“It will be a Hindi film but meant for a global audience, not just Indians. He is a lot similar to Kamal sir… For now, I can’t say if it’s a superhero film, but it will be the biggest action movie from my lineup.”

The untimely death of iconic stuntman SM Raju (Mohan Raj) shocked everyone. This incident led to an FIR being filed against Director PA Ranjith.

Raju, the stuntman died during a dangerous car stunt for the Tamil film Vettuvam, directed by PA Ranjith and featuring Arya.

This sad event took place on July 13, during a perilous car sequence in the film. The news about MohanRaj’s death got confirmed by Vishal, the Tamil actor.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) requested for an FIR against producer PA Ranjith. A video of the accident is going viral on social media, leaving fans saddened.

Videos of the crash popped up online, showing Raju speeding in a car. The vehicle was meant to take off from a ramp, but it lost its balance in the air and crashed down, freaking out the crew. The team members ran to the car and pulled Raju out, but they found out he was already dead.

On July 14, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) dropped a statement on X following the terrible accident that happened on the Vettuvam set.

“Despite the industry’s repeated wake-up calls, producers continue to compromise the lives of technicians and workers by cutting down on essential safety protocols to reduce production costs.

The Vettuvam incident is yet another painful example of gross negligence and criminal disregard for human life.

The case is currently being investigated by the Keelaiyur Police Station in Tamil Nadu.”

Hero Remunerations Drop: Stars Offering to Work for Less

0

With the OTT era and the pan-India trend, the big stars have gone to a pan-India level, and the budgets and business have increased along with the heroes’ remuneration. Now, heroes’ remuneration drops, and stars are offering to work for less.

As said above, the remunerations increased for stars because of the pan-India trend. For big stars’ and directors’ movies, the market is still there, as they have not been greatly affected by the OTT decline.

The stars who have been mostly affected are younger heroes and a few tier 2 heroes. In the OTT era, the heroes raised their remuneration big time, and the producers also agreed to whatever the heroes wanted.

Change in the OTT Era leads to the decline in the Heroes’ Remunerations

But with the OTT rise, many heroes’ theatrical markets started to drop, and at the same time, they also failed to deliver good successes.

Lately, the OTT platforms have become very selective in choosing the films, and they are not offering huge deals like before. Because of this change, producers are unable to manage the budgets, and the businesses are dropping many films.

Even the heroes’ remuneration drops, and stars are offering to work for less because of the change in digital business. Reportedly, the stars have cut their remuneration and are encouraging the producers to proceed with the budgets.

A few heroes are even refusing the entire remuneration and are taking the remuneration from the movie’s business and profits.

This is definitely a good decision from Heroes, but they also need to choose good scripts and have to deliver good projects.

Tragic incidents continue on film sets, despite industry efforts for safety. Lately, another such incident has come to light as a stunt master dies on the set of PA Ranjith’s film.

Stuntman Raju tragically died on the set of Pa Ranjith and Arya’s new film. On July 13, Raju had an accident while doing a car stunt. Tamil actor Vishal confirmed the news on X (Twitter).

Vishal, who collaborated with Raju on various projects, voiced his heartfelt grief over the loss. “So difficult to digest the fact that stunt artist Raju passed away while doing a car-toppling sequence for Jammy (@arya_offl) and Beemji Ranjith’s film this morning. I have known Raju for so many years.

He has performed so many risky stunts in my films time and time again, as he is such a brave person,” Vishal wrote.

There’s new footage out showing Raju in a botched stunt. He was behind the wheel of an SUV during a scene when it went off a ramp, tipped over, and crashed hard onto its front.

Another video showed Raju getting yanked from the badly damaged car and taken to the ambulance.

As stunt master Raju lies on the set of PA Ranjith’s film, netizens discuss on social media and are trying to find where the mistake happened.

Vishal guaranteed his support for Raju’s family. “My deepest condolences, and may his soul rest in peace. May God give more strength to his family for their grave loss.

Not just this tweet, but I will definitely be there for his family’s future, being from the same film industry, and also for his contribution to so many films. From the bottom of my heart and as my duty, I extend my support to them. God bless,” he added.

Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie is the most hyped project of Kollywood this year. The film is making waves among audiences and trade circles. Rajinikanth’s Coolie is all set to spark Kabali-Range pre-release hype.

With just a teaser, Kabali created a massive pre-release euphoria that is undoubtedly like never before. Wherever the bookings opened, the film saw housefuls within seconds.

With the euphoria, the film took a 90 Cr range opening, even with outright bad talk, which is not only the biggest opening for Kollywood but also for Indian cinema as well.

Even in Telugu, it opened in the range of a star hero with a close to double-digit share. Now Coolie is set to spark Kabali-Range Pre-Release hype.

