‘Bedurulanka 2012’ stars Kartikeya Gummakonda and Neha Shetty of ‘DJ Tillu’ fame in lead roles. Loukya Entertainments’ Ravindra Banerjee (Benny) has produced the movie, which is presented by C Yuvraju. Clax has directed it. Ahead of the dramedy’s theatrical release on August 25, its pre-release event was held in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, hero Kartikeya said that the characters and the films he has done so far are different in their own ways. And ‘Bedurulanka 2012’ is in a completely different league, he suggested. If ‘RX 100’ was his breakout movie, ‘Bedurulanka 2012’ is going to be like a new introduction, he indicated. In both films, his name is Shiva. He added that the latest film has been made without calculating about his market and all.
“After hearing the story, I felt that it would be good if the audience enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed it. Clax is a passionate narrator. The audience will enjoy and think about this story 100 percent. Clax’s clarity about life will be reflected in the movie. Our wavelengths matched and that’s why I could enjoy doing this dramedy. I have also changed as a person, thanks to doing this movie. The audience will surely feel the difference. Producers have always wanted to do love stories and action films with me. Clax believed that I could do this character and producer Benny believed that both of us could pull it off. He is a new-age producer,” Kartikeya said.
He added said that Neha Shetty put aside her ‘DJ Tillu’ character Radhika and delivered fresh output. The actor referred to Mani Sharma’s track record by making a reference to Chiranjeevi’s ‘Rama Chilakamma’ song. “Even though he has done many genre films with many heroes, Mani Sharma garu said that he has never done this type of film. I am happy to have had the opportunity to dance to my favorite music director’s songs. All the technicians and artists worked hard. Every character is important in the film. Whether my films play or not, the audience show love and affection towards me. We are so confident about the success of ‘Bedurulanka’ that we are planning paid premiere shows on the 24th night,” he added.
Director Clax said, “Everyone says that producer Benny garu chooses sensible stories. It is not enough that one writes a sensible story. It takes someone to recognize and understand the essence of the story. It is only Benny garu who appreciated the core point of my story. Other heroes to whom I had narrated the story asked for changes. But Kartikeya didn’t. We are lucky to find a hero like Kartikeya and a producer like Benny garu.” The director also appreciated his technical team.
‘Bimbisara’ director Vassishta Mallidi began his speech by congratulating the producer, whose ‘Colour Photo’ won a National Award earlier. He wished the team of ‘Bedurulanka’ all the best.
Heroine Neha Shetty said that her character in ‘DJ Tillu’ hails from Telangana and her character in ‘Bedurulanka’ hails from Andhra. “I am happy to be a part of a good movie,” she said, suggesting that the makers first had doubts as to whether he could do a village girl’s role. “When ‘RX 100’ was released in theatres, I watched it with my friends. At that time, I didn’t expect that I would act with Kartikeya someday,” she added.
Sandeep Raj, the director of ‘Color Photo’ said, “After I completed the script work of ‘Colour Photo’, I gave a narration to producer Benny anna. I know what kind of sensibilities he appreciates. His suggestions for the script were very helpful. If he gives a small smile after seeing the scene, it means it is a good scene. Coming to ‘Bedurulanka’, the trailer is better than I expected. The movie will be a big blockbuster.”
‘Baby’ director Sai Rajesh described Benny as a contemporary producer. He predicted that Benny would emerge as a big producer in the industry. “I love Kartikeya’s off-screen behaviour. I loved every song in this movie. I sincerely hope that it will be a blockbuster,” he added.
Karthik Dandu, the director of ‘Virupaksha’, said that producer Benny picks a variety of subjects. He revealed that Clax’s suggestions were used for ‘Virupaksha’. “I know the story of ‘Bedurulanka’. Clax will be a good director. He has a lot of clarity. Kartikeya and Neha Shetty will score a hit,” he added.
