo’ will be the lead in the film. The film will be bankrolled by Sweccha Creations in association with GA2 Arts.

Samantha signs another bilingual

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is immersing herself in work. The actress seems to be busy listening to scripts and locking the deals. A couple of days ago, reports surfaced stating that the Majili actress signed her first Bollywood film. While the announcement is awaited, Sam has now signed a film with Dream Warrior Picture’s bilingual film.

Currently called Production 30, the film will be directed by debutante director Shantharuban Gnanasekaran. Sam’s film will release in both Telugu and Tamil language. The makers announced the project on social media.

It is reported that SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu will be producing the film. Other cast and crew will be revealed soon. Samantha will start shooting for this movie soon, as the makers are making necessary arrangements for the film to get on the sets.

Roshan and Sre Leela starrer Pelli SandaD has got all the possible support from the industry. Megastar Chiranjeevi and Victory Venkatesh graced the pre-release function. Superstar Mahesh Babu launched the trailer and King Nagarjuna launched the teaser. The movie got great hype and promotions owing to the big names associated with it. But, does the movie have enough to actually translate the hype to box-office numbers? Let’s find out

Story: Vashishta (Roshan) is a happy-go-lucky pro-basketball player. Sahasra (Sree Leela) is your typical bubbly teenager as is the case with a number of actresses across films. The couple meets at a wedding and fall in love. Predicatably, Sahasra’s father doesn’t approve of the alliance. What happens next is a tedious and cliched set of scenes capturing Vashishta’s efforts to win his love

Performance: Just in his second film, Roshan looks shaky and amateurish in front of the camera. The dialogue delivery is robotic and the emotions conveyed are not natural. While the youngster is good in dancing skills, he still has a long way to go in terms of being a performer. Sri Leela doesn’t have much scope for performance and just has one job of staying glamorous on-screen which she does decently enough. The rest of the giant cast also has no real scope for performance apart from creating the ‘sandadi’.

Analysis: The movie packs a series of cliches throughout. Hero liking heroine and her father not approving is an age-old trope. So is filling the screen with character artists and featuring scenes after scenes which do not help in the movie’s progress at all. The movie looks and feels straight out of 80s or 90s and doesn’t provide us with anything new at all. The logic is something makers are least concerned about and you would keep waiting for the story to turn as trendy as the title has been made to look.

Verdict: Pelli SandaD is nothing but a 2 and half-hour long tribute to director K Raghavendra Rao. He makes his acting debut and that probably is the biggest USP of the film. Roshan has the raw material to be the mainstream hero but he has to be careful with the script choice. Stay clear of this and maybe catch it on OTT if you’re a fan of the Raghavendra Rao genre.

Seetimaarr released digitally on Disney+Hotsar

Gopichand and Tamannah starrer Seetimaarr has now been released digitally and is streaming on Disney+Hotstar. Directed by Sampath Nandi, Seetimaarr was one of the many delayed films from Tollywood and finally hit the screens on September 10th.The film received decent reviews and performed well at the box-office

Sampath Nandi has teamed up with Gopichand for the second time in his career after 2017 hit Goutham Nanda. The film also saw the combination go Sampath Nandi and Tamannah returning. The two have earlier worked in Racha and Bengal Tiger.

Gopichand and Tammannah, both play Kabaddi coaches in the film representing Andhra and Telangana respectively. Srinivasaa Chitturi has produced the sports action drama under Srinivasaa Silver Screen.

Most Eligible Bachelor is not just a massive test for Akhil Akkineni, but also director Bhaskar who is returning to direction after 8 long years. The film has created decent buzz with the promos and lyricals getting positive feedback. Gopi Sundar’s peppy tunes and a number of special cameos have evoked enough curiosity and the film’s advance bookings show that. Does the film has enough to sustain itself over the festive weekend? lets find out.

Story: Harsha (Akhil) is a calculated and smart young professional who follows every stage in life methodically. Owing to his orthodox environment, he has some pre-conceived notions about marriage. He comes to India for a period of 20 days where his plan is to get married. Here he meets Vibha (Pooja Hegde) who has a contrasting approach to life. How he woos her and what he learns over the course of time forms the story.

Performance: Akhil’s performance can be divided into two halves. While the first half is quite breezy and fun-filled, he does a decent job and is not challenged as an actor. It’s in the second half that he has to deliver heavy scenes and emotions where his weakness is quite visible. While this is one of his better performances, there’s still a lot to improve. Pooja Hegde for a change has a meaty role and gets enough screentime. Unlike other films, she is not here for glamour but for actually driving the story ahead. Despite a well-written role, her acting weakness is also exposed and she looks out of sorts in a lot of places. Murali Sharma and Pragathi have got great moments and excel in their parts delivering solid fun as well as emotions. The rest of the supporting cast of Vennela Kishore, Sudheer, Posani Krishna Murali do a decent job.

Analysis: Most Eligible Bachelor is a story that we have seen a number of times on screen. A guy meets a girl and his vision of life changing after is a cliched trope having done to death. What works in this film is the fun first half and solidly written pre-climax and climax. While there are a lot of silly scenes in the film which defy logic, Most Eligible Bachelor is clear about its path from the beginning. It’s not a serious and preachy film but fun and emotion-filled story. Better writing and crisp editing could have helped the film big time. The film’s music by Gopi Sundar is another plus point helping the overall experience.

