With Pushpa 2 getting postponed form 15th August there have been several last-minute shuffles with many small and medium-budget films trying to go for the coveted Independence Day weekend. Amongst these films, Double Ismart is the most prominent and crucial for Ram and Puri Jagannadh. Everyone believed that Double Ismart will have a great opening as there are no major movies in sight.

Other films releasing at the same time are Vikram’s Thangalaan directed by P.A. Ranjith, Narne Nithin’s Aay, and Nivetha Thomas’s 35 movie. All these films have pretty low buzz and will definitely not impact Double Ismart in any manner.

But now, things are changing and Ram and Puri Jagannadh might face some stiff competition. Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja and Harish Shankar’s Mr Bachchan is planned to be released on 14th August. This will be a massive competition for Puri and Ram as Harish Shankar and Ravi Teja combo is one has a good brand value and Mr Bachchan is also an action entertainer.

RGV-Nagarjuna’s Shiva Re-Releasing Soon!

Veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma made his filmmaking debut with Shiva (1989). Featuring Nagarjuna in the lead titular role, the film emerged as the highest-grossing Telugu film of all time. Besides this, it is considered a groundbreaking movie in terms of technical aspects, storytelling, action choreography and has gained a cult following over the years.

As the title reads, this cult blockbuster is gearing up for a grand re-release (in 4K format) on the eve of Nagarjuna’s birthday, i.e., on August 29, 2024. Considering the film’s enduring legacy, this re-release is expected to perform well at the ticket window.

Shiva also starred Amala and Raghuvaran as the female leads and antagonists, respectively. Co-produced by Annapurna Studious, the film’s music was composed by ‘Maestro’ Ilayaraaja. Following its historic success, RGV remade the film in Hindi with the same title, with Nagarjuna reprising his role.

Trivikram Srinivas is one of the most prolific filmmakers in Telugu cinema. Known for his poetic dialogues and mythological narraties, he is one of the few filmmakers with a huge fan following among the masses.

Also referred to as Guruji, his last release, Guntur Kaaram (2024), received a negative response from viewers and ended up being an average grosser. Aiming to make a strong comeback, he is all set to collaborate with Allu Arjun for the fourth time.

Unlike the duo’s previous three flicks, this one is touted as a pan-Indian project that will be bankrolled on a lavish budget. If rumors are to be believed, the film will be set against the backdrop of Ithihasas, a zone Guruji is strong at handling. It must be seen if this project will be the next four-digit grosser in Telugu.

Producers’ Failure: Will Government Step In?

Producers strongly believe that the early OTT releases are killing cinemas and the theatrical market. However, they are not able to find a solution for this. Several meetings and deliberations have been conducted to find a resolution but nothing worked out. Interestingly, some of the key members of the producers’ council themselves released their movies in just 2-3 weeks on OTT platforms to recover theatrical losses.

Day by day, the theatre audience is decreasing due to these early OTT releases and many theatres are also shutting down. Yesterday at an event producer Bunny Vas also said the same. He stated that producers can not decide on this because everyone is focused on recovering their money invested.

Only the government can put an end point to this issue by putting a strict restriction on OTT releases and save theatres. If the government puts a restriction, then the situation might improve. However, there seems to be no strong reason for the government to step into this unless the producers actively voice out and seek support.

Kalki 2898 AD is a phenomenon at the box office, and we have not seen a film run into its 4th week with such strong shares in recent times. This weekend’s bookings also look good, making it the number one choice for audiences.

Aadujeevitham : Now Streaming

Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer Aadujeevitham is now streaming on Netflix. The film was released theatrically earlier this year in March and achieved great critical acclaim and collections. Directed by Blessy and co-produced with Jimmy Jean-Louis and Steven Adams, Aadujeevitham collected a worldwide gross of Rs 158 crores and emerged among the top 3 highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time.

Netflix has acquired the streaming rights of the film which is now streaming in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi.

Aadujeevitham is an adaptation of the 2008 best-selling Malayalam novel of the same name by Benyamin and follows the life of Najeeb, who, employed as a goatherd against his will, survives in a slave-like situation in the middle of the Saudi desert. The film has been titled The Goat Life for the international version.

The survival drama is written and directed by Blessy and has been in production for 6 years and the idea of the movie was conceived more than a decade back. The film also starred Amala Paul and Shobha Mohan and has been well-appreciated for its gripping narration and stunning visuals.

Two big films target Pushpa 2 release date

Pushpa 2:The Rule shoot is underway and the team is working hard for a best result. The film was initially planned to be released on August 15th but got postponed to December 6th this year. But this date is also rumoured to get postponed now due to various reasons. Many films which were planned for this original date had to postpone their release and they had to revert back after Pushpa 2’s rumoured postponement. Now, two big films target Pushpa 2’s release date.

There are rumours about Pushpa 2’s postponement to a new date from its current plan of December 6th. No one knows the exact reason for this as some say it could be due to differences of Sukmar and Allu Arjun. Kannappa starring Manchu Vishnu and NBK 109 starring Balakrishna and directed by Bobby are planning to arrive on this date if Pushpa 2 gets postponed.

Pushpa 2 makers didn’t let anything come out as of now. They also say that there will be no postponement in the release plan this time. Pushpa 2’s shoot will be completed by September. Allu Arjun was also spotted having a less beard to everyone’s surprise. The next schedule of the film is said to start within the next 4-5 days.

Pushpa-2 Issue: Official Clarification Out!

Pushpa: The Rule, also known as Pushpa-2, is an action drama film starring ‘Icon Star’ Allu Arjun in the lead role. A sequel to Pushpa: The Rise, it also features Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in crucial roles. Helmed by Sukumar, it is slated for a grand release in December 2024.

Putting all of this aside, this star-studded project has been in the news for the wrong reasons lately. According to the rumors, some serious creative differences have brewed between Allu Arjun and Sukumar, with the former leaving abroad for a family vacation, thus halting the shoot.

To be more precise, it is known that the actor-director duo is not on speaking terms anymore. However, Bunny Vasu, a close associate of Arjun, has completely brushed these rumors off in a recent press conference.
