There’s been a big twist in the distribution deal for Naga Chaitanya’s Vrushakarma. The film’s rights for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka have gone to Dil Raju, after the deal was earlier said to be close with Naga Vamsi.
Naga Vamsi Was in Talks First
Naga Vamsi had initially been in talks to acquire the film’s rights for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka. The deal was even said to have been finalised.
But in a surprise turn, the deal has now moved to Dil Raju.
Dil Raju Takes All Three States
Dil Raju has acquired the theatrical rights for all three states: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.
It’s a big move for Dil Raju. He has gone through a tough phase at the box office recently, missed out on Jailer 2, and is now releasing Ramayana in the Telugu states. Adding Vrushakarma gives him another big release in the coming weeks.
Naga Chaitanya’s Biggest Film Ever
Vrushakarma is the biggest film of Naga Chaitanya’s career in terms of scale and budget. It’s a mythological thriller directed by Karthik Varma Dandu, who made the hit supernatural thriller Virupaksha with Sai Durgha Tej.
The film is produced by BVSN Prasad under Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra, in association with Sukumar Writings. Meenakshi Chaudhary plays the female lead.
Coming off the success of Thandel, Naga Chaitanya is aiming to take a big leap with Vrushakarma, and the trade’s interest in its rights shows the confidence around the film.
December 4 Release
Vrushakarma is scheduled to release on December 4. With Dil Raju now handling the film in three states, it’s set for a wide release across the South.