Already, the film has created massive hype, and the latest Monica song takes the buzz to the next level. On YouTube, the Telugu version of the song is trending at the No. 1 position.

Another thing is the team has still not revealed the main promotional content yet. A glimpse or teaser including all the star-studded cast has not been released yet, and the theatrical trailer is also not out.

But still, the movie carries massive buzz; definitely at the release time, it will recreate the magic of Kabali euphoria and set the biggest opening for Kollywood.

Can Trivikram Save Hari Hara Veera Mallu?

0

Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu is releasing in theaters on 24th July. There are just 10 days left for the film’s release, but still, the makers are not promoting the film, and Pawan’s friend Trivikram is out to save Hari Hara Veera Mallu.

The theatrical business of the film has not been closed yet, and the main reason for this is the delays it had, and the director’s change also affected it.

Moreover, AM Ratnam does not have movies in the pipeline, and he is also quoting such high rates, which is making the distributors think multiple times before buying the rights.

Trivikram is involved in Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu Post-Production

Jyothi Krishna, who took the helm of HHVM in place of Krish, is fully taking care of post-production works. Now, Trivirkam is also said to be involved in the judgment and giving the inputs.

Trivikram’s entry will play a big role in the film’s business, as he is a popular director and has good judgment, so his involvement will bring a positive interest to distributors.

All business deals and financial hurdles need to be clear by this week to ensure a smooth release.

In such a situation, Trivikram is out to save Hari Hara Veera Mallu, and his factor will certainly boost the film’s prospects, but we need to see whether it will be enough or not.

The makers are confident that all issues will be sorted by this week, and the pre-release event planning this weekend.

Aap Jaisa Koi Movie Review: Madhavan and Fatima Drive This Decent Romantic Drama With Few Drops

0

Movie: Aap Jaisa Koi
Rating: 2.75/5
Cast: Madhavan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ayesha Raja, Manish Chaudhary, Namit Das, and others
Director: Vivek Soni
Streaming On: Netflix

Vivek Soni tackles some sensitive themes in Aap Jaisa Koi, like finding love later in life, men being vulnerable, modern dating dynamics, and classic chauvinism. The movie’s currently on Netflix, featuring R. Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh as two pros dealing with a shaky, flawed romance.

Story:

Even at 40, Shrirenu Tripathi (Madhavan) hasn’t married and stays like a virgin. Shri, a Sanskrit teacher at a school, can’t wait for the wedding and really wants to find a girlfriend.

He signs up for a dating app called App Jaisa Koi and has a great first phone call with a girl he chats with.

A few days later, Shri gets a marriage proposal and meets Madhu Bose, a woman in her 30s played by Fatima Sana Shaikh. As they begin their new chapter, Shri discovers just before tying the knot that Madhu had been dishonest about an event. What secrets does Madhu have from him? Will they patch things up? Those answers shape the remainder of the story.

Performances:

Madhavan brings a genuine warmth to his character, nailing 42-year-old Shri’s uncertainty with finesse, and he transitions into the character’s chauvinistic side effortlessly.

Fatima Sana Shaikh infuses Madhu with a ton of confidence and energy. As Shri’s sister-in-law, Ayesha Raza stands out with her subtle expressions and a character journey that’s both dramatic and intriguing. Namit Das and Manish Chaudhari really suit the roles.

Analysis:

Vivek Soni’s Aap Jaisa Koi dives into the deep-rooted patriarchy and gender biases we inherit. It kicks off on a positive vibe and keeps the feel-good factor intact until halfway through, then takes an emotional turn in the second half.

The way they build up Shri’s character and the fun atmosphere of his single life really clicks. Shri and Madhu’s love story makes a good impact. However, Madhu choosing Shri felt like an instinctual and instant choice rather than an emotional one.

Aap Jaisa Koi by director Vivek Soni serves up an emotional drama focused on characters while exploring timeless topics like feminism and patriarchy.

It has some standout moments that work great. But the emotional beats could have been established more effectively.

Why Shri behaves hastily about his relationship with Madhu could have been shown better.

Plus, the key episode featuring Shri’s sister-in-law, portrayed by Ayesha Raza, though works as a catalyst for the climax, drops in unexpectedly. It would have been nice if the director showcased her journey a little to back up her choice.

The tension before the climax works out nicely, leaving the film with a happy ending.

Positives:

  • Madhavan – Fatima’s Performance
  • Thuoght Provoking Dialogues/Scenes
  • Climax

Negatives:

  • Sudden Change in the Hero’s Character
  • Weak handling of Key Scenes/Characters

Aap Jaisa Koi Movie Review and Verdict:

Vivek Soni’s Aap Jaisa Koi is a decent romantic drama with a heartfelt message. Madhavan—Fatima’s performance and heartfelt moments work well for the film, while the miss-and-hit emotions do not land well.
