Kamal Hassan’s Vikram Telugu states rights sold at a huge price

Kamal Haasan is all set to make a comeback to the big screen after a gap of four years. Film lovers have missed the Kollywood legend and this is why he is returning with highly-anticipated action entertainer ‘Vikram’. Lokesh Kangaraj, who earlier directed Vijay starrer Master will handle this project.

One of the special things about Vikram is its star-studded star cast. Apart from Kamal who will play the titular role, this film will also star Vijay Sethupathy and Fahad Faasil. Just recently it was confirmed that even Suriya will play a cameo in this project.

This is why there’s a massive buzz around the movie. Not just in Tamil but Vikram has developed an immense craze in Telugu trade circles as well. Vikram’s theatrical rights for Telugu states have been sold for a whopping Rs 8.5 crores. This is one of the best Telugu trade for a Kamal Haasan film.

Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music of Vikram, Girish Gangadharan handles the cinematography and Philomin Raj is in charge of editing. The film’s glimpse was released last year and it featured the senior actor in an action-packed character. The teaser’s background music and Kamal’s intense portrayal were well appreciated. Vikram will release on 3rd June and will be bankrolled by Rajkamal Films International.

Ravi Teja planning to repeat the hit combo again

Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja has a series of exciting films lined up this year. Currently, he’s busy with Ramarao on Duty and we will also see Ravanasura and Tiger Nageswara Rao and Dhamaka releasing next. All these films are in the production stage.

After the failure of his highly anticipated Khiladi, Ravi Teja is taking extra care with the scripts and has even turned towards experimentation. While Dhamaka is a regular commercial entertainer, Tiger Nageswara Rao is an experimental subject based on true stories. Ramarao on Duty will see Ravi Teja as a civil servant tackling social issues while Raavanasura will feature the Mass Maharaja in a negative role.

Along with these movies, there are reports of the ‘Khiladi’ actor returning to his previous hit combo. He is in talks for a Sampath Nandi project. Both Ravi Teja and Sampath Nandi earlier worked on the 2015 action entertainer Bengal Tiger and it was a commercial success.

The director has narrated the script to Mass Maharaja and the latter seems to be quite impressed and has reportedly given a green signal to it. Sampath Nandi last directed Gopichand and Tamannah starrer Seetimarr in 2021. The film was an above-average success at the box office.

The much-awaited day has finally arrived and after a gap of more than 2 years, Superstar Mahesh Babu is back on screen with Sarkaru Vaari Paata. In a year that saw multiple pan-India releases, Mahesh’s craze and terrific response to trailer and movie songs ensured that the hype and buzz for Sarkaru Vaari Paata stays on par with everything else. Parasuram’s confidence on the subject and glimpse of vintage Mahesh from the promotional content has further hyped this release. Let’s check out if the film packs enough punch to capture the audience’s fancy.

Story: Sarkaru Vaari Paata follows the story of Mahesh (Mahesh Babu) who runs a private lending company in the USA. His traumatic past has turned him into an astute money lender who can go to any extent to recover his money. Kalaavathi (Keerthy Suresh) enters his life and loans $10,000 from him. This transaction brings a massive change to his life and brings him to India where he realizes there is a much bigger battle to be fought in form of Rajendranath (Samuthirkani). How Mahesh tackles this and what is the connection of this battle to his past is what Sarkaru Vaari Paata explores.

Performances: Super Star Mahesh Babu is the anchor of Sarkaru Vaari Paata and gives a performance that will engross not just the fans but even the general movie audience. His character is well sketched out with great scope for performance and he doesn’t disappoint and shoulders the entire movie brilliantly. The audience will definitely get the best of Mahesh in this film and whether it is fights, emotional scenes, comedy, or even the dances, he has given his all providing complete value for your movie ticket. Keerthy Suresh as Kalaavathi gives a fine performance and is not just a glam doll but a vital cog in the wheel. She looks great on screen and holds strong and steady in scenes with Mahesh and has a terrific screen presence. Her scenes with Mahesh in the first half are the movie’s highlight. Samuthirakani as Rajendranath is dependable as ever and although there is not much freshness in his character, he proves to be a solid antagonist and gives a strong performance. Vennela Kishore is great as always and lights up the first half with his comic timing. His comic timing scenes with Mahesh are some of the movie’s highlights. The rest of the cast including Subbaraju, Nadiya, Tanikella Bharani are well cast and bring great push to the story.

