0

Indian 2, Shankar’s ambitious sequel to his 1996 blockbuster Indian was released last week to poor reviews and unfavourable word of mouth. The film was released in Telugu as Bharateeyudu 2 and in Hindi as Hindustani 2. This pan-India biggie faced a similar fate everywhere and is headed towards being one of the biggest disasters in the careers of everyone involved.

Despite poor reviews and talk on Day 1, Indian 2 opened to decent numbers. After this, the film witnessed a massive drop from day 2 in all territories excluding TN. In all areas, the Day 3 figures are lesser than Day 2. The film did well for the weekend in Tamil Nadu, but today’s bookings are disastrous. From today all areas’ numbers will be disastrous.

After 3 days, the movie has collected around 110 Cr gross and is projected to collect Rs 200 Cr gross in closing. The breakeven is at 500 Cr mark and the movie is on its way to be a massive disaster.

Directed by Shankar, Indian 2 also stars Siddharth, Rakulpreet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Nedumudi Venu and SJ Suryah in key roles. This pan-India biggie was produced by Lyca Productions and Redu Giant Movies with Anirudh Ravichander composing the tunes.

Prabhas Conquers American Box-Office!

0

Prabhas is undoubtedly the biggest Indian film star of all time. Thanks to S. S. Rajamouli’s Bahubali series, the ‘Rebel Star’ has achieved unparalelled super stardom across the length and breadth of the nation. But after the historic success of Bahubali: The Conclusion, things went downhill for the actor, who had to suffer three back-to-back bombs.

This time, it was Kannada filmmaker Prasanth Neel who revived Prabhas’s disastrous career. Titled ‘Salaar-Part1: Ceasefire’, it has been fairly successful in bringing the macho star on track. This was followed by Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic Kalki in 2898 AD. Released amidst sky-high expectations, it received a mixed-to-positive response upon release.

Neverthless, it minted a staggering INR 1000 crore at the box office; most significantly, it emerged as the second biggest grosser at the North American box office (with a gross of $17.5 million) for any Indian film, only behind Bahubali-2. From now on, the two biggest Indian films in America belong to Prabhas. What a legend!

Mahesh Babu’s Murari 4k Re-Releasing Soon!

The re-release trend of old classics is not yet over in Telugu-speaking states. Started as an experiment with cult blockbuster Pokiri (2006), it went on to entertain fans of all sections who wanted to rejoice their favourite stars on the big screen.

Most recently, ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s Ghilli (2004) had a grand release in Tamil Nadu and, surprising enough, emerged as a massive success, minting record numbers. Now it’s Super Star’s turn to turn down these so-called record numbers!

Yes, as the title reads, Krishna Vamshi’s classic Murari (2001) is gearing for a re-release on the eve of Mahesh Babu‘s birthday (9 August). Starring Sonali Bendre as a village belle, this rural drama was a’super hit’ at the box office. It must be seen how a 4K remastered version of this classic will fare at the box office.

Indian 2: Massive Loss in crores

0

Indian 2 starring Kamal Haasan is the sequel of Yesteryear blockbuster, Indian. Fans and Audience had high hopes on the film thinking that it would repeat the magic of the first part. But the film which released this Friday completely disappointed them. Indian 2 is now staring at a massive loss in crores.

To minimize the negativity around the film, the team and makers have trimmed around 20 minutes portion in the film for a crisp runtime. This itself is a big loss as 20 minutes is not a small duration. This also resulted in a big loss in the budget spent for the film. The production house of the film, Lyca Productions too engaged in a battle with Shankar for Indian 2 as well. The film was also kept on the backburners for the same budget amounting reason.

The problem with Shankar is he never thinks about this budget amounting and does what he intended to do. He needs to plan properly to avoid wastage of budget. This not only affects the producer but also the film. Indian 2 once again proved the same aspect. Now, another interesting thing is that there is one more part waiting in the line up after Indian 2 i.e., Indian 3 which was also announced to release in 2025. We need to see how Shankar reacts to the loss of Indian 2 and moves on with Indian 3.

The film also became Malayalam Film Industry’s highest grosser as well. The Goat Life too went close at one point of time but couldn’t beat Manjummel Boys. Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas became a big blockbuster at the box office. The film managed to gross more than 800 crores in two weekends and still rocking the box office during the third weekend as well. Kalki 2898 AD collections have doubled on Sunday as well when compared with Friday.

Despite new releases, Sarfira and Hindustani 2, Kalki 2898 AD performed exceptionally well on Saturday in North India. As said, Saturday collections have doubled than that of Friday which was 4.5 crore Nett. Saturday Nett stands at 8 crores taking the total Hindi Nett collections to just over 245 crores.

