For the past many years the trade calculations for the Telugu movies in Nizam + Ceded = Andhra [6 Territories] and movies business was being done in the same ratio, But recently a trend of making movies with Telangana backdrop has become more frequent than in the past.
Post state bifurcation the Telangana representation in Telugu films has emerged and movies with the same backdrop are coming very frequently and they are generating superb revenues in Telangana area but the same movies are somehow underperforming in Andhra Pradesh.
If we take the recent blockbuster Balagam, the film has received 80% collections from Nizam only. Now the latest film Nani’s Dasara is super strong in Nizam whereas in Andhra it is just performing in a just okayish manner. The collections of Nizam area are bigger than entire Andhra Pradesh for Dasara. The same issue happened to previous movies like Falaknuma Das and Fidaa.
However, we cannot attribute the under performance of the above mentioned movies to the backdrop of Telangana. Films like Balagam and Falaknuma Das have deeply rooted elements from Telangana region, but Dasara and Fidaa don’t have such content. May be the audience from Nizam have connected more to these movies that’s why they have underperformed a bit in Andhra Pradesh.
