The trend of re-releasing old blockbuster Telugu movies has become a norm in the recent times. In this background, on the occasion of NTR’s birthday on May 20th, massive preparations were made to release Simhadri, a crucial blockbuster hit in his career. The film was re released worldwide yesterday amidst massive celebrations of NTR fans.
The fans of NTR have planned the Simhadri in an enormous way with excellent promotions and the film has been released on a record number of screens as well. Simhadri does well in most of the territories, but in a few areas it has underperformed. The film’s numbers are good worldwide as the movie opened with around 3.5 Crores Gross, which means Pawan Kalyan’s Kushi still holds the record with around 4 Crores opening worldwide. Overall, NTR’s Simhadri failed to beat Pawan Kalyan’s Kushi collections.
NTR is always super strong at the box office, especially in benefit shows which are enjoyed by scores of his loyal fans who are eager to catch him on the big screen. So, the fans were determined to create a new milestone with by a big margin. Their planning was done on a massive scale to beat re-release records, but the fans of NTR will be a bit disappointed as Simhadri failed to beat Pawan Kalyan’s Kushi collections.
Released in 2003, Simhadri also featured Bhumika alongside the ‘Young Tiger’. Directed by SS Rajamouli, the film went on to become a massive blockbuster and established NTR as one of the top stars in Tollywood. Keeravani’s chart buster music, Rajamouli’s pacy and intense narration, and NTR’s roaring performance have made this film a classic in the action genre in Tollywood.
