Weak advance bookings for Pawan Kalyan’s Gudumba Shankar re-release

Normally Pawan Kalyan’s re-releases open with very great celebrations and big numbers. Even for Gudumba Shankar, this was expected and the team initially planned perfectly by announcing the rerelease date as 31st August. With Varun Tej’s new film Gandivadhari Arjuna releasing last Friday, the release of Gudumba Shankar was rescheduled to 2nd September coinciding with Powerstar’s birthday.

Now, the plans have changed with Varun Tej’s movie performing terribly at the box office. The re-release has now been pulled ahead and Gudumba Shankar will be hitting the screens tomorrow. Due to this last-minute shuffle, the advance bookings opened with this complete mess. Because of this, even the audience does not have much interest in the movie. The advance bookings are very weak and a record opening is not possible this time around.

Directed by Veera Shankar and produced by Naga Babu under the banner of Anjana Productions, the film, Gudumba Shankar originally released the film in 2004. Pawan Kalyan also provided the screenplay for the film and choreographed action sequences for the film as well. Meera Jasmine and Ashish Vidyarthi played important roles. Mani Sharma composed the music for the film.

Bhairava Dweepam re-release postponed due to lack of audience interest

Balakrishna’s Bhairava Dweepam joined the long list of re-releases hitting the screens. Unfortunately, the re-release of this action fantasy adventure has been now postponed. The movie was actually planned to hit the screens today and a trailer was also released regarding the release. Unfortunately, the general audience and even fans showed complete disinterest and with no choice the re-release got postponed.

Interestingly, Nagarjuna’s Manmadhudu was also released just a day ago i.e. yesterday on the occasion of his birthday. With so many re-releases happening back to back, audience fatigue could be a reason behind complete disinterest in the film’s screening. Even Pawan Kalyan’s Gudumba Shankar is also up for re-release on 31st August.

Directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, Bhairava Dweepam is considered a classic in Tollywood and earned Balakrishna great fame and awards. The fantasy movie was released on April 14, 1994, and became a huge commercial hit as well. The film created a record by winning a total of 9 Nandi Awards. Roja played the female lead opposite Balakrishna and Rambha appeared in a special song titled Naruda O Naruda.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer has been wreaking havoc at the global box office for the past three weeks and putting up numbers that few would have fathomed. Recently, the film has achieved another such milestone as it has crossed the Tamil Nadu collections of last year’s Kamal Haasan starter blockbuster Vikram. Now it is all set to create an epic record for Tamil Cinema.

Jailer Tamil version has collected more than 475Cr until now and the trade is expecting it to join the magical 500Cr club in its full run and if it does, this will be the 1st ever film to collect more than 500Cr gross in the Tamil version, which is a sensational record.

With no biggie in sight and tremendous applause for Rajini’s performance, Jailer has been on a non-stop collection spree, surpassing one Tamil biggie after another. This has been a remarkable turnaround for both Rajini and Nelson, whose earlier respective films Annaatthe and Beast had failed to live up to the mark and bombed at the box-office.

Jailer, the film tells us the story of a retired Jailer who hunts down on a big criminal gang who kidnapped and supposedly killed his son, who is a police officer. He takes the help of his old friends and contacts in this process.

Rajinikanth makes surprise visit to his first workplace

On Tuesday, Rajinikanth, the Tamil superstar who worked as a conductor in his early days, paid a surprise visit to his workplace, a bus depot in Bengaluru. At the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) depot, he had a conversation with his old friends such as the drivers, conductors, and helpers and took pictures with them.

Rajinikanth, one of the biggest figures in Indian cinema, has acted in over 160 films. Earlier this month, his latest movie, ‘Jailer’, was released and became a massive blockbuster, and it has grossed over Rs 600 crore worldwide.

Born in Bengaluru, Rajinikanth worked in various odd jobs before settling down as a bus conductor for the transport corporation. Though he was not a star yet, passengers would let the other buses go empty and wait for the one where Rajinikanth was on duty to watch him issue tickets and return the change in his trademark style. He has made such an impression among the public as an entertainer.

Rajinikanth then began playing in Kannada’s plays, where he got a good name for the performance as the wicked Duryodhan in the adaptation of the Mahabharata.

After that, he joined the Madras Film Institute in 1973. At the same time, a stage performance made him grab the attention of legendary director K Balachander, who recommended him to learn the Tamil language and cast him in his very first role in the 1975 Tamil movie Apoorva Raagangal.

The movie became the first Indian film to appear at San Diego Comic-Con and captivated the audience with its spellbinding visuals and unique concept in network first glimpse, making it the first Indian film to exhibit there. Karthikeya scores much-needed hit with Bedurulanka 2012

Bedurulanka 2012 starring Karthikeya and Neha Shetty has emerged as a surprise hit of last week’s releases. The movie opened to decent reviews and word of mouth. This hit has come as a much-needed gift for Karthikeya who after a string of flops was really banking on this movie’s success. Even before the movie’s release, the young actor seemed quite confident.

The theatricals were sold at Rs 4Cr and the film collected around Rs 8Cr gross in 4 days. Karthikeya had expressed great confidence in this film at the pre-release event and it has paid off.

P Vasu and Raghava Lawrence’s upcoming horror film, Chandramukhi 2, will be released as a Vinayaka Chavithi special in September. The movie has gained a lot of attention in the trade circles, and it has done a record amount of pre-release business as well. Also, looking at the promotional content of the film, it looks like the makers of Chandramukhi 2 are continuing the sentiment of Part 1.

If we observe, for the first part of Chandramukhi, in the Telugu version the makers used the Tamil language song Vaarai and In the Tamil version they used the Telugu language song has Ra Ra. Now for the 2nd part, they are doing the same as well. It is in more number now as the makers are doing it for 3 songs. As of now, they used 3 Telugu songs in Tamil version and 3 Tamil songs in the Telugu version. The movie certainly looks like a proper continuation of the 1st part.

The film is scheduled to be released this year on Vinayaka Chavithi in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. Directed by P Vasu, Chandramukhi 2 is the sequel to the blockbuster Tamil horror comedy Chandramukhi, which starred Rajinikanth and Jyothika in the lead roles.

The film has been wreaking havoc at the global box office for the past three weeks and putting up numbers that few would have fathomed. And now, it has achieved another such milestone. It has crossed the Tamil Nadu collections of last year’s Kamal Haasan starter blockbuster Vikram.

Vikram had collected Rs 184Cr gross in Tamil Nadu and Jailer broke this record and is now heading towards Rs 200Cr gross mark. The action thriller directed by Nelson Dileepkumar is still holding very strong and will easily cross the Rs 200Cr mark. However, Ponniyin Selvan is likely to remain at the top as it has collected more than Rs 225Cr+ gross in TN.

As of yesterday, Jailer has collected around Rs 180Cr+ gross in Tamil Nadu, and it gathered around 80Cr in Telugu states. 62Cr+ gross in Karnataka, 52Cr gross in Kerala. Overall, for 18 days, Jailer has collected around 390Cr gross in India and in Overseas around 187 Cr, which makes the total gross up to 577Cr gross worldwide, and it has every chance to collect 600Cr in its full run.
