Drishyam: The Conclusion is a crime thriller that serves as the final chapter of the franchise. The film made headlines because unlike the previous installments, this third part features an original script that breaks away from the Malayalam version’s storyline. Let’s find out what difference this brings to the table in our Drishyam: The Conclusion review.
Story
Following the events of Drishyam 2, the grieving parents Meera and Mahesh Deshmukh (Tabu and Rajat Kapoor) return not just for justice, but for total revenge for their son Varun’s death. They take the help of a reputed prosecutor Indrajit Shetty (Prakash Raj), and a crime branch SP (Jaideep Ahlawat) to pin down Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay Devgn) once and for all.
It’s all about how Vijay overpowers them with his mastermind thinking once again, just like the previous parts. The narrative stays focused on the cat-and-mouse game between the Deshmukhs and the Salgaonkars, building tension through courtroom drama and strategic reveals.
Performances
By now Ajay Devgn has become fully habituated to playing Vijay Salgaonkar, a fourth-grade dropout who can go to any lengths to save his family. He delivers an effective performance once again, adding depth to his character and the narrative. Devgn’s restrained acting style perfectly suits the common man with an uncommon mind.
Shriya Saran, Tabu, Rajat Kapoor, and Mrunal Jadhav perform aptly and continue the good work from the previous parts. The new entrants, Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj, also fit well in their respective roles, bringing gravitas to the investigation and courtroom sequences. Kamlesh Sawant provides good entertainment in the most famous Gaitonde character.
Analysis
Director Abhishek Pathak and the producers had already confirmed that the third film in the Drishyam franchise in Hindi will have a different story from the Malayalam version).
The team of Drishyam: The Conclusion stands on its word, as the film has a completely different story compared to its Malayalam counterpart. The film starts on a perfect note, continuing from the second part’s climax.
Though the takeoff seems a little slow, the narrative stays focused on the story and never deviates. The way Meera Deshmukh and her team set the trap for Vijay Salgaonkar is gripping, and one would anticipate his counter attack.
The first face-off sequence between the SP and Vijay stands out, giving a solid elevation to the latter, ending the first half on a strong note. The second half of Drishyam: The Conclusion has more proceedings in the court, and almost all scenes and the way arguments emerge makes the narrative interesting.
Because audiences have already watched two parts from the franchise, it’s not too tough to guess the twists. But the pre-climax and climax deliver the required kick, once again showing that Vijay Salgaonkar’s character is one step ahead of his nemesis.
| Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|
| Engaging Screenplay | Some Slow Parts in the Beginning |
| Strong Performances | Predictable Twists at Times |
| Powerful Final 30 Minutes | Convenient Plot Turns |
Drishyam: The Conclusion Review And Rating
Drishyam: The Conclusion is a satisfying ending for the franchise. The film benefits from solid performances and an effective screenplay that mostly holds the grip. Though some initial slow parts and the less shocking twists appear as minor hindrances, the film emerges as a fitting conclusion to Ajay Devgn‘s journey as Vijay Salgaonkar.
The decision to craft an original story instead of adapting the Malayalam sequel pays off, giving Hindi audiences their own distinct conclusion. For fans of the franchise, this thriller delivers enough thrills to warrant a watch.
