Nowadays, the pre-release hype and a proper release date have become very crucial for any film’s success. Either a film should contain enormous craze or it should be released on such a date which benefits from a good holiday weekend. Sadly, Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha’s latest romantic family entertainer Kushi missed a good release date. The film’s team made a costly mistake that lost them crores.

The team of Kushi selected a bad release date where the film does not enjoy any public holiday. If the film had been released on festival weekend it would have definitely done well, especially in Andhra Pradesh and Nizam. The holiday push which could raise the numbers at the box office was missed by the film’s team.

Kushi had a better run in Nizam, still the film movie collapsed after a good weekend. Even getting breakeven looks impossible now in this region. In Andhra, the movie has faced massive losses, projected around 40%-50%. While the movie’s performance has been extremely unsatisfactory, Kushi’s makers are working hard to project it as a success through inflated numbers and success meets.

Kushi also stars Murali Sharma, Jayaram, Sachin Khedekar, Saranya Pradeep, and Vennela Kishore in crucial roles. It is a pan-India release with it hitting the screens in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. Fans were eager to catch Vijay in a romantic role after a long time and with Samantha’s presence, there was greater curiosity as to how this pair will look on screen, but Shiva Nirvana’s narration and the film’s dip in tempo in the second half made the audience feel detached.

Hero Nikhil Siddhartha constantly tries to give his best for his movies. The actor who doesn’t like to be in his comfort zone pushes himself hard to play challenging roles. He will be undergoing an incredible training session for his next Pan India film, Swayambhu.

For films based on wars, an actor needs to be a thorough professional and learn every type of combat skill. So, to play a warrior in Swayambhu with panache, Nikhil flew off to Vietnam for a month-long grueling training. He will receive training in weapons, martial arts, and horse riding. Some of the biggest stunt masters and teams in Saigon will be part of the team and train him for the action sequences for Swayambhu.

Nikhil will also undergo a physical makeover as well. The actor indeed looked flawless as a legendary warrior in the first look poster. It is definitely the most challenging role thus far for Nikhil.

Bharat Krishnamachari will direct the movie, which marks the milestone 20th movie for Nikhil and also the most expensive one for the actor. Bhuvan and Sreekar will produce the movie under Pixel Studios, with Tagore Madhu presenting it.

Swayambhu will be mounted with top technical standards. Manoj Paramahamsa helms the cinematography, while Ravi Basrur scores the music. M Prabhaharan is the production designer and the dialogues for the movie are provided by Vasudev Muneppagari.

Gadar 2 may narrowly miss achieving Industry hit status

Gadar 2 starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel has set several records with its outstanding run at the box office. The film was released on August 11th along with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 during the Independence weekend. It received a unanimous talk from the audiences, which resulted in the film becoming a massive blockbuster at the box office.

As of now, Gadar 2 has collected around 508Cr net In India. The previous industry hit, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan is the current all-time record grosser of Bollywood with 525Cr net. Now as SRK’s new film, Jawan released on a huge number of screens and opened with unanimous positive reports. So Gadar 2 is likely to miss the chance of breaking Pathaan’s records. Now Jawan is expected to break Pathaan by a good margin.

Gadar 2, produced by ZEE Studios, is a sequel to the popular movie Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, which was released in 2001. Sunny Deol played the role of truck driver Tara in the movie, while Ameesha Patel played Sakeena in the film, which was set during the 1947 Indian Partition. In Gadar 2, Tara Singh is seen crossing the border in a risked attempt to rescue his son, Utkarsh Sharma, who is being held captive in Pakistan.

Allari Naresh’s last film, Ugram had received good reviews but failed to achieve good success at the box office. Now, if the inside reports are to be believed, he is all set to join Akkineni Nagarjuna for the latter’s upcoming film, Naa Saami Ranga.

Naa Saami Ranga is said to be the remake of Malayalam hit Porinju Mariam Jose. As per the story, the movie demands another hero, and the team has finalized Allari Naresh for the role. The movie unit is planning for Sankranthi release. The title glimpse , which was released recently, saw an excellent response.

Popular choreographer Vijay Binni who worked on many noted movies, is making his directorial debut with the movie billed to be a Mass entertainer. Passionate producer Srinivasa Chitturi of Tollywood’s leading production house Srinivasaa Silver Screen who lined up some high-budget entertainers with top stars of the industry, will be making the movie on a massive scale. Pavan Kumar is presenting this project that is touted to be rich, in terms of production design and technical standards.

Legendary composer MM Keeravani who provided many chart buster albums for Nagarjuna and won the Oscar Award and National Award for his work in RRR will be scoring the music for the movie. The blockbuster writer Prasanna Kumar Bezawada provided the story and dialogues for the film that will have some well-known technicians to helm different crafts.

