War 2 Day 2: Hindi Up, Telugu Down

NTR and Hrithik Roshan’s War 2 was released in theaters amidst big expectations on its box office performance. The film received mixed WOM/reviews, which was reflected in its first-day collections. Coming to Day 2, War 2 performs well in Hindi but goes down in Telugu.

The Hindi version of War’s sequel opened with 28 Cr net in India, and it showed a good jump over day 1 with the help of the Independence holiday advantage. The jump is said to be around 50%, with the estimates being around 41 Cr net in India.

War 2 Shows Good Growth In Hindi On Day 2

Still, the movie is trending below the initial expectations, as everyone expected that the opening day of War 2 would be 50 Cr+, and the 2nd day was expected to collect the biggest figure ever for Bollywood.

However, the weak pre-release buzz and unfavorable reviews resulted in numbers that are not on the expected levels. Having said that, a 50% jump in numbers will provide some relief for the team.

War 2’s Telugu Version Slows Down: The Hindi Version Needs To Show Good Hold Over The Weekend

Coming to the Telugu version, the spy action drama’s Day 2 collections will be lesser than the opening day. On the opening day, the film benefitted from special shows in Andhra Pradesh with flat 500 ticket prices, which played a major role in the opening numbers, and hires were also an added advantage.

But on day 2, there are only regular shows, and the occupancies are also a bit low compared to day 1. The Telugu version’s Day 2 gross is expected to be close to 15 Cr.

So, ultimately, War 2’s collections are good in Hindi on day 2, but the Telugu version is not up to the mark. The total India gross for the second day is similar to the opening day, i.e., in the 62 Cr range. Overall, the film’s two-day all-India gross will be 125 Cr, with the worldwide gross being more than 155 Cr.

Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie produced a lot of anticipation among audiences across languages and arrived in theaters on August 14th. The film’s collections are rocking, but the mixed response has confirmed that Kollywood’s 1000 crore dream will not be fulfilled by Coolie.

For a long time, Kollywood not only ruled South cinema, but it even ruled Indian cinema, with director Shankar and Rajinikanth having their peak time, which made the industry set many benchmarks. 

However, in the last decade the entire Indian film industry has changed, as post-Baahubali regional cinema turned into pan-Indian cinema, and this is where Kollywood lacked when compared to Telugu cinema or Kannada cinema in making pan-Indian blockbusters.

Tollywood, Bollywood, and Sandalwood’s films have achieved the 1000 Cr milestone, but Kollywood is still failing to achieve this. As mentioned above, Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie sparked a lot of expectations and buzz.

Everyone thought that the director Lokesh Kanagaraj would make a film that would achieve the 1000 Cr milestone for the industry, and even Satyaraj said it in the pre-release event.

But the disappointment continues for Tamil Cinema, as Coolie failed to open with positive WOM, and there is no chance for the film to get close to the 1000 Cr milestone. 

The trade is not sure about whether the film can cross Jailer and 2 Point O’s final numbers at this time. How the film holds after the weekend will decide the full run of it.

Raviteja’s Mass Jathara is facing multiple issues. The mass action entertainer, directed by debutant Bogavarapu Bhanu and starring Sree Leela, was announced to be released on August 27th. But the latest news is that Mass Jathara has been postponed.

As said above, the film faces continuous postponements, and the last announced theatrical release date was 27th August. The makers also released a mass song and trailer a few days ago.

However, the latest inside reports suggest that Raviteja’s Mass Jathara has been postponed. Reportedly, the talkie part of the film is still incomplete, and 2 song shoots are also pending.

Due to the ongoing strike of the film federation employees, the movie faces a big issue in completing its final works, and the post-production works are said to be still pending.

With this, the buzz is that the movie is getting postponed again, and the makers need to find another good date, as September has many movies scheduled for release.

War 2 1st day Worldwide Box Office Collections

Hrithik Roshan and NTR’s War 2 was released in theaters yesterday, and the film received mixed reviews from audiences and critics. War 2 1st day Worldwide Box Office Collections are out now.

The spy action drama had an ordinary opening in both Telugu and Hindi, whereas the Tamil version gathered a negligible opening at the box office.

War 2 Day 1 Box Office: Decent Collections

In Telugu states the film has collected 18 Cr+ share and 28 Cr gross (including hires). In North India the film has collected around 30 Cr gross, and if we include ROI numbers, then the total goes to 62.5 Cr gross from India.

Overall, the 1st-day worldwide box office collections of War 2 are just decent. The film has collected 20.5 Cr overseas, which takes the total gross to 83 Cr.

If we look at language-wise, then the Telugu version’s gross is around 37 Cr and the Hindi version’s gross is around 47 Cr.

The worldwide gross of the Telugu version of War 2 is 38 Cr for day 1, which means the opening of the Telugu version of War 2 is a very low one for NTR-starring films. Normally the 30-40 range opening will be taken by Tier 2 or medium-budget films, such as HIT 3 and Kingdom.

For NTR starrer any film could have easily done more than 100 Cr opening in Telugu, as his last release, Devara, did that, but War 2 fails to resonate with Telugu audiences, and the film crossing the 100 Cr mark in closing itself looks very tough.

Collections-wise, Coolie and War 2 are expected to have a big day today with the national advantage. Coolie and War 2 will also compete on OTT streaming platforms when they make their digital debut.

No film has collected a double-digit gross in all South States to date. Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 was expected to achieve this feat very easily, as it gathered a mammoth hype. But the film failed to do so because of a disappointing opening in Kerala.

Rajinikanth’s Coolie falls short of this historic record now. The film had a good chance to achieve a double-digit gross in all the South states, but due to mixed WOM and competition, the film could not gather the required number in Kerala and Telangana. 

Now, we need to see which film can achieve this record. Rajini-Nelson’s Jailer 2 has a good chance to achieve this, as it will have a big craze for the sequel.
