“Avatar: The Way of Water”, the second part of the Avatar (2009) which was the highest grosser for Hollywood movies until the Avengers Endgame Released and overtook it.

Avatar 2 has hit the cinemas across the world today (Dec 16), however, several exhibitors in Tamil Nadu have refused to screen the Hollywood film. The exhibitors in Tamil Nadu have their fair share of reasons for doing so.

According to the distributors and exhibitors, Avatar2 distributors demanded more share which has put more burden on exhibitors on weekdays, so the theater owners have now decided not to give over 55% share for dubbed movies even if it is on the first weekend or first week.

Avatar 2 faced the same problem before the release in Kerala too. The Kerala distributors also opposed the percentage, but later agreed to have a share of 55 percent of profits earned from the movie during the initial two weeks of ‘Avatar: 2’s release.

Initially, fans in Kerala were depressed as uncertainty loomed large over the release of James Cameron’s film in the state because of disagreement over a profit-sharing clause with the film’s distributors.

Avatar (2009) grossed $2.9 billion at the box office when the film was released in 2009. It turned out to become the highest-grossing movie of all time and was nominated for nine Academy Awards.

Director Sailesh Kolanu got fame with ‘HIT’ and continued his success streak with the second part as well. He even announced the third part in this franchise, with Nani as the lead actor. But sources say that the talented director will work on another project before he starts ‘HIT 3’.

According to the reports, Sailesh will work with Victory Venkatesh, and it will be the senior hero’s 75th project.

The news of Hit Series Director Sailesh joining the hands for a film with Venkatesh has raised a doubt in industry circles and the audience are thinking now that this will be a standalone movie, or it will be a part of Hit universe.

If Venkatesh joins the Hit universe, then definitely it will raise the expectations of the audience to another level. Also, it will be completely unique kind of role for Venkatesh being a part of crime thriller franchise.

As we know, Sailesh’s films are all neat thrillers without having much of commercial elements. Venkat Boyanapally who produced ‘Shyam Singha Roy’ under his ‘Niharika Entertainments’ banner, will reportedly handle this project. It will be the second film from the upcoming production house.

Victory Venkatesh has done handful films in his career which have mass orientation, but he’s always received superb successes with family oriented films and also films having importance for heroines.

Venkatesh’s fans have been waiting to see him in a pure mass role for a longtime, and it will delight them if the news of him being a part of Hit Universe turns out to be correct.

Village Panchayat of Mandrem in Goa on Wednesday issued a “stop work” notice to Telugu actor Nagarjuna over the alleged illegal construction and excavation work at Mandrem village in North Goa.

Mandrem Panchayat sarpanch Amit Sawant has issued the notice under the Goa Panchayat Raj Act 1994. As per the notice, the respondent has been involved in illegal activity in the village jurisdiction.

“Whereas it is noticed by this Panchayat that you are doing alleged illegal construction and excavation, in property bearing survey no. 211/2 B at Ashvewada, Mandrem, village without obtaining prior permission from the competent authorities and this Panchayat,” the notice reads.

Amit Sawant also stated that the Panchayat was formed recently, only in September. So, he gave the actor the benefit of doubt before issuing the notice by going back through record books and checking if permissions had been taken.

However, no evidence of any approval was found. He added that Nagarjuna now needs to respond to the stop work order with any permission or related documents that he may have in possession.

Nagarjuna was recently starred in the Telugu film The Ghost and the Bollywood blockbuster Brahmastra. While Brashmastra became a hit at the box office, The Ghost film failed to impress both the audiences and critics.

Bollywood has had a tough couple of years with 2022, in particular, being a harsh one for the industry. Several highly anticipated movies of top A-list stars Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chadha, Hrithik Roshan’s Vikram Vedha, Akshay Kumar’s Samrat Prithviraj and Raksha Bandhan all failed to create an impact and failed miserably. Director Rohit Shetty took strong objection to this bad phase being projected as Bollywood’s overall failure.

Barring Brahmastra, Kashmir Files, Bhool Bhulaiyya 2, and Drushyam 2, none of the hyped releases managed to create a box office storm. Rohit Shetty, who is known for making commercial blockbusters was asked a question about this poor run of Bollywood in comparison to southern industries’ terrific run this year.

Rohit Shetty was quick to point out that Bollywood has been known to churn out one blockbuster after another since the 1970s. He listed out Deewar, Don, Hum Aaapke Hai Kaun, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge, Singham, Suryavanshi, Amar Akbar Anthony among several others.

Rohit Shetty said that it was Bollywood that set the template of commercial movies in India and 1 or 2 poor years can’t judge Bollywood’s credibility.

In comparison to Bollywood’s poor run, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam industries gave several blockbusters this year. RRR, KGF2, Vikram, Kantara, Karthikeya 2, and Ponniyin Selvan were just some movies among several others that created a tsunami of collections.

Vishal’s Laththi movie opens with a disastrous opening and bad WOM

Vishal’s second release of the year Laththi released today to low pre-release buzz and occupancies. The film features Vishal as a constable who’s suspended from his job who gets trapped in an unfortunate situation.

Laththi opened to disastrous openings and extremely poor word of mouth. The actor’s earlier release Veerame Vaagai Soodum ended up as a major commercial failure at the box-office and huge expectations were set on this project.

Laththi released in Telugu along with Tamil and the noon shows openings are also quite disastrous. The film now needs a serious jump over the next couple of days which looks highly unlikely now. A Vinoth Kumar has written and directed this project which also stars Sunaina and Prabhu in key roles.

Laththi follows the story of a suspended police constable who is trapped in an under-construction property along with his 10-year-old son. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music for this bilingual project which has been bankrolled on Rana Productions banner.

The actor had promoted the film extensively across Tamil Nadu and Telugu states. He will be next seen in Mark Antony along with Thupparivaalan 2- a sequel to his 2018 investigation thriller.

Avatar 2 is holding well on week days at India Box Ofice

Avatar 2 is turning out to be a super hit at the Indian box office. The film opened in the Indian theaters with a whopping Rs 40 crores. Ever since, there is no looking back for the film and even with a slight decline in its numbers, the film has been earning in double digits daily.

In India, Avatar 2 is inching closer to Rs 200 crore at the box office now. The film witnessed record-breaking collections from South India, which surprised everyone.

After the great first weekend Avatar the way of Water has collected 19 Crores net on Monday, 17 Crores on Tuesday and close to 16 Crores on Wednesday in India.

Trade circles are confident that Avatar 2 will hold stable until weekend and on Saturday and Sunday the numbers of the film will be huge again.

The film is driven by the numbers in the South India territories, but Hindi circuits are also helpful. Just that they are not with the collections in the South.

More than a decade later, Avatar’s sequel, The Way of Water, was released on December 16. The film shows the life of the Sully family comprising Jake, Neytiri and their kids. Steven Lang’s Quaritch and his tribe attack them, and how Sully’s retort forms the story.

The second part of Avatar is more based on personal relationships and is about protecting families and their bonding.

The film features Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldana, and Kate Winslet, among others, in lead roles. Avatar: The Way of Water has released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on December 16, 2022.
