‘Mega Star’ Chiranjeevi was snapped boarding a flight to New Delhi today. Reason? You guessed it right! The legendary actor is all set to receive the prestigious ‘Padma Vibhushan’, India’s second-highest civilian award.

As officially announced by the government . of India, Chiru will be presented by Droupadi Murmu, honourable president of India, for his outstanding service to the field of Telugu cinema. In a career spanning four decades, he has starred in over 150 feature films, predominantly in Telugu, along with a few in Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada.

Regarded by many as the ‘Undisputed Face of Telugu Cinema’, Chiranjeevi is an absolutely deserving choice for this honour. Venkaiah Naidu, Vyjayanthimala, Padma Subramaniam, and Bindeshwar Pathak (posthomous) are the other candidates who’ll receive Padma Vibhushan alongside him.

Despite the commercial success of Vikram (2022) and Leo (2023), Karthi-starrer Kaithi (2019) remains the most celebrated film in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU). Released amidst minimal expectations, the film emerged as a ‘Sleeper Hit’ at the box office, grossing over INR 100 crore.

As Lokesh himself had revealed, a direct sequel to Kaithi has been in development, with Karthi reprising his role as ‘Dilli’. Titled ‘Kaithi-2’, it will be the fourth feature film in LCU. Arjun Das, who played a key role in the first installment, has teased the fans by revealing some exciting details about the film.

In a recent media interaction, he stated that ‘Kaithi-2’ is more like a prequel to Kaithi (2019) that discusses the flashback of Dilli and his equation with Adaikalam and Anbu. This project will go on floors once Kanagaraj wraps ups ‘Coolie’, a standolone film starring ‘Super Star’ Rajinikanth.

Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham: OTT Rights Sold at Record Price

Fahadh Faasil’s action comedy entertainer Aavesham (2024) has emerged as a blockbuster at the box office. After receiving praise for its performances, music, and other technical aspects, it went to gross over INR 150 crore worldwide. As officially announced, Aavesham will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting May 9, 2024.

Surprisingly, Aavesham is still performing well at the ticket window. Last Sunday, it collected an impressive amount of INR 2 crore gross worldwide. Despite this, the makers have opted for an early OTT release. According to a reliable source, this is because of the record sum offered by the American streaming giant ‘Prime Video’.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Blockbuster hit film, Arya. The film released in 2004 starring Allu Arjun in the lead role was directed by Sukumar. It was also the second production of Dil Raju under his Sri Venkateswara Creations. Arya became a sensational hit after its release with its songs becoming chartbusters. The dialogues and some scenes of the film too had developed a cult following among the audiences over the years.

All the people who worked for the film secured major positions in Tollywood. Dil Raju emerged as one of the top producers after Arya. Allu Arjun too stood as one of the top heroes after the film’s success. The team planned for a sequel but the producer Dil Raju opted out of the film.