Verdict: While Most Eligible Bachelor is not exactly old wine in a new bottle, it would still remind you of some films like Mr. Majnu, Shaadi Mubarak, etc. The similarity in the plot along with Akhil’s looks in the film give you a constant deja vu. Despite these challenges, Bhaskar has succeeded in delivering a breezy film and if only the writing was crispier, the festive release would have got more fun to watch.

‘Not coming this year’, Akhil clarifies on Agent release

Akhil Akkineni’s Most Eligible Bachelor has hit the screens today. The actor has been quite busy for the past month promoting the romantic drama along with shooting for his next- ‘Agent’.

Speaking about Agent, Akhil clarified that the spy action thriller won’t be releasing this year as there are already many movies in the fray. “There are many pending films up to Summer next year. We will have to see and book a correct slot,” he said.

The spy thriller will have some high-octane action sequences and chases. Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal is playing a vital role in this film. Mohanlal’s role in this film would be central to Akhil’s Agent and will drive it. Surender Reddy’s stylish taking is going to be the major highlight of the movie. Akhil’s role in Agent is reportedly tailor-made to his strengths and the makers are confident of its success.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe titled ‘Peddanna’ in Telugu

Superstar Rajinikanth is coming up with a high intense action drama titled Annaatthe in Tamil. Tollywood’s leading distribution house- Asian Infra Estates LLP has obtained Telugu and Tamil rights of the movie for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Narayandas Narang and Suresh Babu are bringing the film to Telugu and Tamil audiences in Telugu states.

The makers ahead of Dussehra have unveiled the Telugu title of the movie with a brand-new poster. Peddanna is the title of the movie. Since the film is loaded with brother-sister sentiment, the makers have opted for this title of Peddanna.

The film’s Tamil teaser was dropped yesterday to a terrific response, while the Telugu teaser will be dropped soon.

Nayanthara is the leading lady opposite Superstar Rajinikanth, while Meena, Khushbu, Keethy Suresh, Jagapathi Babu and Prakash Raj will be seen in important roles. The film, which has its music by Imman, has Vetri as its cinematographer and Ruben as editor. Peddanna will hit the screens for this Diwali on November 4th in Telugu and Tamil.

RC16: Much awaited Ram Charan- Gowtam Tinnanuri project confirmed

Gowtam Tinnanuri has added another biggie to his impressive filmography. The young director who gave successful classics like Malli Raava and Jersey has been signed on for his next with Mega Power Star Ram Charan.

The project will be bankrolled by UV Creations who confirmed the update on social media a while ago. Gowtam is currently busy with Jersey Bollywood remake with Shahid Kapoor while Ram Charan has RRR and RC15 with Shankar under his belt now.

The style of both Gowtam Tinnanuri is quite contrasting and it will be interesting to see them collaborate on this project. Further details on the cast and crew are awaited and an official confirmation will come soon.

Mahati Swara Saagar onboard for Megastar’s Bhola Shankar

Megastar Chiranjeevi and Meher Ramesh are collaborating for the first time for a mass action entertainer Bhola Shankar to be produced by Ramabrahmam Sunkara. The film’s title poster was unveiled for Chiranjeevi’s birthday to a tremendous response.

The makers also unveiled a Rakhi special video to make the announcement of Keerthy Suresh playing Chiranjeevi’s sister in the movie and the response has been quite positive.

Meanwhile, the makers have come up with an update of young composer Mahati Swara Saagar joining the crew of the film. This shows Meher Ramesh’s confidence on Saagar. Meher and Mani Sharma combo delivered chartbuster music earlier, wherein Mani Sharma and Megastar is a successful combo from decades. Now the legacy of music is to be continued by his son Mahati Swara Saagar.

Bhola Shankar music will be versatile of songs and BGM with high standards with local and international collaborations. Saagar is going to be the sensational composer with this film.

My next is with Rajamouli, a pan-India project: Mahesh Babu

Fans all over have been eagerly waiting for Superstar Mahesh Babu’s foray into Bollywood. Mahesh however has continuously maintained that Tollywood is his primary focus and that he is comfortable doing Telugu films. Mahesh’s entry into Bollywood has been a constant topic of speculation and rumours. These have been put to rest by the Superstar himself many times.

In a recent interview with Forbes, when asked about his Bollywood entry, Mahesh Babu replied that while it will not be a direct Bollywood entry, his next will be a pan-India project with SS Rajamouli which would be made in multiple languages.

“I have always wanted to do the right film at the right time, if it was a Hindi film. And I think the time is now… my next is with SS Rajamouli sir and that will be in all languages,” he replied to the question.

Mahesh also mentioned that his ongoing project Sarkaru Vaari Paata will be hitting screens for Sankranti 2022 and post that he will move to other projects.

“I was born into the South industry, and I’m extremely happy and successful here. And I would change nothing about it,” he stated when answering about eager voices demanding his Bollywood entry.
