Vijay Faces 3 Major Setbacks Before 2026 Tamil Nadu Elections

0

Vijay, currently the leading star of Tamil cinema, is at a significant turning point in his life. Having recently launched his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), he is preparing to contest the upcoming summer elections. While a transition of this scale requires everything to align in a candidate’s favor, the actor-turned-politician is navigating a series of professional and personal setbacks.

Political Campaign and Initial Hurdles

The journey into active politics hasn’t been without its trials. During the start of his political campaign last September, the Karur tragic incident occurred, which reportedly left Vijay in a state of trauma. It took considerable time for him to process the event and refocus on his political aspirations.

Jana Nayagan Release Delays

On the professional front, Vijay intended to conclude his acting career on a high note with a definitive blockbuster. However, his final film, Jana Nayagan, has faced significant release hurdles. Originally scheduled for January 9th, the movie has yet to hit screens.

Current reports suggest the release may only happen after the elections, meaning his cinematic farewell will not occur before the voting begins as initially planned.

Personal Setbacks and Divorce Proceedings

In addition to his political and professional stress, Vijay is now facing a major personal challenge. Although he and his wife have reportedly been living separately for a few years, she has now officially filed for divorce, including allegations regarding his personal conduct.

Facing a legal and personal battle of this nature at the height of an election year presents a significant hurdle for the TVK leader.

A Critical Time for the TVK Leader

These developments—the Karur incident, the delay of Jana Nayagan, and his ongoing divorce case—have created a difficult environment for the star. As the summer elections approach, the timing of these obstacles marks a challenging phase for Vijay as he attempts to pivot from the silver screen to the political arena.

Vivek Oberoi Joins as Main Antagonist

The makers made a major announcement by introducing Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Desai into the world of Spirit. While the team has released a stylish first-look poster featuring the duo, sources have confirmed that Vivek Oberoi will be playing the main antagonist in the film.

In the newly released visual, Vivek Oberoi appears in a sharp, intense avatar, signaling a powerful face-off with Prabhas, who is expected to play a fierce police officer.

Don Lee Rumors Put to Rest

For the past few months, social media has been flooded with rumors suggesting that South Korean action star Don Lee (Ma Dong-seok) would be playing the villain in Spirit. While these reports gained massive traction among fans, the latest official updates confirm that Vivek Oberoi has been locked in for the primary negative role. Don Lee is not part of the film.

Spirit Release and Cast Details

With Sandeep Reddy Vanga at the helm, Spirit marks his first collaboration with Prabhas after delivering blockbusters like Kabir Singh and Animal. The film’s theatrical release is set for March 5, 2027, and expectations are sky-high for this action-packed entertainer.

Vijay’s Wife Sangeetha Files Divorce: Alleges Affair with Actress

0

Sangeetha Sornalingam, wife of Tamil superstar and TVK chief Thalapathy Vijay, has filed for divorce at the Chengalpattu Family Welfare Court. The petition accuses Vijay of having an extramarital affair with a prominent actress since 2021.

Grounds for Divorce

In her petition, Sangeetha has cited infidelity and mental cruelty as primary reasons for seeking separation. According to reports, she alleges that Vijay has been involved in an extramarital relationship with an actress for over four years now.

The news has sent shockwaves through the Tamil film industry and political circles, given Vijay’s recent entry into politics with his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Living Separately for Two Years

Sources reveal that the couple has been living separately for approximately two years. The filing comes after attempts at reconciliation reportedly failed. Sangeetha has also sought permanent alimony and the right of residence at their matrimonial home in Chennai.

Court Summons Vijay

The Chengalpattu Family Court has issued a notice directing Vijay to appear in person for a hearing scheduled on April 20, 2026. This court appearance could prove challenging for the actor-politician, who is currently focused on building his political career ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections.

Political Implications

Vijay launched his political party TVK in 2024, positioning himself as an alternative voice in Tamil Nadu politics. This divorce petition comes at a critical time when he is working to establish credibility as a political leader. How this personal crisis affects his political ambitions remains to be seen.

Vishnu Vinyasam Review: Sree Vishnu’s Comedy Entertains in Parts, Drags Overall

0

Movie Name: Vishnu Vinyasam
Rating: 2.25/5
Cast:
Sree Vishnu, Nayan Sarika, Satya, Brahmaji, Murali Sharma
Director: Yadunaath Maruthi Rao
Produced By:
 Sumanth Naidu.G
Release Date: 27th February 2026

Sree Vishnu, who scored a solid hit with his last release Single, is back with Vishnu Vinyasam, which arrived in theaters today. The film’s teaser promised a hilarious ride. Does it deliver? Here’s our review.

Story

Vishnu Vinyasam tells the tale of a man who deeply believes in astrology. Working as a junior lecturer, he meets a girl and falls in love. The rest of the film explores the twist fate has in store for his love life and how it unfolds.

Performances

Sree Vishnu once again tries to carry the film with his comedy. He makes a few scenes hilarious with his timing and unusual dialogues. But he struggles to excel throughout, as the script doesn’t give him enough push.

Nayan Sarika plays the female lead. Her character has importance in the script, and performance-wise, she’s okay. However, her characterization isn’t convincing. Satya has a lengthy role but manages laughs in only a few scenes. Murali Sharma, Satyam Rajesh, Goparaju Ramana, Brahmaji, and Praveen don’t get much scope.

Direction and Analysis

Director Yadunaath Maruthi Rao builds Vishnu Vinyasam around an interesting concept woven with fun, chaotic proceedings. In the first half, Sree Vishnu delivers entertainment with his trademark energy and comic timing in select scenes.

But the film doesn’t land the hilarious impact it aims for. Scenes start to drag, and the proceedings lose momentum. The interval episode works hilariously and raises hopes for the second half.

Second Half Struggles

The second half starts on a fun note. Scenes involving marriage fixing work well. But again, the film loses tempo as sequences get unnecessarily stretched.

There’s an attempt to bring emotion near the climax. Though the twist regarding the Jatakam works, the climax fails to provide the required entertainment. The revelation doesn’t deliver the needed kick.

Positives

  • Sree Vishnu’s comic timing and mannerisms in select scenes
  • The interval episode

Negatives

  • Dull second half
  • Comedy misses the mark after intermission
  • Weak music
  • Lack of proper flow in proceedings

Verdict

Vishnu Vinyasam has fun moments and a decent impact through the first half. But it lacks consistency in the second half, with overstretched, repetitive scenes and poor emotional beats. Sree Vishnu fans may find some entertainment, but the film needed tighter editing to truly work.

The Kerala Story 2 Banned? Kerala High Court Orders 2-Week Stay

0

The Kerala Story 2 has hit a major roadblock. The Kerala High Court ordered a two-week interim stay on the film’s release on Thursday, putting its February 27, 2026 theatrical debut in jeopardy.

Producer Plans Supreme Court Appeal

Following the court’s decision, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah is reportedly planning to approach the Supreme Court to overturn the stay and ensure the film releases as planned.

The interim stay will remain in effect for 15 days. During this period, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has been directed to review the film’s certification and examine concerns raised in multiple petitions.

What Are the Petitioners Claiming?

The petitioners have argued that the film allegedly misrepresents Kerala and could disturb communal harmony. The producers, led by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, maintain that The Kerala Story 2 is based on researched facts.

The makers are now considering legal options, including challenging the High Court’s order in the Supreme Court.

History Repeating Itself

This isn’t the first time the franchise has faced legal challenges. The first part of the film, released in 2023, also faced similar issues with the Kerala government and public protests.