Analysis: Sarkaru Vaari Paata tackles a pretty relevant and crucial issue that impacts all our lives. Mahesh gives a terrific performance as a man deeply passionate about money and recovery. However, it’s the writing that halts the otherwise smooth flow of the movie. Certain scenes look repetitive and forced in the film and impact the overall look. The first half pushed the entertainment sky high and successfully engrosses the audience but the second half fails to match that momentum. Thaman who usually comes up with high voltage BGM has disappointed in this film. His background score especially in the fight scenes could have been better.

Verdict: Sarkaru Vaari Paata has given us vintage Mahesh who exceeds in all the departments. He has given yet another brilliant performance shouldering the thin storyline and making it enjoyable for the audience. Parasuram’s writing could have been better but he makes sure he used Mahesh’s impeccable timing to the full extent. Superstar’s charming performance and a full dose of entertainment make Sarkaru Vaari Paata a great watch.

This is why for Raja Deluxe, he has asked Maruthi to make certain changes in the script. While the filming of this project was supposed to start by now, it has been pushed to accommodate these last-minute script changes.

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Acharya is a huge commercial failure at box office. Chiranjeevi’s films after come back Khaidi 150 and Sye raa Narasimha Reddy done well at box office. So cashing in that Chiranjeevi joined with Successful director Koratala Siva for Acharya. Though the movie has several successful combinations, it failed to create an impact.

Ram Charan after RRR success should be a crowd puller but even that move didn’t work for Acharya. So lot of stake holders that hoped a blockbuster poured in a lot of money and incurred losses. Recently a distributor wrote an open letter to Chiranjeevi asking him to help.

A lot of distributors have the same feeling and this may have reached megastar. Now the latest info is that Chiranjeevi is returning 10Cr remuneration. Even Ramcharan wants to return some part of remuneration as compensation. Though the film is made under Konidela productions, it is unfortunate for mega heroes to compensate their share recorded as their remuneration.

Director Koratala Siva who convinced many distributors to buy the film is doing all the calculations now. It is heard that makers are planning to collect a total of 30Cr to compensate for distributors.

Super star Mahesh Babu has set Hyderabad box office on fire. Advance Bookings of Sarkaru Vaari Paata are massive for the opening day. The Telugu version of the film’s advance bookings are now a non RRR record. The film has crossed 7.2 crores for the opening day. This is big record and also a huge relief to the nizam distributors after the poor performance of Acharya. The film is releasing on May 12th.

RRR stands on top with 10.5 crores followed by Sarkaru Vaari Paata and Bheemla Nayak with 6.17 crores, Radhe Shyam with 6.16 crores, Pushpa:The Rise with 5.89 crores, KGF Chapter 2 with 6.2 crores and Acharya with 4.9 crores.

The film has made good pre release business with close to around 120 crores. The film has already impressed the audiences with the trailer and songs. The trailer alone crossed more than 27 Million Views in 24 hours making a sensational record. The songs of the film too increased the hype. The team and Mahesh Babu are looking very confident about the film.

Prabhas- Maruthi project was announced out of nowhere and shocked many including Prabhas’ own fans. The movie is going to be shot in a very quick time and ‘Darling’ has allocated a pretty limited schedule for the film.

It was recently revealed that Malavika Mohanan has been roped in to play one of the leads in this supernatural-comedy drama titled ‘Raja Deluxe’. The script needs three actresses and Anushka reportedly will play the lead while the third actress is yet to be announced.

Veteran Actor of Tollywood, Kota Srinivasa Rao made sensational comments recently on Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan. He made those comments during an interview. He went on to say that Ram Charan, son of Chiranjeevi doesn’t know acting. He said that Ram Charan is not a great actor and he became such a big star only because of being son to Chiranjeevi. He also said that he didn’t prove himself as an actor. These didn’t go well with Mega fans and some netizens. They feel that Ram Charan proved his acting capabilities with Rangasthalam and RRR. They fired on Kota Srinivasa Rao for his comments.

Kota also talked about Chiranjeevi during the interview and appealed him to supply food to the cine workers instead of building a hospital. He also said that Chiranjeevi didn’t help anyone by giving them money or a role in his film. He also spoke about Ram Charan as said above. Kota Srinivasa Rao enjoys a good rapport with all the star heroes. But him firing on Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan came as a shocker. Chiranjeevi’s brother Nagababu made derogatory comments on Kota Srinivasa Rao during the MAA Elections held in 2021. This might also be the reason for Kota firing on both.
