This Lokesh Kanagaraj film has now become just the sixth South Indian film to gross Rs 400 crores at the box -office. Other films in this exclusive club are Baahubali 1, Baahubali 2, 2.0, KGF 2, and Saaho. Earlier last week Vikram became the Kollywood Industry hit by surpassing Baahubali 2. The record of SS Rajamouli film stood for 5 years before the Kamal Haasan film surpassed it.
Not just domestically, the film is doing a tremendous business overseas as well. It surpassed Superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.0 and become the high-grossing Tamil film in Australia. It is also the third highest-grossing Tamil film in the USA behind 2.0 and ‘Kabali’.
Kamal Haasan’s terrific performance along with Vijay Sethupathy’s brilliant portrayal as an antagonist coupled with Fahadh Faasil’s measured portrayal of an intelligence officer worked out brilliantly for this film. It has done excellent business in Telugu states as well and has emerged as jackpot for the local distributors.
