Sankranti 2023 saw four big releases in form of Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy from Telugu and Thunivu and Varisu from Tamil industry. All four movies featured top stars and fans were excited to watch Chiru vs Balayya and Ajith vs Vijay at the box office.
While Varisu and Thunivu were released on January 11th to packed houses across Tamil Nadu, Veera Simha Reddy was released on January 12th to Balayya’s career-best openings. Waltair Veerayya was released on January 13th and had a terrific opening weekend and is continuing its victorious run even on weekdays.
Surprisingly, all these movies are turning into successful movies commercially. These big-ticket projects had extraordinary festival collections and showed steady to terrific occupancies after the festival also.
Collections-wise, in Telugu, Waltair Veerayya triumphed over Veera Simha Reddy while Varisu has taken the lead over Thunivu in this Sankranti race. Overall, movie lovers were the real winners as they got to witness four big star movies for the festive season.
While Sankranti 2022 was a disappointing affair, with movies like RRR, Radhe Shyam, and Bheemla Nayak all getting pushed to later dates, Sankranti 2023 surely brought back the festive feel for movie lovers and thoroughly entertained them despite the movies getting mixed reviews..
