Megastar Chiranjeevi and director Mallidi Vashista’s upcoming film is a big budget fantasy film and as per the reports, the movie’s script demands multiple heroines, but the director in his recent interview confirmed that there is no romance in the film. He also affirmed that Chiranjeevi will play a role that is apt to his age.
Vashishta stated that he will portray Megastar Chiranjeevi in a mature role that is appropriate for his stature and age. It is widely known that other old age stars like Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth were praised for their age-appropriate performances in Vikram and Jailer, their recent films. Now the audience can expect to see Chiranjeevi in a role that is similar and age-appropriate according to the director’s words. “This story will not see him romancing.” said Mallidi Vashishta
Directing Chiranjeevi is a dream come true for Vashista. During his childhood in Chennai, he recalls how difficult it was to watch Telugu films in theaters in the 90s. When he visited his grandparents in Hyderabad, he would watch Telugu films on video cassettes and occasionally in theaters. Rowdy Alludu in the theater was something he vividly remembers watching and enjoying. “His emotional portrayal in Aapadbandhavudu is one of my favorites, along with the entertainers such as Gang Leader, State Rowdy and Chantabbai.”
He recalls his first meeting with Chiranjeevi for the new film. “People gave me dos and don’ts and scared me. Chiranjeevi garu made me feel at ease. He asked me to narrate the story as I would to a friend. He was interested in the idea and asked me to work on it during the first narration that lasted for half an hour. I returned a week later and gave a detailed narration for one and a half hours.”
