Fahaad Fassil Joins The 100 Crore Club!

Fahadh Faasil, widely regarded as one of the finest performers in Malayalam cinema, has entered the elite INR 100 crore club for the very first time. Though the Telugu authorities know him for starring in Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise, the actor has a prolific list of films under his name.

Aavesham, the latest flick of his, has been performing well at the ticket window since release. Made as an action comedy entertainer, it also stars Hipster, Mithun Jai Shankar, and Sajin Gopu in key supporting roles. The film’s written and directed by Jithu Madhavan.

Released in the second week of April, it received critical acclaim for its performances, music, and other technical aspects. Expectedly, it went on to have a superb theatrical run since then; the film has crossed the magic three-digit figure (100 crore), thus becoming the seventh Malayalam film to do so. It is the fourth Mollywood film to reach this landmark after Premalu, Manjummel Boys, and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Aadujeevitham.

Gopichand’s action entertainer Bhimaa was released last month in theatres to poor reception. The film ended up as a box office failure, despite being appreciated for its action packed climax and fight sequences.

After its box-office debacle, the film is now making its way to the OTT. Directed by A. Harsha, Bhimaa will be released on Disney + Hotstar tonight in all languages. The film did better compared to recent Gopichand films but still failed at the box office due to low buzz and weak promotions. Considering its genre, Bhimaa is expected to be received better on its OTT release.

Bhimaa’s music has been composed by Ravi Basur and the action entertainer also stars Priya Bhavani Shankar and Malavika Sharma as the female leads. The film is packed with commercial elements and presents a nice blend of mass action with fantasy.

Mahesh Babu-Rajamouli Film: Announcement Date Locked

S. S. Rajamouli, the highest-grossing Indian director of all time, is joining hands with ‘Super Star’ Mahesh Babu for the very first time. For obvious reasons, the project is carrying enormous buzz, and any small information regarding it will take the internet by storm.

Tentatively titled #SSMB29, the project has been in pre-production for quite a while and is about to get wrapped up. Additionally, multiple sets are being erected in Hyderabad for the same. Jakkanna has already brought a legendary crew on board for the project.

Needless to say, the film is made on a very high budget; sources suggest that it’ll be the most expensive Indian film ever made. Having said that, Rajamouli is reportedly planning to launch the project officially on May 31, 2024, coinciding with the birthday of ‘Super Star’ Krishna. If rumours are to go by, the announcement will be made through a short teaser.

Censor hurdles for Prathinidhi 2

With the political climate heating up in Andhra Pradesh, several political-themed movies are getting ready for release. Yatra 2 has already hit the screens recently and failed to impress while Nara Rohit’s Prathinidhi 2 is the next prominent political film that’s coming up.

Prathinidhi 2 teasers, songs, and trailer were recently released. As per the original plan, the film was supposed to be released this Friday. The team applied for censor screening long back but the formalities were said to be not completed.

It seems like the theme of the film has created some troubles for the makers. The film is a satire on the political system and governance in the state. And with the elections coming up soon the film is caught in censor troubles. The movie has now been postponed to new release date which will be soon announced.

Prathinidi 2 is the sequel to the 2014 political thriller film Prathinidi, starring Nara Rohith. The actor is now coming with the sequel under the direction of Murthy Devagupthapu and the production of Vanara Entertainments.

South Cinema At Bollywood’s Rescue!

The infamous ‘North vs. South’ debate is all set to become extremely significant in the upcoming six months; it all started with S. S. Rajamouli’s Bahubali series, and Prashanth Neel’s KGF saga took over Indian cinema by storm, to the extent of completely dominating Hindi films in their own land.

Since then, this never-ending debate has come into existence among not just cinephiles but audiences in general. This year has been a mixed bag for Hindi films, with a handful of films emerging as ‘Hits’ at the box office. Jai Hanuman will be released on IMAX 3D

After the blockbuster success of Hanuman, all eyes are now on the sequel Jai Hanuman. Jai Hanuman was announced towards the end of its prequel much to the fans’ excitement. The script was already locked and the movie will be crafted on a big canvas. The movie will feature a stellar cast and popular craftsmen will be part of it.

Prashanth Verma started the pre-production works of the movie on the momentous day of the inauguration of the Ayodhya Ram Temple. The unit has now come up with a new poster for the film on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanthi. The poster features Lord Hanuman standing valiantly on the cliff with a mace in hand, even as a fire breathing dragon is approaching him.

