Kalki 2898 AD OTT streaming: Official update

Kalki 2898 AD has emerged as a massive box-office success bringing great returns to everyone involved. With this project, Prabhas has bagged his second consecutive hit after Salaar. While the film is running in theatres, fans eagerly await Kalki 2898 AD OTT streaming.

The official movie PR team confirmed that Kalki 2898 AD OTT streaming will happen only after 10 weeks of theatrical release. So the streaming is likely to be scheduled in August last weekend or September 1st week. Amazon Prime Video has bought the streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada while Netflix holds the Hindi OTT rights of Kalki.

After 18 days, the film has collected around Rs 670 Cr gross in India and the overseas collections stand at around Rs 240 Cr gross. The total worldwide gross is Rs 910 Cr and this Nag Ashwin project is now heading towards the Rs 1000 Cr mark.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the movie stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Disha Patani, and Kamal Haasan in central roles. The post-apocalyptic movie has managed to impress the audience with its production values and technical aspects with the Mahabharata sequence standing as special highlights.

Senapathy, played by Kamal Haasan was the central character of the original film, Bharateeyudu/Indian. The character designed by Director Shankar earned great applause from the audience and became a iconic role for Kamal Haasan as well. When a sequel was announced for Bharateeyudu/Indian, many wondered how Shankar would deal with the character at the current time. Now after the film’s release, everyone feels that Senapathy has spoiled Bharateeyudu 2/Indian 2.

Senapathy turned out to be the main negative aspect for the film. People feel that the scenes not involving Senapathy looked better. Whenever the character appears on screen, they instantly get bored and disappointed due to weak writing of Shankar. Senapathy’s character has also become a troll material in terms of the get up and action scenes where he fights. Audience lost interest in the film throughout for the same reason.

Second half of the film felt somewhat better as it involved Siddarth’s emotional episodes but they turn out to be bad when Senapathy’s six pack fight starts. All the things involving Senapathy’s character have not worked well apart from very few scenes. Now, we have to see how the team deals with Indian 3. The film has already become a disaster and will end up as a nightmare for all the parties involved.

Indian 2 Crashes: An All-Time Disaster

After a below-par weekend, Indian 2 crashed completely on the first weekday. The film dropped more than 70% from Sunday. And on the 4th day, it collected just a single-digit gross worldwide which is truly astonishing and disastrous. From these figures, even crossing Rs 150 crores gross figure looks pretty tough.

Indian 2 is now an all-time disaster in Kollywood. No big-budget film flopped like this in Kollywood history. This Kamal Haasan starrer has failed deliver minimum numbers at the Box office and is a massive setback for the team. Now we need to see how the team will come out of the situation and how Indian 3 works out. The producers Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies have definitely found themselves in a pretty big financial hurdle.

Prabhas is currently basking in the historic success of his latest flick, Kalki 2898 AD. It is undeniably the biggest hit in his career since Bahubali: The Conclusion (2018). Helmed by Nag Ashwin, it received mixed responses upon release but posted record numbers in its first weekend.

Particularly in the Hindi belt, it has minted a staggering INR 370 crore in its theatrical run so far. And considering its current footfalls, it is all set to surpass S. S. Rajamouli’s RRR (2022), which scored a record INR 380 crore, in the next couple of days.

So far, Rajamouli is considered the biggest brand among filmgoers in Hindi. But with Kalki 2898 AD, Prabhas has once again underlined his undeniable superstardom in the northern states of India. It must also be noted that, despite receiving disastrous reviews, Saaho (2019) performed well in its Hindi version.

Puri Jagannadh gave a big comeback with Ismart Shankar. The film was a major milestone in Puri’s as well as Ram’s career. Unfortunately, he immediately faced a big setback with Liger. Even though Liger gave a bad result, the craze of Ismart Shankar and the promotional content of Double Ismart have helped the film to fetch a record deal.

Hanuman producers Prime Show Entertainments have acquired the worldwide rights of Double Ismartt for a record price of 54 Cr. This is a massive deal and the makers are hoping to cash in on the release date of 15th August which will be a big holiday weekend. 

This is a great chance for both Puri Jagannadh and Ram. If the word of mouth is positive then it will lead to easy recovery, as there are good chances for the film to deliver good numbers in Hindi. Even Liger opened with good numbers in Hindi and that’s something Puri and co. would be looking to emulate.

Puri has also produced this film along with Charmy under Puri Connects banner. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Kavya Thapar, and Sayaji Shinde in key roles with Mani Sharma composing the music.

Dil Raju, One of Tollywood’s top Producer was supposed to produce Indian 2. He even came on board for the film officially as well. But Dil Raju opted out of the film for various reasons mostly releated to budget. Lyca Productions took over Indian 2 then. Dil Raju however continued collaborating with Shankar for their Game Changer starring Ram Charan. Now, Indian 2’s disastrous performance makes one wonder if Dil Raju is lucky or unlucky.

Indian 2 as said is heading towards becoming a big disaster in Shankar’s career. Dil Raju has really escaped this with his intelligence. But he becomes unlucky as well since his upcoming film, Game Changer is also directed by Shankar. Indian 2’s underpeformance will definitely impact the pre-bizz of Game Changer which is already losing the hype. Game Changer’s first lyrical song, Jaragandi didn’t create the necessary hype and Indian 2’s performance will futher damage Game Changer’s box office prospects.

Game Changer’s shoot was also affected by Indian 2’s shoot. The film also exceeded the budget limit and postponed its release date many times. We need to see how much business Game Changer does. Ram Charan’s stardom and Dil Raju’s track record may help the buyers to not get scared. But the result is in the hands of Audience and we have to wait and see till the film’s release.

Rakul Preet Singh’s Brother Arrested in Drugs Case

Aman Preet Singh, actor and brother of Rakul Preet Singh has been arrested in a drug case by the Hyderabad police. The Police reported that 200 grams of cocaine worth ₹2 crores were seized from him.

Along with Aman Preet, four Nigerians, and some other celebrities have also been taken into custody. He was arrested in connection to a drugs case after a joint operation by the
Narcotics Bureau and Rajendra Nagar SOT Police under Cyberabad Police’s jurisdiction.

199 grams of cocaine, 2 passports, 2 bikes, and 10 cell phones have been seized by the
police in connection to the case. The police also released further details in this connection and called out youngsters who are consuming the drugs and promoting the consumption.

“As of now 13 consumers from Hyderabad have been identified who are wealthy are blatantly promoting a sick ecosystem of drugs in Telangana. They are creating a network of supply and demand for drugs in Hyderabad. Out of the 13 consumers, 5 are apprehended
and all 5 persons got positive reports for cocaine when their urine samples were tested,” said the press note.

Kalki 2898 AD witnessed a very big jump the previous weekend largely owing to terrible reviews and talk of Indian 2. The bad reviews saw the audience making their way to catch Kalki 2898 AD and giving it a big 3rd weekend. After 18 days, the film has collected around Rs 670 Cr gross in India and the overseas collections stand at around Rs 240 Cr gross.

The total worldwide gross is Rs 910 Cr and this Nag Ashwin project is now heading towards the Rs 1000 Cr mark. If we include 3D charges, the gross has crossed Rs 950 Cr already. While Kalki is likely to fall short of the Rs 1000 crore mark, with 3D charges included, it will certainly breach that milestone.

And to make such a huge film, I think we should thank the producers. They are the most gutsy producers. The way they spent, we all got worried.
