Zee acquires RC15 rights for a massive amount

Ram Charan and Shankar’s upcoming action-drama RC15 has been making waves right from the day it was announced. The film was launched grandly in Hyderabad last year and was attended by Bollywood, Tollywood and Kollywood biggies.

The film’s shooting is on and is going on at a great pace. Amidst this, reports are emerging that Zee Studios has bagged the non-theatrical rights of the film for a massive amount. The non-theatrical rights are in excess of Rs 150 crores and Dil Raju can easily bag Rs 200 crores from theatrical rights considering its a Shankar and Ram Charan project. Anything less than Rs 300 crores budget for the film would mean direct table profit for Dil Raju.

RC15 will star Kiara Advani in the lead. The film also stars Sunil, Srikanth, and Jayaram among others. Dil Raju and Sirish are producing the film under SVC Creations while SS Thaman is giving the music for the film.

This mega ambitious projecr is going to be on an anti-corruption theme. Ram Charan’s character is going to play an anti-corruption crusader in this social drama. This film is going to be unlike any of the other Shankar films.

Ala Vaikunthapuramuloo Hindi remake in a big mess

Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapuramuloo was the biggest Tollywood blockbuster of 2020 and created and broke a number of box-office records. The Ala Vaikunthapuramuloo Hindi remake titled Shehzada was announced in October last year.

Young Bollywood star Kartik Aryan was signed to play the lead role. Kriti Sanon was brought on board to play the female lead. Allu Aravind and Bhushan Kumar will be producing this remake.

With the official remake already announced, the makers are now facing fresh problems. The makers of Ala Vaikunthapurtamuloo have decided to release a dubbed version of the original on 26th January. The films dubbing rights have been acquired by Goldmine Films who are eager to cash in on the success of Allu Arjun’s recent superhit Pushpa.

Reportedly, team Sheshzada makers offered Goldmine Telefilms a whopping Rs 8 crores to stop theatrical and OTT release. The Goldmine Telefilms on the other hand wants either a share in Shehzada or a bigger offer than Rs 8 crores.

This has made the entire situation quite messy for the makers of Ala Vaikunthapuramuloo Hindi remake ‘Shehzada’

Interestingly it was Allu Aravind himself who sold the rights to Goldmine Telefilms. The ace producer might have to shell out some amount if he wants to stop the release of the dubbed version.

Paresh Raval will play Murali Sharma’s role while Manisha Koirala will be essaying the character played by Tabu. Rohit Dhawan is directing Shehzada while Pritam will compose the tunes.

Ram Pothineni’s #RAPO19 Movie Title Changed

Ram Pothineni’s #RAPO19 movie title has been changed. The film was originally titled Warrior, but due to a clash of titles with young hero Havish’s film, the team was forced to change the title of Ram Pothineni’s #RAPO19. Havish announced that the title of his film has already been announced as Havish.

The film is now titled ‘The Warrior‘. From the first look poster of the film, Ram can be seen playing a cop. This is the first time that Ram will don the role of a police officer in a full-length film. The first look promises an intense cop drama, on the lines of Gharshana. The film will release in both Tamil as well as in Telugu.

In the last few years, Ram has silently made a name for himself among the masses. He has established himself as a bankable actor at the box office. Hello Guru Prema Kosame, Ismart Shankar and RED have all been hits or super hits at the collection office. Despite negative reviews, RED and Ismart Shankar went on to become a hit.

Director N Linguswamy’s knowledge of the Telugu market will also help the film to do well. His previous films include Aawara(Paiyaa), and Pandem Kodi(Sandakozhi). Devi Sri Prasad is the music director of the movie.

AP Government’s Special Grant For Prabhas’ Theatre

The issue regarding the ticket rates in Andhra Pradesh has been an ongoing one. Despite many attempts from many prominent figures of the Telugu film industry, the Jagan-led government did not back down from its decision of lowering ticket rates. The tickets are as low as 10-20 rupees in AX theatres as well.

Due to this, many prominent theatres decided to close down their operations as the cost spent on running the theatres proved to be way more than they were making through ticket rates.

One among these was V Epiq in Sulurupeta, owned by Prabhas, which holds the record for South Asia’s largest movie screen. They also decided to close down operations due to losses. According to the G.O, because V Epiq came under the Panchayat, the prices were shockingly low for a high-maintenance theatre.

Now, in a turn of events, the AP government has given special permission to Prabhas’ theater V Epiq to hike the ticket rates. Due to this, V Epiq will be opening its operations once again.

This is a good sign that things are changing slowly yet surely at least.

Akhanda– Nandamuri Balakrishna’s mass comeback into the Telugu film industry. The film opened to phenomenal numbers and has run successfully for 50 days in theatres. A story about a fierce Shiva devotee who protects good from evil. The film was shouldered by NBK’s powerful screen presence. The film will stream from 21st January on the Disney+Hotstar platform. This is a must-watch if you haven’t watched it in theaters yet.

The film also stars Pragya Jaiswal, Jagapathi Babu, Nitin Mehta and Srikanth in prominent roles. Boyapati Srinu is the director of the film, and M. Ravinder Reddy has produced the film under Dwarka Creations.

Shyam Singha Roy– Shyam Singha Roy is also Nani’s comeback to form. He was going through a lull with back-back disappointing performances in V and Tuck Jagadish. Government fails, Exhibitors succeeded in AP

The AP tickets rate issue has taken multiple twists and turns and led to numerous statements and meetings from both sides. However, after so many events, one wonders what exactly did the AP government achieve out of this. The government as per its admission wanted to make tickets affordable to the people in the state. But, that hardly seems to be happening.

There was never a demand of reducing the ticket prices by the audience. The audience were quite comfortable with the existing prices and eve now are willing to pay the existing ticket rates. Secondly, the exhibitors are selling the tickets and most of the centers are not mentioning the actual numbers in DCR. This way, the government is losing the tax revenue as well.

Adding to this, the tickets are being sold for flat rates in most of the B and C centres. Understanding the government’s intention behind all this has become even more confusing. Nothing solid has been achieved out of the G.O 35 except confusion and troubles. It is about time the government starts beating around the bush and brings another G.O correcting this whole mess.

In fact, during the recent meeting between Megastar Chiranjeevi and CM Jaganmohan Reddy, the Chief Minister stated that he will look into the ticket pricing issue and resolve it. This is a stark contrast from his stand on this issue a few months ago, where he was not even willing to have a discussion on it.

RRR stars to clash for next Sankranti

The fate SS Rajamouli’ RRR is still undecided and a new release date is yet to be announced. But, according to reports, the release dates next films of both RRR stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan are sealed. Tarak’s NTR 30 with Koratala Siva and Charan’s RC 15 with Shankar will be clashing for Sankranti 2023.

Koratala Siva has set high expectations on NTR30. Speaking about the film, he earlier took to social media and said, “Last time repairs were local…but for a change we will cross boundaries this. Tarak will be undergoing a massive transformation for this film to get into a student union leader look. 

The pre-production works have already started on the film and as per reports, Alia Bhatt might star as the female lead with Anirudh Ravichander set to compose music.