Prasanth Varma is bringing dragons to the Indian screen for the first time and this poster has definitely brought great excitement and hype for the film. The poster gives hints about the kind of experience we are going to get with top-end VFX and other technicalities.

Jai Hanuman will be released on IMAX 3D. The other details of this magnum opus are awaited. Incidentally, the team is celebrating 100 days of HanuMan today.

Prashanth Varma’s Hanuman emerged as a sensational blockbuster and the biggest grosser of this year so far. The film achieved several records during its record-breaking run including the title of all time sankranti’s biggest grosser in Tollywood history and became one of the top grossers in Tollywood. The film has collected 300 Cr range collections at the Box office.

Director Prashanth Varma and Teja Sajja got a big break through this project and their market has grown significantly. The major credit for this has to go to producers Prime Show Entertainments.

If we observe, before Hanuman director Prashanth Varma and Hero Teja Sajja were not big names, and putting the 60 Cr budget on them despite their markets at that time was definitely a risky move. The producers delivered whatever Prashant Varma needed and the result is in front of us.

It’s a risk to put such amount on projects with no big stars as it can often misfire and recovering even half of budget becomes difficult. The producers believed in content and director. They even planned the promotions on a large scale. The producers crafted a promotional strategy that worked well in all the markets.

Due to the conviction of the producers and the vision of the director, the team has charted a great success story. As a result, the team is now celebrating 100 days for Hanuman today on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti and the entire industry is now looking forward to Jai Hanuman.

Rajinikanth’s Coolie: Anirudh’s Letdown with Music

The title reveal of Rajinikanth’s upcoming project with Lokesh Kanagaraj was made yesterday. The film has been titled Coolie and will see the Superstar in an action-packed role with a smuggling background.

The combination of Lokesh Kangaraj and Rajinikanth has already created a huge buzz and looking at the form both are in, the film is undoubtedly the most ambitious project from Kollywood. The first look was released a few days back and it received a stunning response.

While the rest of the cast remains under wraps, it’s confirmed that Anirudh Ravichander will once again collaborate with Rajinikanth for the project. Additionally, renowned action choreographers Anbu-Arivu are on board. The film is being produced by Sun Pictures.

The title teaser unfortunately failed to stand upto the fan’s expectations. Rajinikanth’s look was good but Anirudh’s music was a major letdown. Naturally, after the title reveal, comparisons with Lokesh and Anirudh’s other films cropped up all over the social media. Fans felt that the title reveal of Vikram and Leo was much better in terms of music.

Massive Promotional Campaign Planned for Kalki 2898 AD

Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD is picking up momentum with each of its promotional content. The recently released Ashwatthama teaser featuring Amitabh Bachchan has been received extremely well and has created massive curiosity about the character and the movie’s plot. As per reports, Nag Ashwin has planned to introduce each of the characters in a similar special manner.

The film features several big stars like Kamal Haasan, and Deepika Padukone among others. Since the film is based on several historical characters, each character’s intro will continually raise the buzz. Nag Ashwin and co. are super confident about the Kalki 2898 AD and releasing the film on their own. They are planning to do pan India promotions and events. These full-fledged interviews will begin pretty soon.

Kalki 2898 AD is being planned for June end or July release. The team still seeing all the scenarios and likely to announce the release date very soon. There is a huge suspense over the release date of the film and it certainly won’t be hitting the screens in May as originally planned. Ghilli rerelease 1st weekend Box office collections

The much-awaited Ghilli re-release has been a massive success by registering terrific collections over the weekend. Ghilli’s re-release created a new benchmark in re-releases. The film opened with closer to 8 Cr gross worldwide with Tamil Nadu collecting Rs 4.3 crores.

Shockingly, Ghilli held super strong on its second day and collected more than 3 Cr gross. For 2 days, the Tamil Nadu gross is more than 7.5 Cr, and the worldwide gross is in the range of 12 Cr making it a record-breaking re-release.

These are remarkable numbers and crossing double-digit gross in re-releases is a new benchmark indeed. Even today the bookings are good despite it being a working day. Ghilli’s re-entry to theatres have given a big relief to theatre owners.

Ghilli (2004), an official remake of Mahesh Babu’s Okkadu (2003), was a blockbuster in Tamil and, over the years, gained a cult following among fans and audiences in general. Vijay’s portrayal of a youngster taking on a dreaded factionist amidst Kabaddi background and Vidyasagar’s chartbuster music made Ghilli a massive blockbuster 20 years ago. ‘
