Peddi, the mega-budget pan-India film starring Ram Charan, is facing an unexpected challenge with Peddi North America bookings despite a strong start. Made on a massive ₹350 Cr budget, the film has generated huge business, with the Telugu version’s pre-release business alone valued at ₹220 Cr.
Ram Charan has put in massive hard work for his physical transformation, which is clearly visible in the promotional content and trailer. The two released songs have also worked very well, raising expectations for record-breaking openings.
Record Start, Fading Momentum
The film’s advance bookings opened in North America a few days ago, and the initial response was very strong. Within no time, Peddi crossed the $100K mark, creating a record. But surprisingly, the momentum did not continue.
Even after the trailer release, bookings have not picked up significantly. The film’s booking trend is not matching the team’s expectations given the scale and budget involved.
Premiere Targets at Risk
Initially, Peddi was looking towards a premiere start of more than $3 million. Current advance bookings for premieres are in the range of $400K. With just 15 days left for release, a $3 million opening looks out of reach.
Even to achieve a $2 million premiere start, the film needs much bigger jumps in the coming days. This is definitely a concern for the movie team with such a huge budget invested in Peddi.
Postponement Impact
The film was postponed twice, and that seems to have affected the momentum. Despite the high production values and strong promotional content, the delays appear to have impacted the pre-release buzz in the North American market.