Kalki 2898 AD looks very comfortable in crossing the 250 crore mark by the evening shows today. With Sarfira and Hindustani 2 both failing at the box office, Kalki 2898 AD would perform well even on the weekdays this week. As of now, it looks like 275 crores number is very much possible and expect 300 crore in the full run if the film pulls the audiences well. The team has already published the official 1000 crore poster worldwide. Prabhas now stands as the only hero after Shah Rukh Khan to have two 1000 crores with Baahubali Series and Kalki 2898 AD. Shah Rukh Khan still holds the first hero to have 1000 crores with Pathaan and Jawaan.

Nag Ashwin’s Satire on Sandeep Vanga

The blockbuster success of Kalki 2898 AD has got the whole nation talking with cast and crew rejoicing the massive collections. The film has given back-to-back successful films and heightened the anticipation on the Kalki sequel. The Kalki team has officially declared that this Nag Ashwin project has reached 1000 Cr milestone But in reality, it’s still not past 900 Cr yet.

While the producers announcing exaggerated numbers is one thing, Nag Ashwin’s social media post celebrating Kalki 2898 AD success has caught people’s attention. In his Instagram story, the Kalki director celebrating the film’s success said that he as proud of the way the film performed “without blood, gore, obscenity and provocative content.

This is being seen as a direct dig towards Sandeep Reddy Vanga whose Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor was a blockbuster success and achieved extraordinary box-office figures. Animal was criticized by some critics and audience for its depiction of bloodshed and over-the-top violence and sexism.

Definitely Animal is a bigger hit than Kalki in terms of recovery, and return on investment. Animal collected Rs 900 Cr gross but they did not exaggerate the numbers for Rs 1000 Cr milestone.

Bharateeyudu 2 Day 2: Disaster

0

Kamal Haasan’s Bharateeyudu got off to a good start and the Day 1 share was 5.8 crores including GST. Despite poor reviews and negative word of mouth, such a start gave the makers a glimmer of hope about its box office performance. But it looks like the buzz has now died.

After a good opening day in Telugu states, the film saw a big drop on day 2. The drop is more than 50%. On day 1, Bharateeyudu 2 collected 5.8 Cr share; on day 2 it could only make around Rs 2.5 Cr.

The total Telugu state’s share is just around Rs 8.3 Cr for 2 days and looking at the trends for today, Day 3 would be the last decent day for the film with weekdays coming up next. If today’s numbers are lesser than yesterday then there will be a 40% loss for the buyers.

Directed by Shankar, this sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Bharateeydu witnessed similar drops in all the regions barring Tamil Nadu. In TN, the film held its ground and collected similar numbers on day 2 as it did on opening day.

Audience angry at Aha and ETV Win

0

Harom Hara starring Sudheer Babu released recently but ended up being a disaster. But the film gathered good reviews and word of mouth from the audiences. So they have been waiting for the OTT release. The OTT release was also announced to be 11th July. Streaming partners were Aha and ETV Win. But the film is not streaming yet and this made Audience angry at both Aha and ETV Win.

This rarely happnes for any film. And the reason for this is also being attributed to a popular YouTube. Praneeth Hanumanthu remains a popular YouTuber who roasts films and situations. He was arrested recently for posting grave remarks about Child Abuse watching a video. The YouTube also starred in Harom Hara and this made the makers change the OTT release plan.

The team of Harom Hara is said to be removing his portions in the film and may announce a new date of OTT streaming. Sudheer Babu reacted sharply about the YouTuber’s involvement in the film. So he too must have forced the team to delete his portions and release it afterwards. Harom Hara didn’t give Sudheer Babu the much needed relief in the theatres. Let’s see what the film does after the OTT’s release.

Sarfira: Akshay Kumar Career’s Worst Opening

0

Akshay Kumar joined hands with Sudha Kongara for Sarfira, the remake of her Soorarai Pottru/Aakasam Nee Hadduraa. He reprised the role of Suriya as the lead Actor. Sarfira released yesterday i.e., on July 12th worldwide but received negative reviews. Now Sarfira has also become Akshay Kumar Career’s Worst Opening.

Sarfira has opened with a mere 2.5 Nett opening in India which is Akshay Kumar career’s biggest disastrous opening. This number is even lesser than his previous bombs, Bell Bottom which made 2.8 crores, Selfie with 2.6 crores and Mission Ranigan with 2.75 crores. Akshay Kumar has been struggling with no proper hits. Even though the film has unanimous positive reviews but it’s not reflecting on collections. On Day 2 the film just collected 4 Cr nett and the movie heading towards big disaster,He once had great blockbusters in his career but its not working now. All his recent films have flopped or become disasters. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan too bombed recently at the box office.

He thought Sarfira may give him the much needed relief since the film was a National award winning film. Suriya won the National Award for Best Actor with this film. So, Akshay Kumar has to take a break and concentrate properly on the content. He is also missing his comedy based films for which he once was famous of. He needs to come up with such films but not with action entertainers or Patriotic films.
