Vamsi Paidipally and Vijay’s Varisu is currently in its filming stage and will be ready for release for Sankranti 2023. Dil Raju is backing the project and this is the first time Vamsi Paidipally is stepping into the Kollywood market.
Rashmika Mandanna will play the female lead in this big-budget action flick while SS Thaman will compose the music. Varisu will have strong competition during its release from both Kollywood as well as Tollywood biggies. Ajith’s Thunivu, Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya, Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy, and Prabhas’ Adipurush are also in the Sankranti race.
The overseas rights are sold at 35Cr and TN rights are expected to close in the range of 72Cr. The combined business of Kerala and Karnataka is expected to be 15Cr. In Telugu states normally Vijay films will do in the range of 10Cr business with Vamsi Paidipally and Dil Raju as the makers the situation has changed.
Vijay’s Varisu is expected to do at least 50% more of the usual as Dil Raju can accommodate theatres at any competition and festival holidays are the advantage. Overall the theatrical business will be in the range of 140Cr worldwide.
