Chris Hemsworth, one of the most happening Hollywood stars, has expressed his deepest fear. He has got signals of getting a debilitating disease called Alzheimer’s. The disease affects almost one in 9 persons above 65 years of age. Its consequences are immense, like memory loss, abilities to judge take a hit.
This ‘Thor’ star took the number of tests to check the potential of getting Alzheimer’s. It was confirmed through these tests that in his DNA there are two copies of a particular gene(APOE4) that came from his mother and father which would lead to this debilitating disease.
This alarm bells of Alzheimer’s made him rethink about his work, life etc. In an interview to Vanity Fair, he said that he would be taking time off from work and spend more time with family and kids. This isn’t a retirement, but he would be taking work slowly.
It’s rather rare to have two copies of APOE4 gene, people with one copy have only a slight chance for Alzheimer’s development, but Hemsworth having 2 copies is worrying.
This action star said that this reveal isn’t some sort of publicity stunt for entertainment, but his acknowledgement that health is essential, and we need to think about the future and face it rather than avoiding thoughts about death.
