Kalyan Ram’s Bimbisara continued its terrific run on day 10 as well and pocketed a cool Rs 1.8 crores. This performance is truly applause-worthy because this week saw two new releases in the form of Macherla Niyojakavargam and Karthikeya 2.

After 10 days, Kalyan Ram’s Bimbisara has collected a massive Rs 28.5 crores and is turning out to be a blockbuster for all the parties involved. The theatrical rights for this film were sold at Rs 15 crores and it achieved breakeven in the first week itself.

Now with the blockbuster response to Bimbisara 1, Nandamuri Kalyan Ram has decided to go ahead with part 2. Set in 500 BC, the fantasy action film follows the story of Bimbisara (Kalyan Ram) who is a cruel and power-hungry king who takes extreme measures to suppress any dissent in his kingdom.

The fantasy drama, was released last week to positive reviews and excellent occupancies. Debutant Mallidi Vasisht has directed the film that also stars Catherine Tresa, Samyukhta Menon, and Vivan Bhatena in key roles. Kalyan Ram’s own banner NTR Arts has bankrolled this project with MM Keeravani lending the tunes.

Tollywood movies weekend Box office report and collections

This weekend many Tollywood movies and Bollywood dubbed versions of films have been released with an aim of maximizing profits from the Independence Day holiday after the weekend. To start with, Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chadda has been a major disaster story and has not created any impact in Telugu states despite Naga Chaitanya’s presence.

Macherla Niyojakavargam opened decently but crashed over the weekend and is heading towards disaster . Nikhil’s Karthikeya 2 is super strong and has already recovered 2/3 of theatrical business in 2 days. The film’s Hindi version is also doing great and many screens are being added in the northern belt.

Last week’s releases Bimbisara and Sita Ramam have performed well this weekend too. Both of these Tollywood movies have collected around Rs 3Cr share in Telugu states just during this weekend. The solid performance of Karthikeya 2, Bimbisara, and Sita Ramam has finally given a big relief to exhibitors.

Now with Liger set to release on 25th August, trade circles are hoping Tollywood continues its excellent performance and keeps scoring big numbers.

నిఖిల్ సిద్దార్థ్ కథానాయకుడిగా నటించిన తాజా సినిమా ‘కార్తికేయ 2’. ఈ సినిమా విడుదల విషయంలో తెర మీద సినిమాలో జరిగే తరహాలో ట్విస్ట్ లు జరిగి పలుమార్లు వాయిదా పడిన తర్వాత ఈ శనివారం థియేటర్లలోకి వచ్చింది. అయితే సినిమా విడుదలైంది. కానీ, ఆశించిన స్థాయిలో థియేటర్లు లభించలేదు. తక్కువ సంఖ్య ధియేటర్లలో విడుదల అయినప్పటికీ… ఎవరూ ఊహించని స్థాయిలో వసూళ్లు సాధించింది.


కార్తికేయ 2′ సినిమాకు తొలి రోజు ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా దాదాపు రూ. 8 కోట్ల గ్రాస్ లభించగా.. దాదాపు 5 కోట్ల షేర్ వచ్చినట్లు ట్రేడ్ వర్గాల సమాచారం. ఒక టైర్ 2 హీరో నిఖిల్‌కు ఇది చాలా భారీ స్థాయి ఓపెనింగ్ అనే చెప్పాలి. తెలుగు రాష్ట్రాల్లో అటు ఓవర్సీస్ లో కూడా ఈ సినిమా మంచి వసూళ్లు సాధించింది.


ఆ రకంగా చూసుకుంటే “కార్తికేయ 2″సినిమా తొలి రోజే బడ్జెట్ లో 35 శాతం రికవరీ చేసినట్లు ట్రేడ్ వర్గాల నుంచి అందించిన సమాచారం. ఇక ఈ వారం విడుదలైన మాచర్ల నియోజకవర్గం, మరియు హిందీ చిత్రాలైన లాల్ సింగ్ చద్దా, రక్షా బంధన్ సినిమాలకు నెగిటివ్ టాక్ రావడంతో కార్తీకేయ 2 సినిమాకు ఎదురే లేకుండా పోయింది. శనివారం రాత్రి కొన్ని ఏరియాల్లో ఎక్స్ట్రా స్క్రీన్లు, థియేటర్లు పెంచారు.


ఇక ఆదివారం అంటే ఈరోజు కూడా మార్నింగ్ షోలకు ప్రేక్షకులు భారీ ఎత్తున తరలి వచ్చారు. అదే కాక అంతకు మించిన విశేషం ఏమిటంటే.. తెలుగు రాష్ట్రాల్లో చాలా చోట్ల కార్తీకేయ 2 చిత్రానికి పొద్దున 8-9 గంటల సమయంలో అదనపు షోలు వేయగా అవి కూడా హౌజ్ ఫుల్ అయ్యాయి. దాన్ని బట్టి ఈ చిత్రానికి ప్రేక్షకుల్లో ఎంత ఆదరణ ఉందో అర్థం అవుతుంది.

