Kantara Chapter 1 Crosses 200 Cr in 3 Days

Kantara Chapter 1, the much-hyped film from the Kannada film industry, has opened to a superb response from audiences and critics. The film crossed 200 Cr gross worldwide within 3 days of its theatrical run. 

The spiritual action drama has had a good day 3 at the box office; especially in South Indian states, the film goes bonkers with terrific numbers. Day 3 is almost on par with the opening day collections. 

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 has crossed the ₹200 Cr milestone, and the overall gross for 3 days will be over ₹220 Cr. If overseas sees a good jump, then the 3-day collections can even go for the 230 Cr range.

The film’s third day at the box office is significantly better than its second day, which is a promising sign. However, the lack of a much-needed boost for the Hindi version remains a concern for its overall theatrical performance.

The 4th day, Sunday, is expected to be the biggest day for the film, and it is expected to cross the 300 Cr milestone as well.

OG 10 Days Box Office: 270 Cr Worldwide, Yet to Hit Break-Even in Telugu States

OG’s worldwide box office gross collections (for 10 Days) are set to hit nearly 270 Cr by today, marking an impressive milestone and the biggest achievement for Pawan Kalyan by a significant margin, but the film is yet to achieve breakeven in Telugu States. 

The action drama has already become one of the top-grossing films in the Telugu version, while also raking in massive profits overseas and reaching break-even in the rest of India.

The concern is that even after 10 days of its release, Pawan Kalyan’s OG has not achieved the break even in all territories of the Telugu states, despite the rights being sold at high prices. The rights for the film are priced at 155 Cr for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

OG Telugu States Box Office: Still a long way to reach the break-even

Till now, the movie’s 10-day collections will be around 120 Cr. Still 35 Cr is needed to reach the target. The buyers need a big Sunday, and after the Sunday also, the Sujeeth director needs to run for a few days for the buyers’ recovery.

In regions like Ceeded, Uttarandhra, and Nellore, the buyers haven’t achieved even 80% recovery, making it crucial for the film to have a strong box office performance in these areas.

Kantara Chapter 1, the biggest project of Kannada Cinema directed and led by Rishab Shetty, is having superb consistency in the South, but in Hindi, the film’s 3-day collections are still below the day 1 number of KGF 2. 

Kantara Chapter 1 is trending on par with KGF 2 in Karnataka, and in other Southern states, even though it is not on par with Yash and Neel’s big sequel, the trend is strong. The most disappointing territory for the film is the Hindi Belt.

KGF 2 Hindi version opened with 54 Cr net in India and created an all-time record at that time. Kantara’s prequel opens with 18 Cr in Hindi, and it collected around 13 Cr net on day 2, which takes the total net to 31 Cr.

Today, on day 3, the film is holding on par with opening day, and 3 days net will be close to 50 Cr, which is less than KGF 2’s opening day.

Overall, it is kind of a shocking performance by Kantara Chapter 1 in Hindi, and at this trend, the film doing 200 Cr net also looks like a very tough task.

For Idli Kadai, most of the numbers are coming from Tamil Nadu only, and the movie’s target market is also the same. For 3 days Idly Kadai has collected 25 Cr gross, while Kantar’s prequel collected 11 Cr gross in 2 days.

Kantara Chapter 1 dominates Dhanush’s Film in Tamil Nadu

Surprisingly, on Saturday, Kantara Chapter 1 takes over Idly Kadai in Tamil Nadu. While the Dhanush directorial continues to maintain strong collections, the Rishab Shetty directorial is showing better occupancy rates. Trade expects that the film’s collections will grow further on Saturday and Sunday.

Also, Kantara’s prequel needs such huge trends, as the movie’s theatrical rights are sold at 32 Cr. So, to achieve the breakeven, it needs to collect more than 60 Cr gross, and that is why it needs to continue the strong run at the box office, at least for 2 weeks.

Sankranthi season has always been lucky for both Chiranjeevi and Anil Ravipudi, with the duo delivering massive blockbusters during this time. Now, their first-ever collaboration, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, is set to hit the screens for the same festival.

Reportedly, Chiranjeevi and Anil Ravipudi’s film is setting up record theatrical business for both the actor and director, as the numbers that are getting circulated in distribution circles are massive.

Sankranthiki Vasthunam collected 160 Cr in theatrical share. So, Chiru’s film needs to do the same numbers just to break even, and it needs to target a 200 Cr share to achieve profits and take the breakeven status.

With Anil Ravipudi and Chiranjeevi’s films pulling in massive numbers during Sankranti, there may not be much room for negotiation in the market, as buyers are already competing to secure the rights to this film.

Rishab Shetty’s spiritual action drama, Kantara Chapter 1, maintains a super strong hold on day 2, and the area-wise collections are excellent for the film. Overall, the film has collected around 150 crore gross in two days.

The good thing is, the day 2 collections are almost similar to the opening day, with a total of 29 Cr gross in Telugu states, while the home state, Karnataka, is the best-performing territory for the film, as it gave 40 Cr gross till now. 

In Tamil Nadu also the film holds good and takes the total gross to 11 Cr, and we can say the same about Kerala, which showed an extraordinary consistency with a gross of 10.5 Cr.

Overall, if we add the area-wise collections for Kantara Chapter 1, the total South India gross for 2 days is 90.5 Cr. In the Hindi belt, the film sees a drop on day 2, with the North India gross being 34 Cr for two days.

So, the total India gross will be close to 125 Cr, and the overseas performance is also a bit disappointing for the film. The 2-day overseas gross is likely to be in the range of 25 Cr, taking the total worldwide gross to 150 Cr.