This week saw the release of Shahrukh Khan’s Bollywood biggie Jawaan and Ms Shetty Mr Polishetty starring Naveen Polishetty and Anushka Shetty.

Both movies have received good reports from early shows. While Ms Shetty Mr Polishetty is a complete romantic entertainer with a heavy dose of comedy, its lack of emotion is something the audience felt disconnected from. Naveen Polishetty’s great comic timing and fresh performance combined with good visuals and a fresh concept have been well received. The film has managed to create some intrigue thanks to its fresh look and unique casting. With Anushka appearing on screen after 3 years, everyone’s curious how this film has come out

Atlee’s Jawan is an out-and-out mass entertainer quite on lines with Shankar’s vigilante action dramas. The commercial elements have come out really well and Atlee’s grand vision and Anirudh’s roaring BGM combined with King Khan’s unmatched screen presence and performance have succeeded in delivering a successful mass entertainer. Jawan is expected to get off to a record box-office opening and a positive word of mouth and superb occupancies for coming shows mean that excellent weekend numbers are on the cards.

Story: Vikram Rathod (Shah Rukh Khan) puts the lives of 376 passengers at risk while hijacking a metro train. Narmada (Nayanthara) is the lady officer who negotiates with him successfully but fails to catch him. But Vikram does not stop there, as he is on a mission to tell something to the society. Meanwhile, Azad (also SRK) and Narmada fall for each other. Kalee Gaikwad (Vijay Sethupathi), an arms dealer, has a past connection with Vikram Rathod. What is the backstory of Vikram and Kalee? Who is Aishwarya? Will Vikram be successful in his mission? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.

Performances: Shah Rukh Khan gives a complete one-man show in the film. Right from start to end, he mesmerizes with his enchanting screen presence and one liners in the dual role. Vijay Sethupathi was good and entertained in villain role. Deepika Padukone was effective in a small yet vital role. Nayanthara was Good while Priyamani, Sunil Grover, Sanya Malhotra and others were fine.

Verdict:

Overall, Jawan is a well-made mass movie with enough entertainment packed with grand taking. Shah Rukh Khan’s performance, Anirudh’s BGM, action sequences work well for the film, while the tried and tested storyline and some dull moments around the flashback are minus points.

Story: The plot is about Anvita (Anushka) an independent woman with strong opposition to companionship and marriage. While she is against the concept of a romantic relationship, she is equally up for having a child. What happens when her path crosses with Siddhu (Naveen Polishetty) a stand-up comedian who’s poles apart in his approach to life is what the story follows.

Performances: Naveen Polishetty is the soul of the movie and quite ably shoulders the proceedings and even saves it from weak writing in parts. His pleasant screen presence and impeccable comic timing are major assets to this romantic entertainer. He successfully transitions from one mood to another with terrific ease and balances the emotions quite well. Anushka Shetty is as dependable as ever and portrays a strong independent woman with great elegance and ease. Anushka has once again proven why she’s regarded as one of the finest. Other actors like Jayasudha, Murali Sharma, Abhinav Gomatam have roles that we have seen them perform several times. And just like ever they are dependable.

It’s freshness in casting and visuals will certainly help you in connecting with the lead characters well. Naveen and Anushka’s performance and entertainment quotient aside, the film starts to crumble due to some weak scenes and screenplay. Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty is a great watch nevertheless if you are bored of routine entertainers and want to feel and enjoy something fresh.

Rajinikanth’s latest blockbuster Jailer now streaming on OTT

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer is now out on OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. Jailer has been running in theatres for over 25 days now. Its performance in both the domestic and the overseas markets has been phenomenal and record-breaking making it a Kollywood industry hit.

Directed by Nelson Dileepkumar, Jailer follows the story of Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer living happily with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and grandson. The story is about how Muthuvel Pandian goes on a war against Varma, the mastermind behind the large-scale smuggling of temple idols and treasures, and Muthvel’s son’s disappearance.

Apart from Rajinikanth, Jailer also features Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, and Tamannaah Bhatia in pivotal roles. Veteran stars Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, and Jackie Shroff also appear in the film, which has been produced by Sun Pictures. Jailer’s music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

Jailer was released in theatres on August 10. Following its digital premiere, Prime members worldwide will be able to stream the action entertainer in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

Actress Nazriya is one of the most prominent actresses in South Indian cinema. Suriya 43 will mark the second collaboration between Suriya and Sudha Kongara, who delivered a well acclaimed hit with Soorarai Pottru last year. The film, which depicted the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath, received multiple National Awards and critical acclaim. Suriya’s performance as Nedumaaran Rajangam was appreciated by one and all because of which he also won the National Award for Best Actor for his role. Sudha Kongara, who is known for her realistic and engaging storytelling, has reportedly said that Suriya 43 will be the most important film of her career and Suriya is also very excited about the script.
