Drishyam 3, one of the biggest projects in Mollywood, was initially announced for an April 2 release. However, the film has been postponed due to the ongoing Iran–Israel–USA conflict, which has significantly impacted the Middle East market.
New Release Date’s Official Update from Drishyam 3 Team
Mohanlal announced the new release date on his official X (Twitter) account, writing, “The past never stays silent… it only waits. Georgekutty arrives on May 21, 2026. Drishyam 3 – Worldwide Release.”
Why the Postponement?
For Malayalam cinema, the Middle East remains the biggest overseas territory, often contributing a major share of the overall collections. With the current geopolitical situation affecting that market, the makers decided to hold back the release.
Similar to how Yash’s Toxic was postponed to June 2026 due to Middle East tensions, Drishyam 3 faced the same challenge, forcing the team to reschedule their theatrical plans.
New Release Date Locked
While an official announcement is yet to be made, it is being said that the Drishyam 3 team has now locked a new release date of May 21, and a formal confirmation has come from the makers now.
Final Chapter of the Franchise
Drishyam 3 marks the final part of the Drishyam franchise starring Mohanlal and directed by Jeethu Joseph. The first film was an industry hit, while the second part was released directly on OTT during the COVID period and received a strong response.
The Drishyam 3 release date was earlier revealed for April, but the team prioritized box office potential over rushing to theaters during a challenging market window.
Box Office Expectations
There is already a huge buzz surrounding the third installment, and if the film opens with positive word of mouth, it has strong potential to rewrite box office records in Mollywood. The May 21 slot provides a clearer runway without major competition.