ఇక ఈ కలెక్షన్ల వరస చూస్తుంటే కార్తీకేయ 2 సినిమా బాక్స్ ఆఫీసు వద్ద ఫుల్ రన్ పూర్తయ్యే సినిమాకి ప్రపంచ వ్యాప్తంగా 30 కోట్ల షేర్ ను సాధిస్తుందని ట్రేడ్ వర్గాలు అంచనా వేస్తున్నాయి. పైగా రేపు సోమవారం (ఇండిపెండెన్స్ డే హాలిడే) సెలవు రోజు కావడంతో మొదటి మూడు రోజుల్లో అత్యధిక వసూళ్లు రాబట్టే అవకాశం ఉంది. 

చందూ మొండేటి దర్శకత్వం వహించిన ‘కార్తికేయ 2’లో నిఖిల్ సరసన అనుపమా పరమేశ్వరన్ కథానాయికగా నటించారు. శ్రీనివాస రెడ్డి ‘వైవా’ హర్ష సహాయక పాత్రలలో కనిపించారు. ఆదిత్యా మీనన్, తులసి, ప్రవీణ్, సత్య తదితరులు ఇతర పాత్రల్లో నటించారు. ఒక కీలక అతిధి పాత్రలో బాలీవుడ్ నటుడు అనుపమ్ ఖేర్ నటించారు. ఈ చిత్రాన్ని పీపుల్స్ మీడియా ఫ్యాక్ట‌రీ, అభిషేక్ అగ‌ర్వాల్ ఆర్ట్స్ పతాకాలపై టీజీ విశ్వ‌ప్ర‌సాద్, అభిషేక్ అగ‌ర్వాల్ సంయుక్తంగా నిర్మించారు. తెలుగుతో పాటు హిందీలో ఉత్తరాది ప్రేక్షకుల నుంచి కూడా సినిమాకు మంచి స్పందన లభిస్తోంది.

తెలుగు చలనచిత్ర పరిశ్రమలో అగ్ర నిర్మాతలలో ఒకరు దిల్ రాజు. కేవలం సినిమాలు నిర్మించడం కాకుండా పరిశ్రమకు చెందిన కొన్ని కీలక నిర్ణయాలు అమలు పరచడంలో ఆయన పాత్ర ఉంటుందన్న మాట వాస్తవం. ఎందుకంటే అంతగా ఆయన పరిశ్రమ వర్గాలను ప్రభావితం చేసే స్థానంలో ఉన్నారు. కానీ గత కొన్ని రోజులుగా దిల్ రాజు చుట్టూ సమస్యలు ఏర్పడుతున్నాయి. అయన బ్యానర్ లో వచ్చిన సొంత సినిమాలు వరుసగా బాక్సాఫీస్ వద్ద పరాజయం పాలవడంతో దిల్ రాజు ప్రస్తుతం ఆయన కెరీర్ లోనే అత్యంత దారుణమైన దశలో ఉన్నారు.

South Indian cinema is shining but Bollywood is struggling

Two big Bollywood Superstar movies were released this week in the form of Aamir Khan’s Lal Singh Chadda and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan. Both these films had disastrous openings and screens had to be removed from multiple places. Laal Singh Chadda and Raksha Bandhan failed big time to get the audience in theatres.

Contrary to this, Tollywood is continuing its victory run with continuous successes like Bimbisara, Sita Ramam, and Karthikeya2. The Kollywood trade has also picked up and trade circles are also super happy with the openings of Karthi’s film Viruman.

The film opened with career-best numbers for Karthi by a big margin. Similarly, the Kannada industry is also on a great high after the massive success of Vikrant Rona ram well. Coming to the Malayalam industry, Tovino Thomas and Kalyani Priyadarshan starter Thallumaala released on 12th August and is doing excellent numbers.

All the films from South Industries are doing well and bringing smiles to trade circles’ faces. Only Bollywood cinema market is struggling now.

Due to the success of the recent releases in the form of Bimbisara and Sita Ramam, the buzz around the Telugu Film Industry has been positive. Everyone was looking forward to the next weekend’s releases Macherla and Karthikeya 2.

While one of the two has been running strongly, the other has crashed at the box office and there are no prices for guessing which is which. Nithin’s Macherla Niyojakavargam was released in theatres on 12th August and fared decently well on the first day.

Despite the negative talk and reviews, it managed to collect decent opening day figures. However, the negative reviews quickly worked in the downfall of the film. It failed to continue the same momentum in the following days.

After day 1, the day 2 and day 3 collections have been disastrous and the film crashed. The theatricals of the film are valued at 20+ crores and the movie is nowhere near that mark. At this rate, the movie is heading towards a single-digit closing share.

Macherla Niyojakavargam also stars Krithi Shetty, Catherine Tresa, and Samuthirakani in the lead roles. MS Rajashekar Reddy is the director of the film and Swara Sagar Mahati is the music director. The film is releasing on OTT on 9th September.

Nithin’s Macherla Niyojakavargam was released in theatres on 12th August and opened to an average first day at the box office. Despite the decent hype around the film, it failed to pull the audiences to the cinema halls.

This is mainly due to the formulaic template of the movie. Many complained that Macherla was the same old dish served on a new plate. The same over-the-top fight scenes, 2-3 songs, and some powerful mass dialogues.

This formula used to work back in the day but audiences are no longer ready for formulaic content. The success of Sita Ramam and Bimbisara is all the more proof that people will flock to the theatres as long as the content in the film is good.

Nevertheless, Macherla Niyojakavargam is hitting the OTT route in a couple of weeks. It will release on the Amazon Prime Video platform on 9th September. It is following the rule of releasing a film on OTT only after a gap of 4 weeks.
